Trying to set-up email on iPod Touch
Has anyone been successful connecting to bellsouth.net? While trying to verify POP account information, I get the message 'Cannot connect using SSL'. Even when I try w/o SSL, still no joy. Thanks
Well, do you have Outlook?
You can either install that and import the accounts or replicate them on the Touch.
If you set them up in Thunderbird, you should be able to do them with one of the above methods.

How did you restore?
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Notes are associated with the iCloud ID used. Are y using theme ID as the old device?

Setting up email on ipod touch
I am trying to set my email up on my ipod touch. I put in all the required information but I keep getting the message 'Cannot connect Using SSL". It asks if I want to set up the account without SSL. My email address is through my cable company. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to change your Apple ID back to your old email address (http://appleid.apple.com) in order to set up and activate the phone. After the set up please sign out of iCloud and turn off "Find My iPhone" (Settings > iCloud) - do that on all your devices -, then change your Apple ID to your new address again and then add your iCloud account on you devices again.

You can't have multiple IDs on one account, but you can use multiple IDs for different purposes on the same device.
Just use the one AppleID for iTunes and the AppStore so you can all share your music and app purchases. Then each person should have their own individual AppleID with associated iCloud account for mail, contacts, calendars, iMessage and FaceTime.
You don't have to use the same AppleID for all services. -
How do I set up my old iPod touch 4 for my child
I am trying to set up my old iPod touch for my 10 year old. I want to be able to filter things out and get my contacts off from the iPod. I tried setting up a new Apple ID just for the iPod, but have not been successful. Any advice is appreciated.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Yo have to enter a birtdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive. Note if you do this then y will NOT copies of Messages he gets/sends unless you also add his email address to your device in Settings>Messahes>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

I am trying to get minecraft for my iPod touch. When I put in my apple ID it says that I have to verify that I can buy it. I click ok I pulls up a site ask me for my apple ID and then I put in my security questions. After that it ask me some weird question like Who Is your favorite teacher and another question like what is your least favorite car model. I did not set those as my secure questions. i downloaded apps from the itunes store and tried to sync them to my ipod touch but its not syncing.i even restarted my ipod several times but it doesnt seem to work....i tried to delete and re-install the apps but that too doesnt seem to work... and while syncing,the apps are shown in my ipod and after the ipod is synced the apps disappear... dunno wat to do .................please help........

Hi, I have an iPod touch 3G and want to set up "Find My iPod Touch" on it, as described here:

I'm running OS 4.3.4 (8K2) and have iTunes 10.4.1. I have an AppleID but not a MobileMe account. I understand that since iCloud is replacing MobileMe, they are not accepting any more subscriptions (not that I'm anxious to pay $99/year for what will now be a free service). I'm not sure I want to create a new account anyway, because all the apps I own are linked to my current Apple ID which is not an email address.
I have a program called "Hidden" for my Macbook which works via wi-fi. If I lose the Macbook, I log into the Hidden website and it triggers the Macbook to broadcast its location via wi-fi (assuming it's within range of a signal). So I would assume that since an iPod touch has wi-fi capabilities, it could do something similar even though it's not directly linked to the internet like an iPhone.
Does anybody know how I can get this going?
My son has an iPad 2 that is wi-fi only and I would like to set up the same for him.

Hello. I tried backing up my 4th gen. iPod touch to the 10/21/2014 settings, but when I tried that, it backed me up to the June 2014 settings, even though I back my iPod up everyday. Is there anyway to back it up to the Oct. settings? Thank you.
If a restore to factory settings did not resolve the issue, it's a likely indicator of a hardware fault, meaning you'll need to or want to set up an appointment at your local Apple Store/Genius Bar.

When trying to restore and update my ipod touch it comes up with an error message saying: "The ipod can not be restored this device isnt eligible for the requested build" How do i fix this?
I am having the same issue. I just had the battery replaced at a third party store. The battery powers the ipod up but it needs to be restored. It is saying it isn't eligible for rebuild. I am running MAC OS 10.4.11 itunes v. 9.0 and I just want it to be restored. I need help. Oh and its an 8 gb ipod touch.

I just purchased an ipad. When I plug it in to my computer it won't show under devices in itunes. I already have itunes set up for my ipod touch. I just want to share the music etc thats already there with both devices. How do I get my computer to recognize that the ipad is there?

Help setting up my new IPod Touch on iTunes on windows 7 64bit

I need help setting up my new IPod Touch to my Itunes 10 application on a PC running windows 7 64bit. I have watched the tutorial on how to do it but what the tutorial says it is supposed to do is not what is happenning for me:
1. In the tutorial it tells you to connect your ipod to your computer, then, (if it is for the first time) when the ipod appears and is selected, a window will come up allowing you to name your ipod, and begin selecting the options you wish to use.
I did as instructed but quickly came against some technical issues.
My issues:
1-1: When I selected the new iPod Touch for the dirst time I got an error message.
A) This was quickly fixed once I calld up apple support on the phone (turns out an IE browser setting was blocking it.)
1-2: With that fixed I selected my iPod Touch again but instead of the window indicated by the tutorial, I instead got an iPod registration form window.
1-3: I filled out the form and pressed the submit button (thinking everything was fine), then a new window came up that looks like this:

The first three lines and the first paragraph are indented as if there should be some type of graphic there, but it is missing. The underlined words indicate that they are supposed to be links, but they don't go anywhere, they are broken!
Now wheenever I connect my iPod Touch and select it the above window comes up and nomatter what I try it will not move or change.

Sync problem - earlier today I updated both iTunes and my iPod Touch. Since then, I have tried syncing the two. The iPod Touch claims that there is no music on the iPod, however, when I connect it to my computer it says my full library is on there. At present, I am unable to listen to songs on the iPod when not connected to the computer. What can I do to fix this?
