I'm curious if this would work as opposed to using the "Cleanup Utility"
Try opening a command prompt by going to Start > Run and type in "cmd" and press enter. Then enter this command:
msiexec.exe /x {AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A93000000001} /qb
and see if that will uninstall the application successfully.

  • Internal Error message when trying to run adobe reader 9

I downloaded and installed the new adobe reader 9. When I run it I get 'internal error' error message and now can't access any of my documents and my assignments were due in today.
I was hoping that version 9 would have fixed the peculiarities around a. column reading (it doesn't recognise them and reads as if they are a single line) b. the enforced change in font when moving between 400% AND 800% magnification where it suddenly changes from my proportional font (Times New Roman) to a fixed font which makes reading impossible.
Hey adobe please make your software accessible to ALL people so I can complete re-training via my post graduate diploma and become a tax payer again!!
I am running on a 17" MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB RAM. Mac OS 10.5.4 and I also had a copy of version 8 installed.
Anyone come across this issue and found out what's happening and a work around??
    kind regards
    Elaine

    Elaine,
As a professor, I'd like to say that you shouldn't wait for the last
minute---but I won't since it is not helpful. As a mac user, you have
the Apple Preview program that will open most pdf files with no issue.
In terms of column reading, unless a document is appropriately tagged,
Reader has no method of knowing that the document has columns or where
    they are.
Reader never changes font when the magnification is changed. Something
    else is going on.
It sounds as if you need to remove Reader and try to re-install. If that
doesn't work, perhaps there is a preference file problem. You can check
this possibility by running as a different user.

    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

  • Adobe Reader Updater - Error 1402. Could not open key:

Adobe Reader Updater, error 1402, could not open key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opt
I might have accidently discontinue. Can any body help me????

    Hi,
It  looks like you do not have access to the registry key mentioned i.e.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current  Version\Run\Optional Components\IMAIL.
This might be due to  the fact that you may not be added to the Administrators group or the  registry key has been denied access explicitly to a group that you may  be part of.
People in my network setup were facing the same issue,  and we fixed the same using Microsoft's "subinacl" tool. You can follow  the below mentioned steps to rectify your issue as well:
    1. Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en
    2. Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
    3. Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start -> Run and type "cmd" and click OK)
    4. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following commands:
        i. cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
       ii. subinacl  /subkeyreg  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Opti  onalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f  /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
You  should see some processes happening on your screen. After the process  ends, retry the update operation you were originally trying to perform.  Hopefully, it should succeed now.

  • I get an error 1303 when I try to install Adobe reader update.

I have tried three times ti download and install the Adobe Reader Update. It gets to 97% installed and then I get error 1303. I checked the troubleshooter but it hasn't got solutions for Windows 7 Home 64 bit O/S's. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Without the information in the error message I am unable to help you.
One question: did you run the installer as an Administrator user?

Did you look "manually" for remnants of an old Reader installation ? (you could eventually try searching the drive for files and folders named Adobe )
Some suggests , as the previous thread contributor , that this is an issue with respect to remnants of an old installation :

Other suggests it could be a corrupted file issue :
    and suggests :
At a command prompt (run as administrator), do:
    C:\>chkdsk c: /f /v
and then reboot the machine. A chkdsk of the system drive can only run while
    the system is booting.
