Trying to restore whole library by dvd, getting (-50) error message
Having upgraded my computer from an amd athlonxp4200 running windows xp and itunes 7.2, to an amd 64 dual core 6000 running win xp and itunes 7.3, I backed up my extensive library (56gb) of music, videos, podcasts and audiobooks onto dvds. When i insert the first of 13 dvds into my new comp, I get the red cross window saying cannot open disc-backup 2007-7-1 due to unknown error (-50). Having read other forums here, I tried uninstalling 7.3, rebooting my comp, and then freshly downloading a vers of 7.2 and installing it. Lo and behold, I again got the red cross of doom with the same error message. Having spent two whole days now, slamming my head into various surfaces, and having children hovering in the background saying 'Have you fixed it yet? Can I delete your music from my computer?' I am at breaking point. I have a large amount of unreplacable music, rare finds and bootlegs, and will have a nervous breakdown soon.
Please tell me there is someone out there with a solution? Why oh why does Apple not have some sort of live chat tech support?

Hello,
When I am trying to restore my iphone I a getting an error message that reads, " The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2001)."
What does that error message mean?

A Concerned customerGoogle is your friend.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#error2001
Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service. -

Ok I need help. I went to use my phone, put in my passcode, emergency dial came up, then the phone said I didn't have an imei #. I hit the back button and then I was told I needed to restore and update using iTunes. I tried several times to do this and my phone is still not working. It acts like it's updating, but once the bar reaches the other side of my phone, iTunes tells me there was an error. I used all the ports on my pc, changed cables, restarted my pc, and still nothing. Can anyone please help me. This phone is my life and I can't afford to get another one.
Sounds like you might need to take it to an Apple Store but if it is an iPhone 3G it would no longer be under warranty.
Looking at the Apple Store online you can get an iPhone 3GS from $49 on AT&T if it comes to having to get a new one. Your other option is second hand. -
can anyone help or advise please?

after trying to restore from time capsule, I get the following message when I try to access the folder "data": "The folder “Data” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." Any ideas?
Are you restoring from a TM backup??

I have an Ipad 2. I am trying to sync my ipad to the itunes library, but I get an error message - saying the itunes library is full. How can that be? I've deleted lots from the library to see if that would help - but it still states I am about 25gb short. Can anyone help what to do?
Could any of the music have been sourced on an external USB drive or a network drive? In iTunes, go to one of the songs that won't sync. Bring up the info page, and look at the location of that song on the disk. Does that file and path exist? That could be your problem, especially if they were on a USB drive you forgot about.

1015 ? I'm trying to update my iPhone 3 and get this error message. The phone belonged to my wife, and I'm trying to restore it to factory settings as new owner. Any ideas?
Before beginning the download, try temporarily disabling your antivirus, anti-adware, anti-spyware, and any other anti-whatever that is required with the secure OS your computer is running.

I am trying to authorize my computer and I get an error message: The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed. Help?
I used Terminal to change the permissions on the folder in question. I followed the instructions in this article:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization
In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one. I was hesitant to use Terminal b/c I know that if I made an error I could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable. So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page and *pasted* it into Terminal. Also, before I could do anything in Terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal). I was just super careful when entering my password or doing anything else while Terminal was open (making sure I didn't accidently hit the spacebar or another key, etc.) And it fixed the problem right away.
What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do. It didn't mention Terminal. What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message. -
I have two versions of Pr, one is the latest 2014 and when trying to open a Pr2014 session, I get an error message saying the project was saved in a newer version and cannot be opened. Could there be an issue with an older Pr application on the computer? Please help!
You need to be very careful which project you open in which version.
For 2014 make sure its on 2014.1 build 81. -
I tried to play my iTunes and suddenly get an error message that says "The song (name) could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it now?" It happens on each tune I select and a "?" appears beside the song. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
I was not complete clear.
Since you never changed the settings in the advanced section of iTunes preferecnes, you have to chech that your music is really in the location setted in the folders reported in the advanced section. If not you have 2 ways: reset the position of this folders or in the actual disk organisation or in the pointing on the preferences.
If you press the reset button you just give to itunes its default setting as for the position of the music files: probably this will be a good choice if you have never changed any default preference.
But before I would check the folders and see if the songs are really there
In my iTune I have this, and I believe it is the default.
