Trying to recover from windows 8 to windows 7

I was in windows 7 then I upgraded to windows 8 and now want to recover but I didnt have recovory files, so I bought recovery cd's. The instructions say to put the disk in then turn off the computer, then turn it back on and the recovery manger will pop up and you follow the instruction. But it doesnt do anything, and continues to the normal windows 8 start screen.

What version of PS? If it's CC, just reinstall the CC application manager then PS and sign in. For an earlier version you will need to call Abobe to have you S/N reset.

Trying to recover after Windows 8

I downloaded the Windows 8 trial and installed. I deleted ALL the partitions on my stock drive because I have my recovery discs.
After playing around with Windows 8 I wanted to recover my hard disc with my recovery media.
I boot to the recover media and after clicking next I get the message, "The program cannot restore the system partition because its structure is incorrect. You may have to recreated the partition to continue."
I booted from the Windows 8 media and removed all the partitions that the Windows 8 installation created. I refreshed the partition manager to make the changes and quite the setup.
Thinking that the Lenovo recovery media would see the drive as new, I tried to recover using my Lenovo recovery media I made after the purchase. I get the same message.
Why on earth doesn't the Lenovo recovery discs recreate the partitions on its own? And what is it looking for? I'll get a Linux distribution so I can recreate what the disc is looking for, but come on!
I hope someone can help me besides telling me to buy media or send the computer back.

I just got off the phone with support. Be warned that the site administrators comment that the installation of another software won't void your hardware warranty does NOTHING in getting a software issue resolved.
I basic just got taken for a $59.00 ride because there's something special about the recovery media that is coming from Lenovo vs. what I created when I first got the machine.
Without a doubt this is the last Lenovo product I'll every purchase.

How can I recover from Windows login failure: User Profile Service failed the login

I have Boot Camp installed on a separate partition on a MacBook Pro, late 2011 model. I have Mavericks installedd (10.9.1). I use, variously, both Parallels and VM Fusion to access the BootCamp installation of Windows 7.
Except for having recently installed updates of both VMFusion and Parallels, I got this failure message when trying to login to Windows:: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
I had just been on Windows a few moments previously to access a business site that only accepts IE. Appreciate any useful insight on dealing with this issue without having to totally replace the BootCamp installation. A lot of the suggestions on Microsoft Windows repair sites are either incomprehensible or don't seem applicable.

Same problem here. Windows 7 support gives several so-called fixes (including regedit tweaks, eliminating the blocked user account), but all require access to that partition. So far as I know, I have only one user, since this is my personal computer -- unless there is some sort of default "administrator" logon.
Windows support says the problem might be caused by antivirus software running while we try to logon, but this problem has never happened to me before, and I have not made anti-virus changes (maybe AVG or Avast did so automatically)
I tried to access regedit through Finder, but get a garbled text-edit with the message that regedit cannot be opened by DOS.
So I wonder (a) is there a default admin logon? (b) Can we tinker with the settings inside Windows from Finder, or (c) how else can we get into Windows?
My setup: Macbook Pro (Fall 2010), 10.6.8, boot camp, Windows 7.

Hp officejet pro8500 a910 shoots out blank paper when trying to print from windows 10 installed firefox. Printer works fine from chrome and ie.

I am beta testing windows 10. I use both a hp laptop (dv77128nr) and a desktop (home made). I use a hp officejet pro8500 a910 printer.
When using firefox I get only blank pages while trying to print from within the browser. Only using firefox. Chrome works fine. IE works fine. If I boot to windows 7, firefox works fine. Can you help or should I report this to Microsoft?

Firefox isn't officially supported on Windows 10. For that matter, Windows 10 isn't officially supported either. This is most likely a problem between Firefox, Windows 10, and your printer's driver. Try updating your printer's driver and see if that helps. Otherwise, it might be a good idea to post this on Microsoft's forums as well.

When I tried to rename one of my drive to K using disk management, it says the drive letter K is already mapped to a network share or a local path. In order to see the volume after the operation, you must remove current mapping.

You can't just change the product name and have it work. At this point your best bet is to
go to this thread and follow the directions and post your results in a new thread in
the Windows Genuine Forums. That way, they can determine exactly which type of install you have and what your options are.

Change from PC to Mac, recover from windows backup

Hi guys,
I am probably about to become a Mac-user soon.
If have previosly used Win 7 computers, but yesterday my HD died during a backup process. It is totally dead and need to be replaced.
Fortunately I have the hole content backed up a few weeks ago.
However now I think of getting a Mac instead of a PC.
However does anyone know if I can recover files from the Windows backup file directly to a new Mac, or will I have first to recover to a PC and then do the migration from there?
Furthermore an additional question - is the transfer of emails and stuff from Outlook to the Mac-mail program straightforward or...
Hope anyone will be kind enough to spend a minute or two convincing me not to replace my dead HD with a new Win 7 HD but a Mac instead.

Partly, it will depend on the format of the external HD; OSX can read and write MS-DOS(FAT) and ExFAT volumes, and read (but not write) NTFS-formatted volumes. But there are 3rd-party apps that will.

Most folks who switch wish they'd done it looooong ago. There is, of course, a bit of a "learning curve," as some things are done differently. The longer you've used Windoze, the harder it will be to learn new habits.
But a new Mac will cost a lot more $$$ than a new HD.

Trying to print from Windows 7 x64 over network to XP machine with attached HP Deskjet 990cxi

My laptop has Windows 7 (x64 bit) and I'm trying to print to an HP 990cxi attached to an XP x86 machine. The driver for Windows 7 is apparently at Windows Update but how do I trigger the download without physically connected the printer to the laptop?

OK, OK. Honestly, I am not very good with printer sharing, especially across OS's, but I'll give it a shot.
First, just to be clear, the printer is attached to an XP machine via USB and you are trying to print to it via a router, right?
Let's try the straightforward approach:
1. Enable the Guest Account on the XP machine.
2. On the Mac, go to System Prefs > Print & Fax, click the '+' sign to add a printer and then click the Windows icon at the top.
3. Navigate to the XP machine, you may have to login to it.
4. Choose the proper driver from the pull-down. If it does not exist, choose a Gutenprint driver.
Again, I am not very experienced with this - let me know how it goes.

Recover from Windows 7 back to Vista

I have installed Windows 7 over my Vista implementation. Now I want to recover to Vista again and want to make use of my recovery partition on the harddisk. However, the Lenovo button in combination with F11 does not work and always logs me on to Windows 7. I did not create the recovery CD's. Is it still possible to recover to Vista and how should I do that?

If you boot to the recovery cd's it will remove 7 and reinstall Vista. Backup all you data first as it will all be gone.

I want to be able to write notes or papers o my ipad, and then be to get to them, add, or print,, from my laptop that has windows. what do i use to do that? I'd also like to use other windows software, ie; word, office, power point, etc.

MS Office is not availble on an iPad. There are available apps that can exchange files with Office applications such as:
Pages
Numbers
Keynote
Documents2Go
And, many others you can search for in the iTunes Store or at AppShopper.com.

Problem with recovering from windows phone 10 to 8.1

I installed windows phone 10 on my phone (lumia 730) and after a survey decided to turn back to WP 8.1. So, I installed windows phone recovery tool on my lap top and connected my phone with in. In the middle of recovery process the connection failed and
my phone turned off. Now, it does not power on and there is no response to charge and it seems the phone is dead. please guide me in this way.

Trying to sync from windows to MAC but not near my windows computer?

Hello, I had Firefox Sync set up at work on my work computer (windows). I want to set up sync at home on my MAC. I no longer work at my previous job...so, I have no access to that particular computer. I didn't realize that sync was specific to the device...I thought I could just sign on to Firefox at home and sync but nothing happens when I do. I haven't paired this MAC...don't think I was asked too and can't find directions that work. Is it a MAC to PC issue or am I missing something? Thanks so much for the help.

With the new Sync version used in current Firefox releases you enter the name and password of the Firefox account on each computer to connect to the Sync account.
You can no longer pair a new device by entering a pairing key on a connected device.

Trying to recover from exploded 10.4.9 update

Hi ... I'm back --
At first I just let Software Updater do its thing (without fixing permissions). Things started getting VERY goofy and especially freezes. Finally managed to download the Combo Intel updater (after fixing the permissions) after several tries (computer froze several times). Got the update to run. Again fixed the permissions.
The machine is still acting VERY strangly and has locked up once.
SO, since nothing seemed to be working, I decided to do an Archive and Install. Couldn't find my original disks so I went to CompUSA (they were out of course) then to the Apple store to purchase OS 10.4 Tiger. Got home and my Intel will not boot from this disk. Look on the box and in the literature and it clearly talks about needing a PPC to use these disks. So I call my Apple store (actually got a person) and ask if there is a special 10.4 disk for Intel Macs. They say no, but I can come in and make an appointment for some time tomorrow to get some help.
Clearly I have sinned greatly and often, but do I deserve this?!?!?
Any wisdom out there regarding next steps would be appreciated.

But still doing strange things (eg not typing the characters as I am typing in this message) and other random window clearing things.

Trying to recover from constant kernel panics 'You need to restart your...'

Since last night I've been having major problems with my MBP. After installing some software on my Windows 7 Bootcamp partition, and following a restart, I got a kernel panic and the message "You need to restart your computer.." in 5 languages, and the screen would freeze.
Disconcertingly the desktop video was totally screwed up - the best way I can describe it is that a looked like a really, really bad 8-bit display, with huge blocky pixels.
Multiple attempts at pressing and holding the power button, then restarting, simply replicated the problem. In the end I was eventually able to boot up using a superduper clone. I decided to reformat the MBP HDD and copy the clone over. However, during the process the screensaver came on and froze the system, so I had to restart and repeat the process, this time switching off energy saver preferences and the screensaver.
So I'm back up and running (for now). I'm about to restore my energy preferences and test out the screen saver. Fingers crossed, but in the meantime, has anyone else come across an issue like this?
I've got 3rd party RAM installed, have had it for over a year, so not sure if this is the problem (hasn't been so far). As part of my initial troubleshooting I tried resetting PRAM but this had no discernible effect, other than to make the patchy block video more uniform (if that makes sense?)
I haven't tried the Apple Hardware Test yet, just got to find my original disks! Spec of MBP as per signature below.
Lastly, after I restored my system a browser window appeared, pointing to a file in my system library which contained the following:
