Trying to set up home share on G4s and G5s No Luck
Hi I recently installed Leopard and updated it all the way to 10.5.8. On A Power Mac G5, G4 Mac Mini 1.25 with 1 gig ram, and Powerbook G4 1.25, 15 inch with 2 GB ram. I have success on the same network with my new mac Mini dual I7 with 16 GB ram. But not the G4s and G5. I think I have fulfilled all of the upgrade requirements I could find, but Apple TV 2nd Gen does not see the G4s and G5 home sharing.I have another Powermac G4 Dual 867 I can try but that is listed as the entry level processor for home sharing on a Apple TV.
In fact none of them come up in sharing in Itunes either, including the I7 Mac Mini.
Any caveates or missed steps anyone can point out would be very helpful. Thew specs say it should work but since it fails in the same way on so many machine, makes me think I am missing something

Home sharing problem: I have never set up home sharing but I feel I the concept and how it works. I recently (last 2 months or so) deauthorized, first time ever, all computers with my iTunes account. I have 3 computers authorized. I am trying to set up home sharing but get iTunes says:
"Home Sharing could not be activated because this computer is not authorized for the Apple Id "#########@###.com". Would you like to authorize now?" I click "authorize" and get the next error " You cannont authorize more than 5 computers. You have already authorized 5 computers with this Apple ID. To authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers."
Can someone help or shed more light on my problem?

RichardHome Sharing is designed to work on your local network not across the internet/cloud.
Stuff is accessed under the Computers column where your local iTunes library on a local computer would appear.
Home Sharing would share your iTunes content (i.e. stuff stored in itunes on the computer, not in the cloud) with AppleTV or an iPad etc on the SAME network.
AppleTV2 will not be able to see itunes content on the work computer over the internet. It's not designed to. if the work computer was on the home network it would.
iCloud is in it's infancy and is not a mature product - iTunes TV Show purchases appear on AppleTV, but currently music does not unless you are subscribed to iTunes Match. I find this rather odd to be honest, along with the inability to buy music on AppleTV2. Movies purchased in iTunes are not authorised for iCloud viewing currently either.
Maybe it has something to do with iTunes Match 'getting in the way' - i think they assume you'll use that whereas you really want to be able to access Purchased music from the cloud without subscribing to itunes Match which is overkill for some.

I am trying to set up home sharing between my iphone 4s and mac which is running itunes 11. Both are connected to my home wifi network and using the same apple id but on the iphone app it says 'Turn on Home sharing in iTunes on your computer or apple tv using account ***

On iOS 5 the iPod app has been renamed as Music - so if you select Settings > Music, you should then see the settings for Home Sharing on the right-hand side of the screen (you won't see the Home Sharing settings if the iPad isn't connected to your wifi network).

Whilst setting up home share on my husband's laptop was quite easy I can't find a home page on iTunes on my new iPad to do it?
The ID you use for home sharing should be the same on all devices, it doesn't need to be the same ID you use for other things.
So if together you have the ID's [email protected] and [email protected] (say) then you might use [email protected] for your iTunes Store account and [email protected] for home sharing and he might use [email protected] for his iTunes Store account and [email protected] for home sharing -
I set up home share and put my daughter Ipod on it. I went on her ipod and deleted all of my contacts. WELL now the only contacts I have are the 9 I left on hers. Please help

My Iphone 4g, won't turn on, I have tried the power button + home button several times and held them for over 3 minutes. It won't even respond to Itunes and I can't restore it because of that. A little water got into it before it completely shut off but it was like little drops.. Please HELPP.
I also have tried to put it in rice and left it there for 9 hours and it still doesn't workA drop or two of water may have been enough to cook it. If it was bad enough to prompt you to put it in a bag of rice, then I'd venture to guess it was more than a drop or two.
Try putting it back in the bag of rice and leave it there for several days.
If that doesn't fix it, then you're more than likely looking at paying for an out of warranty replacement.
Water and delicate electronics don't generally get along well. -

I am trying to set up my new iPad 2 and to begin I installed iTunes on my laptop and connected the iPad to the USB port. Neither Windows or iTunes recognizes the device. I did everything this site told me to try and still no luck. Help!
You will not be able to see what version you are running until the iPad is activated. It will be in Settings>General>About >Version when you can get to the settings app.
The slider bar that you are describing sounds like the screen lock side switch and that has no bearing on setting up the iPad or connecting to WiFi.
Why don't you try rebooting your router? Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again and see if the iPad will recognize and join the network. -

Try to change your Apple ID back to your old email address (http://appleid.apple.com) in order to set up and activate the phone. After the set up please sign out of iCloud and turn off "Find My iPhone" (Settings > iCloud) - do that on all your devices -, then change your Apple ID to your new address again and then add your iCloud account on you devices again.

Make sure you are checking the email address you used to set up your iCloud account. Check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

This suggests you don't have the right operating system. OS X 10.7.2 or better is required for iCloud, which operating system do you have. -
