Trying to Recover Windows 7 on HP G60-519WM Notebook

I obtained a set of recovery DVDs from HP for my system and tried to recover the operating system. Everything loaded alright and went fine until it got to "Setup is preparing your computer for first use". At this point, I got this message, "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation". Well...2 reinstalls later, I'm still stuck at this point. Does anyone know how to complete the Windows install from this point? I'd really appreciate any help you could provide.'

First of all, thank you for your help. I really appreciate it. I followed the instructions and ran byt the memory test (7 passes with no errors) and the program to give me the spes on the hard drive. That program worked too and I saw no indication of any errors there either. Where do we go from here?

Trying to recover after Windows 8

I downloaded the Windows 8 trial and installed. I deleted ALL the partitions on my stock drive because I have my recovery discs.
After playing around with Windows 8 I wanted to recover my hard disc with my recovery media.
I boot to the recover media and after clicking next I get the message, "The program cannot restore the system partition because its structure is incorrect. You may have to recreated the partition to continue."
I booted from the Windows 8 media and removed all the partitions that the Windows 8 installation created. I refreshed the partition manager to make the changes and quite the setup.
Thinking that the Lenovo recovery media would see the drive as new, I tried to recover using my Lenovo recovery media I made after the purchase. I get the same message.
Why on earth doesn't the Lenovo recovery discs recreate the partitions on its own? And what is it looking for? I'll get a Linux distribution so I can recreate what the disc is looking for, but come on!
I hope someone can help me besides telling me to buy media or send the computer back.

I just got off the phone with support. Be warned that the site administrators comment that the installation of another software won't void your hardware warranty does NOTHING in getting a software issue resolved.
I basic just got taken for a $59.00 ride because there's something special about the recovery media that is coming from Lenovo vs. what I created when I first got the machine.
Without a doubt this is the last Lenovo product I'll every purchase.
VERY disappointed.

HP Envy 14 - black screen after start up screen when trying to recover the system

I have a HP Envy 14 and months ago I got the message "Hard Drive failure imminent".
Well, the HD finally stopped working and I got a Kingston ssd hyperx 240gb to replace it.
I have the HP recovery disks, so I tried to recover my system with them. The 6 disks are used to creat an image and then I have to click "continue" in order to re-initiate the sytem. Then, I get the usual HP start up screen, so I hit enter. Then, I get a black screen (screen is on) and nothing happens. I've done this 4 times and always get the same black screen at the end.
Any suggestions to solve this problem?

At this point you may consider contacting Kingston to ask them why your SSD is not running after POST when clearly Windows is installed .

Photoshop locks up trying to recover a file

Earlier, I was working on a photo with many layers and tried to switch to mask mode when it locked up. After an hour of waiting for it finish, I finally terminated PS via Windows task manager. Now, every time I go to start PS, it tries to recover the image and keeps locking up. I tried restarting my computer but it's still doing it. It doesn't lock up the whole computer but I need to finish the work. I have accepted the fact that I will have to start all over with the image, now I just want to get back at it. I am using PS CC on Windows 7.

I think that documents file may be a goner. If you want to recover that file first try resetting your preferences to see if Photoshop starts. If Photoshop still hangs you need to move the recovery PSB files out of your Photoshop recovery folder. Photoshop should start then you can try to open the PSB files you moved out of Photoshop recovery folders one at a time to see in any can be recovered, Each user ID the uses Photoshop should had a autorecover folder for the Photoshop versions the user ID has used.

I Lost two HDD trying to install Windows 10 with BootCamp

I tried to install Windows 10 preview on a MBP Mid 2012 and after boot in Windows installer I choose the partition and the installer fails. I tried to boot again on OSX and didn't work anymore.
Using Disk Utility it shows that the HDD is not recognized. I tried the same procedure with an old HDD, and everything happens again.
I guess that Windows 10 installer is the responsible for the failure, but I can't understand how an installer can do that.
I plugged one of these HDD on a PC, and notice that it works, the other not.
I don't know if is possible to recover these HDD since it seems to be a firmware problem.
Anyone experience something like that, or anyone who can help me? Now I fear to install Windows 10 when it'll be available to the public. I do need it on a BootCamp partition instead of Virtual Machine because of video performance.

I'm not sure if the condition is related, but that version of Windows does not appear on the current list of supported versions.

Trying to Recover Data From Old Backup Exec Tapes

I have been tasked with recovering data from an old Windows XP machine with an HP C1537A DDS3 tape drive. The machine used Backup Exec to create the tapes. In trying to recover the data I constantly get an error that says the data on the tape is inconsistent. I tried to run the HP analysis utility but it said the error log of the drive was full and it would be necessary to do a firmware load to clear it. I therefore loaded the lastest firmware.
I ran the HP analysis utilities using one of the tapes as a scratch tape (to write over):

The tape that was used in the analysis was a maxlell HS-4/125s DDS3 tape -- the same type that was used to create the backup tapes.
Why does the drive think I am using "very old tapes not designed for this drive"? The tapes were witten to by this drive.
What is a "Non-MRS" tape?
The end results appears to be that "no problems were found" but Backup Exec reports that the tapes have inconsistent data.
Any suggestions on how to make the tapes readable by Backup Exec would be appreciated.
I am using Backup Exec 9.1 Rev 4691. Please do not suggest using a later version as this is the latest version that (1) will run on a Windows XP Pro box and (2) that supports the tape drive.

Crashes every time I exit, even using exit under file tab, has trouble recovering windows and tabs, reset crashes.

Whenever I start Firefox I get an error message that it has trouble recovering windows and tabs and gives me an option to close the windows displayed or restore the last window. It does this each time regardless of the last window. Each time I exit it crashes and I send a crash report. I tried a reset and it crashes. I have done complete virus and malware scans and have found nothing.

Here's an alternative option you could try.
You can use the following method to create your own Windows 7 Starter 32bit installation media.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the entire 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create Windows 7 installation yourself using another PC. However, there is no download directly available for Windows 7 Starter, so you'll need to download another version ( any one will do, but the link below is for Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit - the source is Digital River ).
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32bit.
For the key on your COA label to work, you will now need to use the method described in the following link to convert this ISO to an all-version installer– the section you require to modify the ISO is Stage 1 Universal DVD ( although you’re going to be creating a usb installer, the method for modifying the ISO is the same ).

I am trying to install windows 8 at my macbook air boot camp but Boot Camp Assistant i showing an error that the disk cannot be portioned because some files cannot be moved. Back up the disc and use disk utility to format it was a single Mac OS Extended (journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant Again.
I had already installed teh first time Windows on my MacBook Air and Mac Book Pro. Actually I had more issues to install on the pro than Air.
But my Macbook Air had an issue on November 2013, 3 weeks after buying it and Apple gave me a new MacBook Air but they only transferred the information on my mac and the windows partion was lost according to them, they could copy it in to my new MacBook Air. Now that I am trying to install my windows I can not access to the aprtion section and get the error message from above.
What can I do to to install it? I am using a 32GB USB and OEM Windows 8 at USB External Drive. The same I used before. I dont know understand what changed if I did it before?

I think there's some remmants left over from when Apple transferred stuff over. We can try a quick fix, but if that doesn't work, I think the only option is to clean install OSX and then install Windows.
open disk utility, confirm that you only have 1 partition (mac journaled)
restart and PRAM reset
open disk utility and repair permissions twice
restart boot camp assistant
Does it work?
If not, I would boot holding command+R, choose disk utility from the menu and completely erase your HD (formatting it as mac journaled again). Then, install OSX on this HD. Once OSX is installed, don't copy your files over from the backup yet. Instead, start boot camp assistant and see if you can get Windows installed. You can copy back your other files after we get Windows installed.

BCA creates the partition as FAT, which the installer needs to format.

I am trying to install Windows 7 with Bootcamp on my Macbook A1278 (OS 10.6.8) with a faulty CD drive (CDs and DVDs get stuck in it and I had to get it removed in an Apple store, so I don't want to use it anymore). I have got a licence for the product but I am only in possession of the ISO, is there any way to install it using a USB stick?
I don't have many options while launching Bootcamp, only
"Download the Windows support software for this Mac" but when I try I get a message explaining me that the download could not continue as the software is not available,
or
"I have the Mac OS X installation disc [...]" but obviously I can't use my CD drive so this is not an option. I tried it anyway and I created a Windows partition but when asked to "start the Windows installer", I can only continue by insering a CD.
I tried to use a USB stick and added the ISO on it but nothing has changed.
How can I install my copy on Windows?...

Turbostar > I checked the link and it seems to be relating to the first video I have seen on the subject. I tried to install Tuxera then to work with rEFIt, but I did not get any result yet (I don't know if I am doing something wrong during the USB writing process as many different ways are explained on different websites).
So far my last try was to launch Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool on VMware Fusion but it the only disk shown is A:\ Removable disk (not the name of my USB) and it is stated that the disk is being used by another program, even though it's not open on the Mac side.
Some websites are advising to write the copy of windows on a USB via a PC and then launch it on the Macbook, so I might try that in the next few days. I will keep you updated.
If anyone has another option I might not have think about, or an advice on how to efficiently create a bootable Windows setup USB with my Mac, please let me know!

This what I've done
I used disk utility to format a 8g flash drive in MS-DOS (FAT) format. Then I went on the microsoft site and made sure I was downloading the correct system for my Mac, using the correct bootcamp (4). I went with the 32 bit. I then purchased the full .iso windows 7 32 bit. I downloaded it and saved it to the previous flash drive. I went into bootcamp and downloaded the support software to the same USB flash drive. Then I ticked the box in bootcamp that says install windows 7, i partitioned the hard drive 40G windows and click install. The error message is that the disk can't be found. ok, not using a disk, but when I go back into my USB flash drive it says bootable :no. I hope this all makes sense to someone and you can help.
How can I make this USB bootable so bootcamp can install it? Where did I go wrong? Please be very step by step as I'm new at this.

Well, shucks, i just spent almost 30 minutes trying to find your model user guide to explain it better, I guess they never got around to making it.....
I would just borrow another Windows disk and try installing it again and if it does it again then you might take it to an Apple Store and see if one of the "Genius' " can figure it out.
Make sure your internet is enabled and click on your blank desktop and at the top of your screen is a Help menu option, enter PRAM and it should give you a list of things relating to Pram. It may take a few seconds to list anything as it has to connect to Apples severs first. It should list the things you may have to fill back in when your done.
"P-ram" stores some common information that is used in the background, your date, time, startup disk, etc, that you don't have to re-fill when you restart, it's a little different for each computer.
