Trying to reinstall older CSPremium on Mac OS 10.5.6 -  installer states "serial

Trying to reinstall older CSPremium on Mac 10.5.6 that was originally on this computer. After entering the serial #, installer states "# entered indicates upgrading a previously purchased version of Photoshop"  There is no other Photoshop on this computer, and it won't let me continue with the install. Help please!

your serial number is for an upgrade version.  you need to prove you have a qualifying upgrade product.
after you enter your upgrade serial number and the installer failing to find a previous version, you should be given the option to choose the previous version and enter its (the older version's) serial number.
if that's not working, what version are you trying to install and why didn't the above work?

  • In trying to reinstall OSX to our Mac Mini, the computer accepts, reads and then rejects the disc, nothing but blue on the screen.  What should I do next?

Our 2009 Mac Mini became quite sluggish and then just wouldn't function.  I tried reloading the OS with the original disc from Apple, but the computer rejected the disc and the screen was all blue.  Next, I shut down the machine, inserted the disc, turned it on, the screen is a faint gray in color, Apple logo in the middle, the disc came out.  What should I next try?

    Apple logo in the middle,
The Apple logo is not contained in your Mac's ROM. Seeing it indicates that your Mac found a bootable device, and loaded the initial blocks from that device. I expect you booted from the damaged hard drive.
Use the Option key held down at Startup to get clarity over exactly what drives can be seen, and what your Mac thinks they contain. Wait for it to draw an icon for every potentially-bootable Volume. Deliberately select the device you want to use as the Boot Drive.
You must have a wired keyboard plugged directly into the chassis to use snag keys at Startup. A wireless keyboard that is already paired can be used, but the exact timing is more difficult.

  • Trying to reinstall older itunes

After upgrading to 9 my computer was hardly responding. So i uninstalled and then my cd-rom drive was not recognized. I ran the microsoft kb314060 and got the drive back. Now I just want to put the old software back in and use it as it did what i needed from it. BUT it will not run. The error message says something like files needed are missing reinstall software. I have done this 2 or 3 times with no good results.

Maybe there are remnants and an incomplete uninstall left over.

  • I am trying to reinstall CS5.5 from a disc, but I am told my serial number is invalid (student and teacher licensing)

Does student and teacher licensing expire after a certain amount of time? I know I am entering the correct serial number, but I am told it is not valid. What gives?

    Hello 2minnie,
in this case I would load down a version from there Download CS5.5 products (not from your disk) and change it with your serial number as described. See
Read before you download a CS5.5 product
You need your CS5.5 serial number to complete the installation. Need help finding your serial number?

  • Trying to reinstall cs4 on my old G5.  doesnt recognize previous version when I select it from drop down menu and put in serial #

I'm trying to reinstall CS4 on my G5, but when I put in the serial number it doesn't recognize it.  I installed Creative suite premium without trouble but can't get beyond that. My G5 isn't an Intel processor so cant go out and buy new software.  I have discs and sn #'s.

Piper and me it looks like you have a full version of Photoshop CS4 registered under this account.  Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of the installation files from Download CS4 products?  If so is there any event which occurred on this Mac which is leading you to need to reinstall Photoshop CS4?

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • I tried to reinstall iCal from Disk and get an error

I deleted info.plist from my iCal package. I had read somewhere that if I deleted that all old files in my iCal would be deleted. But instead what happened is I get an error when I try to start "2008-05-19 15:29:46.693 iCal[9051:10b] No Info.plist file in application bundle or no NSPrincipalClass in the Info.plist file, exiting logout" So then I tried to reinstall iCal from Disk and get the error "The Installer could not validate the contents of the 'iCal' package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance"

    lizesc,
    Welcome back to Apple Discussions.
I deleted info.plist from my iCal package.
Just for the edification of other users, you should never alter any files inside of an application package.
Drag your current copy of iCal to the trash, and then follow these steps to reinstall iCal:
    1. Insert your Leopard Installation disk into the computer.
    2. The disk will appear on your desktop.
    3. Double click on the "Optional Installs" folder.
    4. Double click on the "Optional Installs.mpkg."
    5. Click on (Continue) in Introduction.
    6. Click on (Continue) in Software License Agreement.
    7. Click on (Agree) to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
    8. Click on the disclosure arrow ▶ next to Applications.
    9. Select (✓) iCal.
    10. Click (Continue).
    11. After iCal has been reinstalled, download and install the OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update.
    ;~)

  • I get a message of "Could not find installation information for this machine." after trying to Reinstall Mac OS X.

I would like to repartition the Main HD to two Partitions but could not do so and keep on getting an error message of "Could not unmount disc.." so I tried choosing the "Macintosh HD" partition and tried Partitioning it but the option is not available. So to my frustration I tried clicking on "Erase" to see whether doing so would allow me to finally partition my HD but still can't. And now since I erased my Macintosh HD partition I could no longer boot to Lion.
Before doing the above steps I downloaded the Lion Recovery Disc Assistant and created an external Recovery HD using an 8GB flash drive. I used this as startup destination by choosing it as boot destination from pressing Option before startup. I tried using Mac OS X  Utilities to Reinstall Mac OS X from the external drive but I only get "Could not find installation information for this machine." message. I also tried booting from the Recovery HD partition on the HD but i also get the same message.
I have a new iMac that came with OS X Lion 10.7.
Anybody have idea how to fix this?

Partitioning on-the-fly may fail if the disk is too fragmented. You cannot run Erase for the internal disk as it contains its system components. The same if trying to run Boot Camp in order to create the Windows partition, it may fail if disk is too fragmented.
If I correctly understand what you want, then you must boot from an external disk, therefore copy Lion to a 4 GB (or higher) flash drive, run the installer, and then choose the option to partition the disk, this is done after rebooting into the installer from the external drive. You cannot do that if the Lion installer is on the internal drive as it cannot erase or repartition itself.
If this fails (did you try this?), then perhaps you can try to create a Lion boot flash or DVD by using a non-Apple app called Lion DiskMaker, when ready restart, after chime press option / alt key, then choose to boot from this newly created boot disk or flash drive. This reportedly works OK (tried with an older version of Lion, not recently, was OK). It is better to work with a flash drive, Lion is not optimized to run from optical media.
WARNING: disregarding the method, you MUST always back up your data when repartitioning or installing / reinstalling.
Hope this helps to solve you issue. Before any attempt, backup, backup, backup.

  • Should I delete older licenses,(iTunes, Line 6, etc), once a new one is saved on my drive? I'm trying to make space on my Mac.

Should I delete older licenses, (iTunes, Line 6, etc), once a new one is saved on my drive? I'm trying to make space on my Mac.

Material you do not need does not belong on your MBP.  What you are referring to though are rather small items and would be difficult to find them all.
I would suggest a clean install.  Backup all of your data, reinstall your OS, erase the internal HDD and then select only the data you wish to retain.  This way all of the refuse is automatically eliminated.
Further, consider a larger internal HDD before you do this.  The less data on a HDD, the better the performance.
    Ciao.

I am trying to reinstall OS X mavericks on my mac air... i keep getting a message that this option is temporarily unavailable... why?! help please!

How are you trying to install? Are you booted into in recovery mode, or trying to download from the app store?
Perhaps Apple's servers are not working correctly, or perhaps your internet connection isn't allowing the download etc.
Apple's servers had issues a few days ago, but I think it has improved now? When did you last try?
