Trying to size my photo for wallpaper on iPad Retina

I am trying to use one of my photos, sized 2048 X 1536, for use as wallpaper. I have no problem selecting the desired photo. When I do that, the selected photo is shown enlarged, too big to fit the whole photo onto the screen. At the bottom of the selected photo it says "move and scale" but when I try to size the photo I get no response. I can pinch or spread the photo onscreen, but when I release it, it goes back to being too large.
In other words, how do I make the "move and scale" function work as intended? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

You want to print two photos on an A4 page, right?
1 - select the two photos and click on Print.
2 - set Page size to A4 borderless
3 - set Print size to Custom
4 - enter a width of A4's width less .25" and length to A4/2 less .25".
That should give you 2 photos per page with a minimal white border. If you try to set the width to exactly the width of the A4 page and exactly half the length it will revert to 1 photo per page. You can experiment with the .25" dimension a bit and might be able to get it a bit larger.

  • Unable to move and scale photos for wallpaper on IPad mini after iOS 7 update.

After update to iOS7 on my IPad mini, I am able to select my personal photos for the wallpaper, but I cannot move and scale them to fit.  The option is there but unresponsive.  I already had to remove the protective case to access the new control panel via up swipe which must begin below the screen next to the "home" button to initiate.  Now I can no longer personalize the wall paper with my own photos.  It's been a frustrating experience without any real perceptible improvements.

What a nightmare! Had I known what was in store for me, I would never have updated my iPAD Mini to iOS7.
The calendar with it's ultra-thin Helvetica is near impossible to see. To add insult to injury, not being able
to move and size a wallpaper photo is just totally unacceptable. So annoying when software is thrown out
there for the general public when it's obviously not ready. I tried the solution:
Go to Settings > General > Assessibility > Reduce Motion "set to OFF"
Next, in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose Wallpaper (pick the wallpaper) - you should now be able to "Move and Scale" the photo that you've chosen for your wallpaper.
After you've SET the wallpaper, you can go back to Parallax motion by turning Reduce Motion to "ON" (see step 1)
And it just DOES NOT WORK. Plain and simple. I am so tired of Apple products that have bugs that we are all expected to work through and work out while paying anywhere from $500 to $2000 for a product. And of course you can't get online support in a quick, efficient manner. My big old $600 bite out the Apple is tasting mighty sour at the moment.

  • Why can't I scale my photos for wallpaper?

When I select a photo for wallpaper I can't scale it.

I'd imagine you're trying to zoom out on a photo. I think there's a problem with scaling if the dimensions of the photo are not fit to wallpaper size.
The workaround is in the photo app itself, select the photo you wish to use. Resize it to what you want the wallpaper to look like. Take a screenshot (press the home button and sleep button at the same time).
Set the screenshot as wallpaper. That should fit nicely.

  • Problems sizing photos for wallpaper

Since the IOS software updates I have been unable to resize photos for wallpaper & lock screen, they just don't remain the size or position I set.

    You can try this:

If that doesn't fix things, you may want to try my workaround:

  • Is Apple working on a fix for editing photos for wallpaper, call contacts with photo, etc? The iPhone used to be so intuitive for everything but that tanked with the ios7 upgrade

iPhone 5 was so intuitive before the update. Editing photos has changed for the worst-any word of a fix for editing photos for wallpaper? Not a work around, a fix. If I wanted this kind of photo editing I'd still be using my droid x.
Anyway to go back to ios6?

  • Having trouble sizing a photo for wallpaper in iOS 7

When I try to move and scale a photo for my home screen wallpaper on my iPad3, using iOS 7, it immediately reverts to it's original size, which is larger than the screen. Is this a bug in iOS 7 or am I doing something wrong?

I was able to move and scale the wallpaper on my iPad 4 by turning off the parallax motion....

  • Trying to layout a photo for printing in iPhoto '09

I'm fairly new to a Mac and iPhoto and have been trying to get a photo to print half-size on an A4 sheet of paper and can't seem to do it. I'm using A4 photo paper and just want to re-size and layout a photo so it only takes up half the A4 sheet (i.e. A5) and then put another beside it to take up the other half. Previously on a PC and with PaintShopPro I could just resize and rotate photos so they were laid out on a page just the way I wanted them. Is this possible in iPhoto '09 or do I need to buy Aperture, Photoshop elements or PaintShopPro in order to do this?
    Thanks

  • Organizing some photos for use on iPad

I have thousands of pictures in iPhoto. I have an iPad that I would like to display 200 - 300 of my favorite photos on. How can I select these photos for syncing in iTunes without moving the photos from their current event? I started to create an event called iPad Photos but quickly realized that when I flag a photo and add it to the iPad Photos event, it is removed from the original event.
Also this may be slightly off-topic but when large (above 1.5MB) photos from iPhoto are synced to an iPhone or iPad do they reside on the device at full resolution? I don't need full resolution on a smaller screen such as the iPad or iPhone and don't want to waste memory space. Do I need to take all the full resolution photos and resize before letting iTunes sync with that folder/event?

Create an iPhoto album with the photos you want to sync to your iPad. Connect the iPad to your Mac and launch iTunes. Click on the iPad icon and go to the Photos tab. Select iPhoto in the *+Sync Photos from...+* drop down menu. There select the radio button titled Selected albums, events, ......
In the Albums section select the album with the photos you want to sync and sync.
If you want to reduce the file size of those photos you'll have to export them out of iPhoto with the JPEG Quality level set at Medium or Low. Put those photos in a folder on your hard drive. In iTunes select Choose folder in that drop down menu, navigate to the folder with the reduced sized image files and select that folder. Then sync.

  • Setting picture for wallpaper on iPad

I can't scale photo used for wallpaper. Photo comes up too large and blurry.

This is known issue with iOS7.  I'm sure an update will take care of this, but in the meantime, I have found that High Definition pictures work well as wallpaper.  Of course you can choose one of the new Wallpapers that came with iOS7 as well.

  • Any way of tagging photos for deletion on iPad?

Hello all! My first message here, but Google constantly turns up these pages for results, so I have read quite a bit! My question has to do with iPad and photo management. Basically, I just got a DSLR camera, and I have been taking tons and tons of photos. With my iPad, I would LOVE to be able to do the first round of sorting on the iPad so that I could easily do it in bed or sitting around the house. The editing and whatnot, I am OK with doing that on the computer.
From what I have read, the iPhoto App doesn't support syncing between the two very well, and I know that when you sync from iPhoto you don't have an option to delete unless you unsync them. So I am hoping that someone might know a way to possibly tag a photo, or make some designation that will sync back to the computer, so that I can flip through the thousands of photos...and tag them "delete" or something like that, then can jump on the computer after I sync and just delete all photos with the keyword.
I don't have iPhone for iOS yet, but the reveiws seem to say its pretty much a standalone product, but I am certainly willing to pay for it or any other app that would allow the functionality I am describing. I believe since my Aperture uses the iPhoto Album, I should be able to do anything in there as well once I have made the tags (or edits) on the iPad.
Thanks so much for any feedback!

No.  If the phone won't start and function, there's no way to backup or sync the photos (or any data).
There are forensic methods that involve disasembling the phone.  If you're being investigated by the sercret police or goverment officials, you might ask them to save your pictures as a favor before executing you (just a thought).
