Trying to sign in to lightroom 3 but program shuts down
any ideas why when I click on the Lightroom 3 icon on my desktop that it shuts down?
Do you mean that the program launches, at least partially, when the icon is pressed but closes down immediately afterwards?
Is this new behaviour after it's started okay in the past? Have you altered your computer or done any new installations just beforehand?
What's your operating system?

That looks like a JSON bookmarks backup file, from 11-01-2012. Did you try '''restoring''' that file?

Never messed with JSON files other than viewing them on a few occasions out of curiosity. There are no line breaks which make them very difficult to read.
As far as working with that file in {like} NotePad goes:
A. use Find / Search for each indecent of a '''"uri"''' string, then "copy and paste" the uri into another text file, and then move on to the next "uri" string.
B. use a text program where a filter can be set for the "uri" field in the JSON file for a line break or to "scrape out" the "uri"s only for display or export to a list of uri's.
Or try using an online JSON editor like this, to try to display only the "uri" field.

Have you tried to reset it? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds and see if you can get it to reboot.

My MAC ran through the first two options dealing with thumbnails, but crashed during the "restore database" step and now I have a mess. Help, please. Thank you.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -

I loaded Maverick and went to empty trash - it emptied only partially - out of 658,000 or more files, now it counts remaining files 235,217 but then shuts down the trash? As it finishes the count window it closes - tried to empty only unlocked and or locked - does the same to both - it was emptying all files previously - help
didn't question the amount of over 600,000 files as I thought Maverick was updating my system from snow leopard - right? I missed something? HELP PLEASE

Without proper system information and other details nobody can tell you anything. If the program shuts down after a while then presumably it fails to verify your activation, so refer to this:

Every single time i eject either my iphone, ipad or ipod nano, itunes freezes up, the computer becomes unresponsive. Usually i can use the mouse to highlight icons but the system doesn't respond, the keyboard doesn't work and I have to do a hard reset.

New computer win 8.1 pro, installed my creative Suite 4 Design premium but it shuts down when I try to use any of the programs and gives me an error code 147:20. How can I fix this? Is this a conflict with win 8.1 pro?
You need to adjust your security stuff/ permissions and possibly use compatibility modes. It means that your licensing service is being blocked/ shut down.

Try force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

Since I upgraded to iphoto 11, I have not be able to access my photos without the program locking up, not respondiong, and shutting down. iphoto has went into repair on its own, but still shuts down. I have sent in reports each time, but have not figured out the problem. Has anyone else had this problem?
Post the first 50 - 100 lines of the crash log?
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I have elements 9 and just a day ago everything was fine but now all of a sudden any time I try to convert or save my project or even burn it to a DVD the program shuts down on me.

Is the crash/shutdown for this one specific project or does it occur in new projects as well?
On what computer operating system are you running Premiere Elements 9 and are you running Premiere Elements as the 9.0.1 Update?
In cases such as these, the first factor to rule in or out are the preferences/setting file. Here you want to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file.
The directions to its location will vary with the operating system. So the operating system information is important to post. Some of the many factors
that we need to evaluate
a. does the problem exist with and without antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
b. are you using a pen and tablet device instead of a mouse.
c. does your computer need a clean up/clear out - is your computer optimized
Your answers to the questions above will help us to customize and plan appropriate troubleshooting strategy. So, let us start with the above and then decide what next.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
