Trying to record a 500*375 end project ... help!

Hi. I'm using TCS, and am using Captivate that comes with it. (v 3.01 build 589).
I'm trying to use Captivate to record software demonstrations, and have chosen this tool over Camtasia. I am finding I am limited in a few areas and am hoping it's just me. I'm trying to record in a small size (500 width by 375 height, the size is not negotiable). I need to be able to crop certain slides in order to make the text big enough to read, crop different areas of others, even record different sized slides in one project so that the demo is usable. I know that Captivate does not have Camtasia's pan-zoom capabilities, but can it do other things that will work the same? I tried a zoom area and it got fuzzy... I tried resizing the project and it cropped all my slides (even the ones to stay full-sized...).
I am recording in demonstration-recording mode, on a screen resolution of 800*600, and a recording size of 779*467 (which is admittedly somewhat arbitrary, I'm just playing guess and try again with the recording size).
Any help would be appreciated!!

Break the project up so that the differently sized slides are in different projects, perhaps.
When you resize, it does the whole project, not just certain slides. You can daisy chain your output together so it looks like one project, even though it is actually comprised of many small chunks of varying sizes.
Captivate 4 has a panning function, but not sure if the zoom works well enough for what you want. You can download the Cap 4 trial for free and it lasts a month.

I'm new to logic, i just made the switch. I have this odd problem everytime I try an record on an software instrument track, instead of just the click clicking to the tempo it is also the instrument i chose clicking to the beat along with the metronome, so it's like an layered click with the metronome and the instrument which is pretty annoying. If someone could help me out please so i can get to all the cool stuff that logic has to offer, i would appreciate it.

I believe you've got to go into your 'metronome settings' {which you can find on your transport window, by click-holding on the metronome icon} and there should be an option to use a MIDI device AS well as in the top right corner... the option of using a Software Click Instrument.
If you want the internal computer click, then turn the MIDI Port (below division) to OFF. If you want the MIDI instrument for your click, de-select the 'Software Click Instrument'.

Trying to record Stereo Mix with a monitor through my headphones. Using Screenium to record Audio and Video, using Avid MBox Mini with MXL 909 Microphone for the audio through the interface.

Basically, what I am trying to do is this:
Record my screen through Screeenium, record my voice as audio through an Avid MBox Mini (interface) with a MXL 909 microphone to pick up the audio. I have all that figured out. I'm able to efficiently record my audio and screenplay through these instruments and programs. What I am having trouble with is the stereo mix. I am running into a slew of problems here... My goal: Add on the audio of a game that I am playing (for example, Amneisia) so that the audio for my game will be picked up internally, and not through the speakers to be recorded through the microphone. I want there to be no external sound except me talking into my microphone. I also want to be able to HEAR the audio of the game through my headphones (and if possible, myself as well, through a monitor maybe?)
Problems I have run into so far:
-Haven't gotten it to pick up in game audio at all while using headphone. Can't figure this out
-Downloaded soundflower, have the output as soundflower. Not picking up anything, will put all my sound and midi settings at the end.
-When I do record through my microphone, it is only picking up a single channel (left earpiece only, no right channel)
-I have figured out it is NOT the equipment, I use Pro Tools and am able to pick up both channels with my mic, recorded a few tests. It's settings and I can't figure it out
-Trying not to run 16 million programs while running the game, will cause lag.
Summed up:
Trying to record:
-Audio from gameplay of any game I am playing through alternative route of speakers (do NOT want to record game audio through speakers, internally)
-Record voice through Avid MBox Mini and MXL 909 microphone.
-Record screen gameplay through Screenium
I followed a guide that told me to achieve "stereo mix'' I need to download soundflower and follow "X" steps. That is done and these are my current settings:
Audio Midi Setup - Stereo Mix custom Aggregate Device, Soundflower (2ch) selected, Avid Mbox Mini selected, Soundflower Output #1 has 2 channels (1-2), using Avid MBox mini for "Input" in order to record. Using Soundflower AND Avid MBox mini as "Output" in order to hear the sounds and replay game sounds (could be the problem? Maybe?)
Sound Settings - Output Stereo Mix (custom channel) Input Avid MBox Mini (recording)
I'm hoping this isn't too hard to understand.. I'm VERY bad at explaining information regarding computers.. It's hard becuase I don't understand it. I can clarify anything that I am able to, so any help on finding certain things would be greatly appreciated.
My computer: Macbook Pro MAC OS X Lion (11G63) 10.7.5 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 4GB 13333 MGz DDR3 (If any of this is imporant)

I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
What software are you using to record your game?
If anyone knows anything different, please let me know.

Captivate 3 not listing app I'm trying to record. Help!

I'm evaluating Captivate 3 and was trying to test it. I tried
to record an activity in my company's application by selecting
Record new project, then selecting Software simulation,
Application. Then I got a dialog box that asked me to specify the
application I wanted to record, but it listed all open applications
except for my company's app! Any ideas why it doesn't recognize my
open app?

Runtime Error 217 when trying to Record

I am using Captivate 4 on Windows XP. When I hit the Record button in Cap 4, a microphone icon displays and counts down 3-2-1, then runtime error 217 displays. Cap 4 then crashes.
I am not recording audio for this project. I am recording FMR and in Edit > Preferences > Full Motion Recording I have the Working Folder set to C:\Test.
Not sure why Cap 4 is doing this.
Can anyone make any suggestions to help me?

I'm trying to record an area of my screen to gif.
Here is the error I get when I press "Start recording":

Zou is correct, LabVIEW supports all GIF bit depth images 24bit and below.
Thank you for forwarding the GIF images, I also experienced the same error when trying to import the "logo.gif" image in LabVIEW however I was able to import the image when I opened it in Microsoft Paint and resaved it as a new GIF.
This suggests there is a corruption in the original GIF file generated on the web, for example a "terminiating block" may be missing at the end of the GIF file. LabVIEW is not forgiving of GIF images that do not meet the GIF specification whereas other Windows editors may be, it seems that opening and resaving the GIF file in Microsoft Paint added the missing characters thus allowing for the file to be imported into LabVIEW.
I have attached the working GIF image to this post.

Click on the blue Internet Recovery in nbar's post. That is a link to what computers can run Internet Recovery.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

OK Error code - 2125 usually indicates that the movie is to large.
It use to pop up when going to iDVD !
iDVD - DO NOT CARE ABOUT Gbs at all. I got movies on 500Mb that do not fit and 50Gb that fits nicely.
iDVD - ONLY CARES ABOUT - Duration. Duration is Movie time + MENU TIME. Choice of
menu and animation of this can take lost of "DURATION" 15 minutes or even more.
Choice of encoding method and use of SL or DL DVDs determine the DVD limit.
iDVD 08 & 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
• Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
• Best Performances (movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
• High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
DL DVDs can store about double of these times.
ALTERNATIVE - The Error Code can indicate that free space on Start-up (BOOT) hard disk is
less than 25Gb (my minimum)

If you are getting OSStatus error -2125, I've seen this caused by the computer display sleep settings.
Try changing the sleep settings to never and see if you are able to export.

Probably should've searched around a bit more. Just saw a similar forum post to my own in which redownloading and burning solved another user's similar issue. As of now I've redownloaded the 64-bit ISO, burned it, and so far so good (at 72% extracting files). I will repost here if it was a success in hopes that other users with a similar issue find this and benefit from it. Hope I didn't just waste anyone's time with a question that had already been answered (haha)

Anyways, there's still nothing in this thread that actually explicitly says "there is a file called VolcanoApp.java in the directory where I'm running javac from" and I really can't be bothered banging my head against the wall any longer. You've made a silly mistake, or a false assumption. We all do it from time to time. My advice is, take a break, go for a walk and re-visit this in a while. You'll probably spot the mistake right away.

Hi, I have this exact same problem. I haven't been using an iRig, just a cheap USB-jack cable. I managed to do this with the first cable I bought, but since it broke I've been unable to find a replacement that allows me to hear the drums while recording. DId you manage to get over this issue? QuickTime version 10 can only record the entire screen.
10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 offer part of the screen recording.

Informix: Error while trying to set up start or end key for index read

Hi all
Im moving an application from weblogic 6.1 to 8.1, we're using informix as our databasemanager and are using informix's XA driver. However im running into the following error:
SQL State: IX000, Exception: java.sql.SQLException: [Internal] Error while trying to set up start or end key for index read [fmstopset_release],
SQL ErrorCode: -9847, Error Message: [Internal] Error while trying to set up start or end key for index read [fmstopset_release], RSAM ErrorCode: -101
...while accessing a table.
The same code runs fine twice, but the third and following times it fails with the above error code. I've tried setting the various XA flags available in the weblogic console but with no success so far.
Anyone have any input to this problem? Ive not seen many postings about this error out in the cyberspace and the fews ive seen never gets any response...so i just have to hope anyone in here know anything about it.

Trying to Record Via Firewire without a tape

I am trying to record directly into my computer. When I click now in the capture window it tells me no time code run it in vtr. I am not putting a tape into the camera. is there a way i can use this like this? add a time code somehow?

Going to tape first is a good idea anyway, especially if you want to delete the capture from the computer and reload it later to make changes. Can't do that without tape...
But if it's not something you want to keep around it might not matter to you.
