Trying to slow down my 60fps mp4 footage..

I have footage shot with the GoPro HD camera...1280x720 H.264 @ 60fps
i want to conform it to 24 or 30 fps but Cinema Tools won't all this option.
I can transcode in MPEG Stream clip to any number of codecs but still the footage won't slow down, nor will Cinema Tools offer the conform option
anyone have any ideas.

so...here is how I solved my problem...
I did a batch list in MPEG StreamClip transcode to QT format.
compression is Apple ProRes 422 HQ @ 100% quality, no sound (didn't need it),1280x720 unscaled and Deinterlace video. the rest I believe is default, so I didn't mess with it. what the above did was prepare if for Cinema Tools then FCP 7. I then opened the transcoded clip in CT and did a 30 fps conform.
the resulting slo mo is fine.
I am still experimenting on other transcode methods but the above is fine for me at the moment. I hope this helps.

speed = distance x time
so, to slow down speed, your clip/title has to be 'longer'.

Hi All;
I would like to reduce the tempo of downloaded iTunes songs. My current software for this can't handle the MP4 format. I can't convert them to MP3 because of protections built into the system. Can anyone recommend a software package (free or otherwise) that does a good job editing these files? I'm using XP.

Skip,
Since you refer to "protections," you probably mean the .m4p format, the DRM-encumbered AAC format sold only in the iTunes Music Store. Only Apple software can handle them, and it does not provide a way to modify tempo.
If you wish to use editing, etc, software for your songs, I suggest you buy unprotected files from online stores such as amazon.com. As for the protected tracks that you are already stuck with, you can do as polydorus suggests and burn them to an audio CD. Think how handy it would be to have them on an audio CD.

I am trying to slow down all the clips in a project to 75% (Sports footage). There seems to be a way to do this individually but no way to do it across all clips. Is there? if not, sure would like to see this in the next version.

hey, ive tried to slow down a blue loop (dance beat 053) but when i change the tempo it distorts or leaves out beats or something from the loop! i just want to slow it down a bit! any help?

I have Club Dance Beat 053. Is that the one? It doesn't seem to lend itself well to tempo changes. I think that can happen with real audio loops.

Does Exporting 60fps on a 30fps timeline slows down export

I am editing a wedding videos with 2-3 cameras. The main videographer likes to shoot on 60fps while the other 2 shoots on 30fps.
I bring it to a 30fps timeline and set the 60fps clips to "scale to frame size"
after the edit, I export it out to 1080, 30 fps. And it takes about 9 hours to export a 40 mins video.
So I'm just curious if my 60fps clip on a 30fps timeline with 2 other 30fps angles is actually slowing down my export? What's the proper way that I should do it?
I just upgraded to a sad from a hdd and I thought it would actually make things faster but it seems like there is no changes.
I also have a 8gb ram. Does the problem lies on my timeline or my mac?

I have edited several 3 camera AVCHD weddings on this about significantly upgraded 1 year old PC notebook and while i really do the exporting on a desktop, but if you tell me your real export settings I will try to tell you what I see, now I do not have the complication of any 60p camera footage.
I cannot understand what you are doing with the "scale to frame size" process if both cameras are all the cameras are the same resolution???

How do I make CS4 not blur frames together when I slow down footage.

I'm trying to get an effect similar to the oppening credits of Reservior Dogs, but whenever I slow down video, Premiere makes it look all ultra-smooth, which would be nice in most cases but in this one I want to just leave the frames as they are and not have any motion-smoothing. Any advice?

Okay, the Posterize Time effect didn't work (I just ended up with a blank screen), BUT, I found that when I export the video at the frame-rate I want it to be, it creates the effect perfectly. Thanks for your help anyway!

Thanks for your response. I am not an experienced user of FC or other video editing software but if its that hit and miss I think I will go to the trouble of finding some better software - I have a busy enough life as is, I don;t want to get into second guessing what a software problem might be!
I have just successfully exported my video to a master file using one of the Apple codec options so it looks like it could be to do with the H.264 codec. I am wondering if Apples Compressor software would solve this problem - the only way to try this it to buy it, there is not trial for the compressor app. Any ideas?

From the way you are describing it, it sounds like the HD has failed. Please look over Gray screen appears during startup for troubleshooting steps. You can also run Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode, it may take 2-3 passes for any error codes to appear and each pass takes approximately 30-60 minutes. However either way you should plan on taking it into an Apple Store or AASP for service.

Yep, you turn of Flash in a better way. Install FlashBlock, an extension from here-

This would block Firefox from automatically downloading Flash content. If you wish to view the video, simply click on the Placeholder for that video. Simple!!!

Why does my footage Slow down and loose audio when imported to after effects cs6?

Whenever I import video of any kind into after effects, it slows down and looses audio. It happens for every video. The weird thing is, it seems like it doesnt happen to anyone else on the internet. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE!!!! I am about to cry. I cant do anything with this stupid software! If there is a solution please tell me. Its really annoying.

Slows down when? When you preview? Do you know how to preview?
If you are pressing the space bar to preview the video then the behavior you are seeing is normal. AE will not playback in real time with autio unless you do a ram preview (look it up). You must learn to use the software.

Opening CC project in CC 2014 and having slow down issues

I need to update my project with the newest version of Premeire so I can share it with another editor. When I open the old project in the up to date Premiere, everything takes 10 seconds. Hit space bar - 10 seconds before anything moves. Hit it again to stop - 10 seconds. Everything.
So then I tried an XML out from my old project and opening it in updated Premiere. The slow-down is gone! but all the data I entered for all my footage (this is a feature) has been erased!
Can anybody help me with either the slow down or the XML loss of meta-data?

An Update.
I exported an EDL out of CS5 and then brought the EDL into CC2014. I relinked the media in question and it works fine. The EDL however is not ideal for what I am doing here, as the relinking in CC2014 is not working properly either.

Adobe CS6 slow down

Here's my specs:
OSX 10.8.5
Pr6 6.0.5
Imac 3.4 i7
24GB ram
Plenty of space on my Mac HD
Media on a usb3 drive.
Recently installed the trial of CC
All of a sudden CS6 slows down and I get the beach ball when performing certain processes such as:
Duplicating a sequence
Renaming a bin
Dropping a merged clip into the project window.
It's really weird, it plays back my RED footage fine but when I do certain tasks
as I listed above, it beach balls and I can't work.
In the activity monitor I see that Premiere process hits over %100 cpu, when I do these processes.
Any idea how to fix this? I tried restarting, tried disbeling cuda and doing software only.
This just started happening and is a major time sink.

Seems to just be affecting that one project file.
When I open a different project file, things work okay. When I create a new project file on the same media drive, things are okay (I often work off externals for clients so I keep everything on th drive).
Anybody have an idea what's going on? I am working with 5k RED files but the playback isn't the problem, it's those weird issues above.

Editing tips for slowing down HD (flash) clips? Trimming HD clips?

Hello all... I'm new to HD flash content and have a couple of questions about some techniques that could speed up my workflow. I'm used to 'log and capture', but just now beginning my first projects ever using 'log and transfer' of HD content from flash cards. Anyway, here's what I'm hoping I could do:
1. In the past with DV tape, I would drop an entire captured clip (usually and entire tape worth of video) into my Sequence then change the speed of that entire clip from 100% to 80% for my editing needs before cutting it up for editing. With this new log and transfer, it takes every clip between takes and makes them their own independent clip (IE- each time you stop recording on the shoot it makes what you just recorded a clip, whether it's 10 seconds or one hour long). So instead of having a hour's worth of footage with pink break point markers after doing a 'DV Start/Stop Detect' function, you get a boat load of 10 to 15 second individual clips.
Question: Is it possible to select all the clips or set something in the sequence settings to change all of the clips speed from 100% (real time) to say 80% (bit of slow motion) without having adjust each individual clip one-by-one?
2. In the past with DV tape, after slowing down my entire clip I would then go through and make cuts a second before and a second after each and every break point (or pink break point marker after doing a DV Start/Stop Detect). Maybe I've always done this the hard way, who know, so I was wondering if there's a way to select all of this HD content in my Sequence (the individual clips as described in my first question) and automatically have FCP trim a second off the start and finish of each clip (whether it's been slowed down or not)? This obviously would accomplish being able to add transitions between clips (unless there's another way to accomplish adding transitions between clips without trimming them?).
Anyway pointers would be great! I love the HD flash content, but now I'm just realizing my old techniques with DV when it comes to the basic editing isn't going to work with this HD content from flash cards, making my job take 2-3 times as long as it would in the past. So I'm hoping FCP has added these kind of 'shortcuts' much like they did with being able to apply a single transition to a selected batch of clips.
I'm up to date on all software and what not... running FCP 7.0.1.

Thanks for the response, but I have access to the FCP user manual and have already read that. I usually only come here as a last resort. I'm hoping somebody can actually answer my two specific questions vs. directing me to a user manual that I already have. Specifically the two questions I asked above with a simple set of instructions on how to accomplish both, it either is at all possible. The user manual did not provide those answers for me and if it did, I'm not understanding it.
And if what you are saying is I can import, or 'log and transfer', all of the footage from one card as one long clip then treating it like it's DV 'log and capture' footage I'd love to know the settings on how to accomplish that as well. I tried that and looked for settings and read the manual and I'm not seeing where that is possible.
I'm not a Hollywood film producer, so spoon feeding might be necessary! I'm hoping to get 'on the fly' help and advice from others that might know what I'm trying to accomplish and do it themselves all the time vs. sitting in front of my editing stations for a week trying to figure it out on my own after reading a vague user manual.

Strange slow down

ok, so i'm trying to wrap my head around how this happened. i opened fcp and it loaded all my open projects at a normal speed.
than i quit fcp and had to do a file transfer. i've two macs hooked up via ethernet and started transferring files. none of these files are in any of my fcp projects.
i opened up fcp during the file transfer, and it took like ten minutes to load just 1 project. it was massively, ridiculously slow. so i quit fcp, stopped the ethernet transfer, reopened fcp and it loaded at normal speed.
how and why did the ethernet transfer slow down the opening of fcp?

Not only that, but FCP on startup scans mounted drives for footage/renders. If your remote drive is mounted FCP will wander off looking there. This is exasperated by the bandwidth occupied by the copy in progress...
