Trying to setup with all wireless

I would like to set up my cable modem and linksys wireless router in a room with no computers. When I have a computer wired into the wireless router the wireless network operates fine. When I disconnect that computer and join wirelessly no computer can get to the internet. I can how ever go to the wireless router. When I look at the ip of the wireless router (with no computers connected with wires) the ip is 0's. When I plug in a wire and a computer the router gets an address. Is it possable to run this without a computer attached? Tomorrow I'm going to try upgrading the firmware.

get into the router setup page....then to the wireless section adn then to the advanced wireless settings.....here,change the beacon interval to 50 , reduce the RTS and fragmentation threshold by 40 each.

Trying to link with PC wireless router

Hi I am newbie to the mac world but picked up a G3 relatively inexpensive (to test before going for a new mac) and I have installed an airport card into it with the adapter and I show that the airport card is working but it is not detecting my wireless router that my other 2 windows pcs are on. It is a Linksys wtr54gs that is wired with ethernet to my desktop pc and wireless to my dell laptop. I am really wanting to get this other pc up and running by this weekend so the kids can use it for back to school which starts next week. It displays that it is sending out a signal but it is not picking up my router. The smae spot in my kitchen where the iMac is my dell laptop gets a perfect signal so it is not that it cant detect there. Someone please help me!!!!!

That is no indication of whether the wireless router is broadcasting the network name or not. To connect, the PC must know the name. The PC displays the name of the network regardless of if this feature is enabled or not on the router.

I have turned on my computer, and I am trying to login with my wireless keyboard. When I type, nothing registers on the screen. I have tried restarting, shutdown, and changing the batteries. Any other suggestions?

Last night I changed the system preference to make you have to login when the computer is turned on. I somehow must have disabled my wireless keyboard. With the keyboard not registering, I can't login. I'm stuck at the login screen. (I don't know the operating system. It is an iMac G5, OSX something.)

If it's an iMac G5 (and not a recent Intel iMac), it originally came with a wired USB keyboard. You'll probably need to connect it or some other USB keyboard (it can be one from a Windows PC), so you can get passed that screen.
If you have not already, you can try turning OFF and turning ON the keyboard, while you are on the login screen

If you must have the iPhone in the USA, your choices are AT&T or Verizon. T-Mobile has a great selection of phones, but not the iPhone.

IPhone trying to mate with Microsoft wireless mouse.

I know this is hard to believe, but when my iPhone is within 2 feet of my Dell PC, I can move the cursor on the computer. But once the iPhone realizes that it has a captive audience it starts moving through menus, clicking, moving to new items. I thought I was under attack or that the microsoft wireless mouse was going ballistic.
This doesn't happen on any of my apple products. The fix is just to keep these two animals separated.

Urgent help with WRT110 Wireless connection

i have got this wireless router a few months ago. since i have gotten it, i have only used hard wired to my desktop. I got a laptop recently, running Vista. I am trying to setup using the wireless with WPA2 personal security. However, i am not supposed get it to connect. It told me unidentified network, and it's not going through to the global earth icon under "Network and Sharing Center".
Now, i have searched solution on google, this is not my first experience setting up wireless, i used to have a WRT54G wireless and it works fine.
Now i have tried all these procedure below:
1) Open the setup page of the router and Under the Wireless tab,Click on Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 50,Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...Also reduce the MTU to 1400 and click on save settings..Now,check.
2) On all Vista and Win 7 computers, disable IPv6 under the LAN properties for the adapters.
It still doesn't work. Can anybody here help me with this issue? thanks alot

"Incompatible Security" when trying to connect with WEP password

I just bought my MacBook and so far AirPort has been working with all wireless connections I've used. I recently moved into a new apartment with wireless internet. The gals here are using a Motorola router connected to a Windows XP desktop.
Why is it that everytime I connect using the correct WEP password/configuration, it says "Incompatible Security"? I've tried everything with network preferences and the like. Why is it that the Macbook won't connect to this wireless router but will connect to others...?

One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa.

I have the DSL phone line plugged into WIndsteam Seimens Speedstream 4200 modem and then the ethernet (yellow) wire from the WIndsteam Seimens Speedstream 4200 modem to the port on the dome that is a circle of dots.

1)Can you explain how using the AEBS as a bridge will work with the Seimens Speedstream4200?
As a bridge, the AEBS will basically become a wireless access point. This will allow the AEBS to provide a wireless network, but still allow the Speedstream to provide NAT & DHCP services for the wireless clients connected to the AEBS. If the AEBS was left as a router, you would have a double-NAT condition which isn't necessary bad in itself, but would create a second subnet. That would make it more difficult for clients connected to the AEBS to access clients connected to the Speedstream.
2) Is there a link that will guide me through the steps to set the AEBS as a bridge?
You can easily reconfigure the AEBS as a bridge using the AirPort Utility.
ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AEBS > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
3)Can I just connect the DSL phone line to the AEBS and eliminate the Speedstream4200?
Unfortunately no. The AEBS does not have a built-in DSL modem. You will still need the Speedstream to provide this function.

I am trying to setup my new Linksys WVC80N to work remotely with my Airport (ME918LL/A) wireless router

A month ago, I purchased an Apple Airport tower(ME918LL/A) and managed to setup my WIFI successfully. Recently I purchased a Linksys monitoring camera (WVC80N) and managed to install it and it is working with my AIRPORT WIFI. I can control the camera and view it. I am trying to get it to work remotely on the internet and have no clue where to start. I need help. I have installed the airpot apps on my IPAD 3.

What are you setting it up as.. join wireless network .. the very worst setup, it will disappear.. reboot the whole network in order modem. router TC.. clients and it will likely reappear.
Tell us what network setup you are using..
If you setup with cable to a computer completely isolated from the network with TC also isolated.. finish the setup of everything you want. .before update.. then plug it into the network. .then restart everything in correct order.. it will work most of the time.

Do you mean an Airport Extreme Base Station connected to a Comcast Modem?

Trying to install Deskjet 3054A wireless printing with brand new Mac Book Pro

Hello,
I am trying to set up the wireless printing function on the Deskjet 3054A with a new Mac Book Pro, but not having any luck. When I connect via the USB the printer shows up, but once disconnected there is no communication. I tried to get the updated driver on the HP site, but nothing ever downloaded and it kept taking me to the setup page.
Is this All-In-One compatible with the new Mac OS 10.10 for wireless printing?

Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some connectivity issues to you Mac 10.10.
Just so you are aware, the printer does not have a full feature software and driver package available for the Mac 10.10 operating system.
You can however try the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.

I am trying to setup VPN with QuickVPN

Hi I am trying to setup VPN with WRVS4400N and Quick VPN on client side. I am fairly new to VPN and did some research and looked through the manual but can't seem to get it to work so far and from what I noticed many people are having this problem. So hopefully someone can tell what the problem is or at least point to right direction on solving this.
Basically it gives the "Failed to establish connection" generic error, shows it almost instantly..
It also showed the certificate error before but then I read about putting it in the installation directory and it stopped showing it, and whats strange is later I removed it but it doesnt show the error any longer, so don't know if its caching it somewhere or what can be going on...
In effort to look for answer and test things out I tried to connect to another location and setup a WRV200 router, I also get the same error but not instantly, it even shows "Activating Policy" but then doesn't go farther and shows the generic error...
Also with this setup strangly it always shows the certificate error, no matter if I put one in directory or not... Even tried to name it as the WRVS4400N certificate name...
Anyway VPN IPSec is disabled, and Client Accounts are configured and changed password several times to make sure its correct, VPN Passthrough enabled on all 3 options.
I tried to disable Windows Router, I also have a router in place do I possibly need to open some type of ports for the QuickVPN client?
Don't know yet whats going on if I am missing something or if there is some problem that needs work-around but if you know the answer or guesses of answer please let me know.

I am trying to setup iCal syncing with Mobile Me on Mac Pro and Mac Pro Notebook. I have accounts added in for MobileMe and Gmail. Problem is that iCal does not appear as one of the Sync choices in the MobileMe sync window on either computer?

I am trying to sync iCal with all my computers and devices via MobileMe. I cannot sync iCal on my Mac Pro nor Mackbook Pro. I believe accounts to be setup properly BUT on both computers there is NO choice to select iCal among the choices in "Sync Menu" on the MobileMe window in System Preferences. Help?

If you delete individual messages they will be deleted from other accounts.
If you setup the accounts as IMAP (which is the default for MobileMe accounts) you can remove the accounts and the other users will still have the email.
Alternatively if you don't want to see the account in the other user go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > MobileMe account > Advanced > remove the check mark for "enable account". This leaves the account and just turns it off so you don't see it and it doesn't send / receive messages.
Finally, you should be backing up your data for safekeeping so even if you did delete the account and the messages magically vanished you could restore them: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
