Trying to restore ipod, telling me to turn off find my iPhone?

I forgot my ipod touch password, so I wanted to restore a backup. Whenever I press restore a backup, it tells me to turn off "find my iphone". However I can't do this becuase my ipod touch is disabled, and I don't know the password. Thanks beforehand!!!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone - Support - Apple
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device.
Click Erase device, then enter your Apple ID password. Because the device isn’t lost, don’t enter a phone number or message. If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it’s online. You’ll receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click Remove from Account. All your content is erased and someone else can now activate the device.

  • I can not restore because I can not turn off Find my Iphone

    Hello,
I'm using iphone 5 with ios 7. I just upgraded ios 7 today. after upgrade I realised that passcode was activated before upgrade I was not using that feature. I forgot my passcode so I got my phone disabled for a while. I searched the discussions and saw that I need to restore and then restore from back up to have the passcode to disable. When I try to restore my phone I got the below message:
Find My iPhone must be turned off before “Jean” can be restored.
Go to iCloud Settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone.
I can not turn off Find my Iphone because my phone locked and I forgot the passcode.
    Anyone can help?

Follow the steps above to remove it from the account, but then
"After the device has been removed from the account, turn it off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button located on the top right side of the device. Then restart your device and proceed with device setup as you would normally. "

  • HT1414 I forgot my password  I cant restore because I  can't turn off find my Iphone

I forgot my password.  I can't restore the settings because I can't open the phone to turn off find my Iphone.  What can I do?

If you have Find My Phone enabled then:
Is Find My Phone turned on?
You'll have to login to iCloud.com, from any computer, locate, then erase your phone. Once done, restore from backup, if you have one.
That's the only way for you to fix this.

  • Downloaded ios7 now iphone 5 completely locked. Can't restore because I can't turn off find my iphone. Help

Worked fine for a couple hours. Now I can't swipe to unlock

    Hi there jolss,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
From what I gather, your iPhone 5 is disabled and it’s showing a blank black screen. Try plugging your device in and letting it charge for at least 10 minutes or resetting it as suggested in this article:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If the issue persists, use this article as a guide for restoring the iPhone from recovery mode.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    or
    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My iphone 4s froze last night and won't do anything.  I have iOS7, my power button is not working, so I can't reset my phone.  I've tried to restore through iTunes, but it's telling me to turn off find my phone. I can't do that if my phone does nothing

I've tried all that I know how to do.  My power button quit working awhile ago so I use the Assistive Touch to lock my screen.  Once my phone froze, the screen went black.  The only thing I can do now on my phone is hold down the home key and Siri will beep but she says "not taking requests at this time, try again later."  I can't reset my phone without the power key or the Assistive Touch button.  I've tried plugging into iTunes to restore the phone but I get an error message to first go to Settings in my phone and turn off "find my iPhone."  I can't do that either as nothing will come up on my screen.

Make sure iTunes is up to date and try again.

  • HT1212 I tried to do this, but I'm getting a message that says I have to turn off find my iphone before I can restore.  Since my Iphone is locked, obviously I can't do this.  So how can I unlock it?

Put your passcode in to unlock it.

  • HT201365 I am trying to turn off find my iphone so that i can restore and back up the iphone. the phone has been disabled and when I try to restore it, it tells me i can't restore it until i take off the find my iphone options

How do I turn off "find my iphone" from the computer?
The phone was disabled and I cannot restore and back up until I turn off this feature

You can access iCloud.com on a computer to turn it off.

  • HT1212 My phone is disabled.  I tried to restore it, but it says to turn off "Find My iPhone".  I can't turn it off because I cant' access the phone?

I am unable to restore my iphone, because it has become disabled.  When I go to restore, it says to turn off "Find My iPhone" app.  I can't, because it is disabled.  I deleted the app and it still says the same thing.  Any ideas?

The Find My iPhone app has nothing to do with this. Deleting the Find My iPhone app which is used to find another iOS device or Mac computer you own or for someone else to find their iPhone or iOS device with your iPhone does not turn off Find My iPhone with your iCloud account settings on your iPhone.

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.

  • I updated to ios7 and got the set up asst and selected restore from back up.... can't get itunes to do the restore as it wants me to turn off find my iphone, but I can't access anything on my iphone to turn off as I am in ios set up assistant

I updated my iphone 4 to ios7.04 in itunes.  In itunes, it appears that all my data/apps/music/etc are on the phone  (but I cannot see anything on phone itself except setup screens).  I am getting the ios7 setup screen on my iphone.  I have selected my language, selected my wifi netowork, enabled location services, and chosen resore from itunes back up.  Next screen I get says to connec to itunes, which I did.  In itunes, I select restore from backup.  I then get a message that I need to disable "find my iphone " "Go to iCloud Settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone."  I cannot go to any settings on my iphone as I cannot get past the connect to iturnes screen!  I have also tried  not enabling location services and that made no difference.  I cannot get to anyplace on my iphone except the ios setup first few screens.  I am going crazy, there must be some simple thing I have missed!  Any help appreciated!

I found a way to get to my data.  So do not need remedy at this time.
fwiw, I changed my ios7.04 setup answer of restore from itunes to new iphone. Eventually that allowed me to set up icloud, then turn off find iphone, restore.  Very strange ios update.

  • How can I turn off find my iPhone to restore when it won't let me into my phone settings.

I went to use my phone last night and suddenly it says activation is required (which I'm not sure I understand alone) but I began to go through the steps and it says it can not activate because the beta has expired and I need to do a system restore. So I proceeded to do the system restore by plugging into iTunes and it tells me it  cannot do a restore unless I turn off find my iPhone but my phone will not allow me to look at any settings other than my wifi settings in its current state. How can I turn this off to proceed and what is going on with my phone in general?

Force it into recovery mode to restore it as explained here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.  Sometimes you have to do this more than once to be successful.  After restoring, you'll have to restore an existing backup, if you have one.

  • Forgot to turn off FIND MY IPHONE before restoring to another iphone

I restored all my data to my husband's iphone 5S after he got a new iPhone 6 but I forgot to turn off FIND MY IPHONE in my old device. Now I can't do it in the old device because the apple ID and other setting are associated with the new device.  The old device still contains info that I can't get at because of this.  HELP!

remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account. After you erase the device, you'll need to wait 24 hours before you can activate iMessage on your new device.
