Trying to share ipad2 with apple tv...thoughts?

If you double-click the Home button on iPad 2 or later and on older iPads with iOS 5, you get a special window that shows all the APPS that you have opened and not closed.  If you touch the row of APPS at the bottom o the screen and slide to the right, a new set of things appears. You can adjust the sound and the brightness, and you can start or stop play from you iTunes music library. 
Just to the let of the sound volume slider you will see a button with a small rectangle on it and a small triangle at the bottom. This is the "Where do you want the video to be sent?" button.
On an iPad 1 you can only select to send the image to your iPad or to an Apple TV, but I'm not sure this button does anything since with iPad 1 you can only send Photos or Music to Apple TV and the controls for that are within the APPS. 
With newer iPads, that button  next to the volume control slider has an extra option to "Mirror" your iPad to the Apple TV. Click this and you will see the image on your iPad also displayed on your Apple TV.

  • Tried to sync ipad2 with itunes and got an error and now ipad frozen with usb cable/arrow/itunes logo.

    I'm trying to sync music from my itunes library on my PC to my ipad2. During process got an error(don't remember #) and then it went to backing up. Now the ipad is frozen with a usb cable coming up to a white arrow and then the itunes logo. The ipad will turn on and off but nothing else. Any ideas?

    Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
    If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
    Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
    If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

    Actually when LR 5 starts for the first time after it is installed it will have a dialog to Buy, Try or Enter a serial number. You select Enter a serial number and enter the LR 5 serial number first and then because it is an upgrade serial number it will ask for the serial number of a Previous version. You then enter the LR 1 serial number.

    Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good. If your computer/iTunes does not recognize the iPad, then the cable is probably bad.
    Try this first -  Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. I have tried to download it at different times of the day but with the same results. I have been in contact with Apple support and have tried different options with the same result. I cannot download a new Version because in my Purchased List the applicaiton (FaceTime) is still there, and because I have halted it it tells me to resume. I can’t, because the same thing is going to happen. I have tried all the various troubleshooting tips supplied by my ISP and also Apple Support with no luck. I am currently working on a IMac OS 10.6.7. Has anybody got any ideas? Any suggestion would help. Thanks

    Not much consolation but even new products can have issues and might need a trip to a store to return/replace.
    The reason i asked about the LED on the AppleTV is that occasionally it thinks it's paired with a specific remote and ignores others - the unpair keypress I described is quick and free.

    Trying where? What sort of email address? The following answer is based on a guess as to what you are talking about.
    If you already have an @me.com address, perhaps as a result of having had a MobileMe account, and you are now setting up an iCloud account with an Apple ID you will find you will be asked to create a new @me.com address, and that you can't add your existing one because it is already an Apple ID.
    You can do one of two things:
    1. Sign out at System Preferences; sign in with your existing @me.com address and enable Mail.
    2. Stay signed in with the present ID and add your @me.com address in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
    If you have further questions, or if your situation is different from what I've assumed, do please post back, but in a suitable forum - this one is specifically about using these Forums.

    It's ok to share the same AppleID for iTunes.  Use Separate ID's for iCloud, iMessage, and Facetime.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

    I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
    The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
    The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
    Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?
