Hi Ihatespam;
RATS! This is begining to sound like one of those "out of the pan and into the fire" type problems.
The more information you give me the worst it sounds. Do you have any of your data backed up? It is starting to sound more and more like serious hard drive problems. I have only heard of Disk Warrior failling when the hard drive was no good.
For your sake I hope I am wrong and someone else might come with another idea for you. Right now I have exhausted all of my ideas.
Allan

  • Cannot reinstall after system crash

Acrobat 7.0 Pro, Win XP Pro SP3
System disk crashed. I have to reinstall every app. Cannot install Acrobat because I have an upgrade CD. I have been upgrading for donkey's years, and doubt I could even find the original (CD? floppy disk?) for whatever version I started with. The install dialog for 7.0 gives a phone number to call; that number is not in service. I tried live chat; was told that I had to have the serial number for 6.0. I provided that number, and received no further communication; after half an hour waiting, I gave up and closed chat. I tried live chat again, and this time was informed that live chat could not help me with this problem.
If anyone has gone through reinstallation successfully, please suggest what I might try next, other than give up on Adobe and use some other product, which is not an option.

Generally I think that as long as you are registered with Adobe, you can call them and get the information you need. I am sure someone else will tell you which of the several numbers you should use. Bill

  • Reinstalling after PC crash

I have just had the worst crash, where the system HD was deleted. I do have a backup, but before upgrading to Acrobat X Pro. My question is, since I cannot deactivate before reinstalling, how is this going to affect me once I try to activate?

If you need to reset your activations you can contact Adobe and explain. There should be a telephone number on the activation screen and there are links on the Adobe support site so that you can do this through a web chat.

  • Reinstal after disk crashed

After my secondary hard drive crashed I cant install itunes anymore on my new hard drive since the old installation blocks this. How do I solve this?
Itunes was installed on my secondary hard drive and now that I got a new secondary hard drive my old installation seems to block the installement of  Itunes on my new drive. I think there are some system registers that still link to the old drive since I get a message saying that "the path to programfiles (x86) contains a invalid character"* I never get to choose where to instal though so I think itunes still has a key somewhere in windows that links to the old location. My knowledge of computers only goes this far though, I have no clue how to find these keys and or change/delete them.
    I would apreciate any help

  • Lightroom 4 to be reinstalled after CPU-crash.

    Dear Sirs,
as a hooby fotographer I hit it big ehen buying Lightroom 4 about 2 years ago, though download. I t has served me well and I thought moving to LR5 and the cloud was a bit overkill for my budget and needs.
During july this summer my computer was diagnosd with a bad graphic card and had to be sent away. About a week ago I got the message that in the return from repairs to the supplier it had been broken beyond repair. I got a new computer as a replacment, at no cost. So far so good. I had back-up my photos before sending it away and I am now in the process of restoring my computer and was looking to download LR4 again. Can't find it or any referens that I even had had it on my account.
I would really like to get LR4 again as enjoyed the program.

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.
*[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
If that works post back for further advice.
Next step, if safe mode did not work.
<u>First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously)</u><br /> that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.
    See
    * this recent post [/questions/940399#answer-377134]
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall
    <u>Second: try a New Profile</u>
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Creating_a_new_profile
    * this will be an additional profile, it is still worth backing up any existing or currently working profile on a regular basis
**[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * Until you are absolutely confident about the repercussions I suggest
** always use an empty folder when creating a new profile
** never delete or rename profiles, just disable or remove shortcuts
** after creating a new test profile open it and check for any addons or plugins that may be have been included by default

  • Trying to reinstall PSE 2.0 on winxp after a computer crash.

I had PSE 2.0 working just fine on my computer before a crash.  After getting Winxp SP3 back up and running, I tried to reinstall PSE from my original disk, and it just turns off with the hard drive working for a while.  No warnings, etc.  Then I tried exploring the disk and found the installation file and clicked on "setup.exe" and got the same result.
I managed to restore the old c:programs for PSE, but the program "PhotoshopElements.exe" is a Dos command and won't open anything.
I was able to install PSE 8.0 with no problem, but I don't like it as much as my 2.0 (Loads faster and no additional "Organize"etc.)

This can be caused by anti-virus software/ real time scanners. Please try to disable your anti-virus software real time scanner and try again. Do not forget to enable it after the download is complete!'
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files (Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows)

  • I tried to reinstall CS 6 after my computer crashed.  Now I cannot access any of the windows (e.g. on the paragraph  style window my mouse does not move me to a new style as it does not move the slider)

I had to reinstall the CS 6 after a crash.  Now I cannot move any slider with my mouse on any window.  This means I cannot change a style, or a swatch, I cannot move to a master page.

I used the CD and followed the directions  and accepted all the default.

  • Trying to reinstall iPhoto 6 after multiple crashes

After numerous crashes of iPhoto 6 (and reporting crashes to Apple via the pop-up box until my fingers fell off), I finally decided to back-up all my photos, delete and reinstall iPhoto 6. To do so, I did a spotlight search for anything with iPhoto in the name and then deleted all items I could find. I finally came down to a Library6.iphoto file, but when clicking on the i button in spotlight, only a dashed line ghost rectangle appeared. It had no location name, the date created and modified was Dec. 1903 and other useless information. How can I get rid of this program, that is says is still present, but I can't find it anywhere to delete it. I dont' want to re-install iPhoto 6, with this ghost running around.

    ExpressMan:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I've gotten those ghosts files from time to time and they haven't given me troubles. Here's what I recommend:
1 - launch Disk Utility and repair disk permissions and verify the disk.
2 - be sure all files with iPhoto in the file name are out of the HD/Library/Redeipts folder if you haven't already done so.
3 - install iPhoto 6 and then run the following updaters in this order:
    a - 6.0.4
    b- 6.0.5
    c - 6.0.6
I suggest you downloade them from the Download page (see the Download button at the top of this page) and run them from your HD instead of Software Update.
4- run Disk Utility again and repair disk permissions.
Also be sure you're running Quicktime 7.1.5.
Restarting your computer may get rid of that ghost file. But I wouldn't worry about it.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Hi, original poster here. I did not realize this would generate more discussion so I never checked back. I still had my warranty, so I took it to the store and got it repaired. The original problem I had was a screen with this icon flashing when I attempted to boot it up:
When I took it to the store, they told me that my computer was unable to communicate with the hard drive. I had this same problem three times in two months where this screen reappeared. Each time I went back to the store and they said the cause was different, but they were all hardware issues that physically made it impossible to communicate with the hard drive. After the third time, they simply replaced my laptop and I haven't had the same problem.
So in short: The reason you can't reinstall or move anything when you encounter this screen appears to be because nothing can communicate with the hard drive in the first place. You can't reach the disk or anything on it. So I don't believe it's possible to do anything besides take it to a physical store and have it fixed.

You need to uninstall PSE before you can reinstall it. It sounds like you didn't properly remove it. Use control panel in windows. PSE for windows doesn't do repair installs.

if you are subscribed to the Hardwell podcast... quickly open the Podcast app and delete the most recent Hardwell podcast from 3/22.
for some reason that's causing the crash. i've deleted and it works fine again.
