Trying to split a table (so I can format across pages)
Hi, I'm fairly new to a Mac and to using Pages 09 (I picked a great time to change systems when writing up something important!)
How do I get a Table to split (as you can easily with MS Word) so that I can easily format my tables and text across multiple pages? At the moment I either have the title of a cell and then the text linked to it split across two pages - which looks silly - or I have to insert returns into the cell above it so the heading of a cell and it's contents both appear on the next page - but which then also makes the previous cell look silly with so much empty space.
I can find all the options for splitting cells into more rows or columns but not an option to just split a table. Am I missing something or have Apple missed something?

You missed nothing and Apple missed nothing too.
The engineers are free to make the choices which they think beeing the best ones.
It's really easy to achieve your goal.
Activate the mode "Preview"
The slider which is at the bottom of the window allow us to adjust the table width so that it fits in the page.
In the Table inspector, we may adjust the rows height so that the wanted number of them appear in a single page without the holes generated by empty rows insertion.
Oops, I wrote my response for Numbers, not Pages.
but what I wrote may be done in Pages too.
For the width, we have no slider but we may adjust it thru the Inspector of Measures.
For the number of rows same scheme in Pages and Numbers.
Jean-Marie … was inserted in the table to illustrate a script which may easily remove unwanted rows and, from my point of view, this one was unwanted

If you need the date to show up in a a report, just enter the SQL. If you want to use this SQL for a form, create a view with this SQL and base the from on the view (dependent on your requirements you need to write an 'instead of' trigger on the view).

PLEASE HELP!HI,
First, go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and move the cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari. If it continues to crash...
Install the v10.6.4 Combo Update
Then repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. -
Spry menu bar changed since I tried to split cells in a table! Help!
I am VERY new to web design, so I apologize in advance for being ignorant. I am trying to learn!
I had inserted a spry menu bar that looked fine and even tested fine!
I subsequently tried to split a section of my table in the web page in order to have 3 columns of centered text. The first time I did this, the spry menu bar became vertical even though it is listed as horizontal. I looked up a forum answer, copied the code from the suggestion, and that seemed to fix the problem (although I still don't know what EXACTLY happened)
I tried to split the table again (I had undone everything prior to this), only this time, the spry menu bar is located outside the page in the left hand corner where my background (I have a wrapper) is. I tried opening another page where I already had a nice spry menu bar, and it did the same thing!! This makes me think it is the CSS sheet for the menu bar that was modified somehow when I split the table. I'm pasting the CSS here below, so if anyone sees any issues that might cause this problem, please let me know!! I have been working for the most part in design view, and haven't really modified the code other than to put a wrapper in and a facebook like button, which I've now lost in the slitting cells catastrophe. Thanks in advance!!!

background: #FFF;Well, I took a picture of my dreamweaver screen, so you can see what I am looking at...
You can see that the spry menu bar shows up in the top left corner in my design view, but on the website, it is located in the correct place! Maybe it is a Dreamweaver problem??? This happened when I tried to split the cell underneath the section that says "Let NOLA Scribes help you!" into 5 cells so that I could insert 5 differnet pictures and captions. Now, when I open the other linked pages in Dreamweaver, it does the same thing! I'm using an older version of Dreamweaver, but from what I read, that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks in advance for your help! -
How do I split a table over two pages in Pages?
Hi
I'm trying to split a table in Pages so that the text in the two adjacent rows will fall on two separate pages but I cannot find a way to do this. This was something that is easy to do if using MS Word so I can't believe it would be a feature missing from Pages?
The document I'm working with is my resume and I had my jobs nicely formatted in a long table so it was easy to work with (job title, dates, achievements etc. in different cells). Since updating to Yosemite and Pages 5.5 I've noticed that I now have my career summary and 'Professional Experience' title on the first page but the table with all my job information is now starting on the second page - leaving just a lot of blank space on the first page. One of the jobs on the second page now also splits across pages 2 and 3. I can see that it is trying to keep everything in the table together and that what I need to do is just split the table at a certain point so that I can put the first part of the table back onto page 1 and the second part of it on page 2 - but it won't give me any option to do this.
Any ideas?Although this thread is several months old, I felt compelled to reply as I have just encountered this gaping hole in Pages functionality. Jerrold Green 1 is incorrect in asserting that the OP's problem is that Pages won't split a cell across pages. The OP clearly indicates that Pages is not moving rows that won't fit on the first page of the table, but rather it moves the whole table to the next page.
So for example, if I have a paragraph of text at the top of page 1, and then insert a table under this paragraph that contains more rows than will fit on the remainder of the page, rather than the rows that won't fit being moved to page 2, Pages moves the entire table to page 2 leaving a big blank space on page 1. But bizarrely if the table contains more rows than will fit on one whole page, then it will move the overflow rows onto the third page, making you wonder why it didn't just do this on page 1.
This is with the table arrangement set to Move with Text. If I set it to Stay on Page, the end of the table just flows over the footer and off the page into oblivion. If I set Text Wrap to None, it just plonks the table right on top of the other text. So it gives you the option to do something silly, but not the most sensible option.
If I am missing something, then can someone please correct me. Without this basic functionality Pages cannot be considered a professional Word Processor. I'll unfortunately have to go back to MS Word. -
From which table and field can I get batch split indicator?
Dear friends,
There is batch split indicator at VL02N screen. From which table and field can I get this indicator?
Thanks regards..Hi,
I dont think there is anythign called batch split indicator.
You can find that there is a batch split in a delivery if LIPS-UECHA field is updated for a particular delivery. If UECHA is filled, then the number means that for the item number mentioned in UECHA, those records are the split records.
i.e. For example say for a line item 10, there are 2 split items in a delivery. In this case, there will be two line items with LIPS-POSNR = 90001 and 90002. These line items will have LIPS-UECHA = 10. This means that the items 90001 and 90002 are the child batch items for the parent line item 10 as mentioned in UECHA field.
btw....u can check LIPS-CHSPL if this is what you are looking for.
I hope this answers your question. If you have any doubt, pls lemme know -
Can a Table Cell span more than one page?
I'm working with tables in Pages to create a list of literature and important takeaways from each article. Sometimes the important information is more than I can fit on one page. However, Pages doesn't seem to be able to handle splitting cells across multiple pages. Instead, it seems to "push" the overflow text beyond the page, so I can't even see it as I'm typing.
In Word, such situations just cause the table cell to continue on to the next page. But I can't figure out how to do that in Pages. (And I'm a little concerned that there's not a way to handle this.)
Thanks!
GaryThe cell in question does split across 2 pages. "Do I need to" do that isn't really the point.
My question was whether Pages can handle splitting a table cell across 2 pages.
Pages can't; Word can.
(I'm trying to switch over for all of my future work into Pages, so there's a learning curve for me. The type of work I'm doing does have cells that split over 2 pages. In Word, it's not a big deal. Unfortunately, in Pages, I need to split the row in order to do the same thing. Which is kind of a pain, since I'm building the table dynamically and may insert rows above, below or between existing rows. In Word, it automatically handles moving the cells across multiple pages - or merging them back if I edit the text or insert/remove rows above.) -
Splitting a Table by number of records
I'm very new at designing forms, but I'll try to elaborate as much as I can what my situation is and hopefully someone can assist.
What I'm using is LiveCycle 8.1 thats a plugin to our SAP environment.
I've created a form that recieves data from a function module and displays that information. In the data thats returned there's 2 detail data tables that sits inside a row of header data.
What I'm trying to do is that based on the number of detail records is split those two tables between multiple pages so that the information will print properly based on the layout thats been predetermined. Both tables that get printed have no header or footer information, and uses 7 columns, with an optional row below the detail row data that should show up when there's message info thats associated to the detail data row.
I've tried to use content areas, and while that works, it generates the data for the first content area before it does the second, and there ends up being more sheets printed thats needed.
I've tried to use conditional breaks, but I can't seem to get them to work at all.
Any help would be appreciated. Can you get a sample data file out of SAP? If so can you send the sampel data and the template file to [email protected] and I will have a look. Please include a description of what you are expecting the output to look like.

I am trying to have access tables of the Sql Server through the Oracle
I am trying to have access tables of the Sql Server through the Oracle and this being occurred the error:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: [Generic Connectivity using ODBC][H006] The init parameter <HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO> is not set.

I created the ODBC with name HSMSQL.
I made all the configurations in the archives

But when I execute query the error occurs:

ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from HSMSQL
Please they help me, thanks, Paulo.Hi,
It seems that your configuration is Ok. By the way, the workaround for this error is:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Transparent gateway for ODBC][H001] The environment variable <HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO> is not set.
* Set HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO in the hs{sid}init.ora file to the data source name.
Example: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = <ODBC DataSource Name>
* Make sure the hs{sid}init.ora file exists in the ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory and has the same name as the SID in the LISTENER.ORA.
Example: If SID=hsodbc in the listener.ora file, then the hs{sid}init.ora file would be named ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/inithsodbc.ora

I have windows 8.1 on DVD & on USB CF Reader/Card. I've followed the full steps in bootcamp, but when it restarts and its time to select the bootcamp partition to install windows (after alt rebooting to the efi startup) I get the "Windows can't be installed on this storage device. The chosen harddisk contains a MBR-partition-table. Windows can only be installed on GPT-harddisks on EFI-systems" error.
I've scoured the internet trying different solutions that seem to work for everyone else, but to no avail. I've reformatted from that screen, doesn't help. I've removed bootcamp partition and manually partitioned using disk util, leaving it empty once partition-wise, and filling it with a blank partition the second time. I've done a full back up and clean re-install of Yosemite, and nothing seems to be working.
Thats when I switched to DVD install, as I heard sometimes you can't install with a CF card. When I alt-boot, I can see EFI-windows and windows, but if I select EFI-windows, same problem as before, and if I select windows, I get the black screen of "no bootable device please insert boot disk and press any key."
I've been stuck w/o bootcamp for over 2 years now. Anyone, please help?
Mid 2010 iMac running 256gb SSD, Yosemite 10.10.1 trying to install windows 8.1I am having the same problem. Windows is trying to install. It identifies the various partitions but says that I cannot install Windows on the Boot Camp partition or any other. I select Drive options (advanced) and Format the Boot Camp drive, but it makes no difference.
This is the Windows error:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer BIOS menu.
I am not sure what Csound1 is suggesting with that post above. There are some involved suggestions over here <https://discussions.apple.com/message/23548999#23548999> about using Disk Utility to delete the Boot Camp partition and create new ones - is that the idea? -
Please can you help? How can I split a table into two, as opposed to splitting rows within a table?
This thread thought me something.
I just discovered that in Pages, when a table is selected (handles displayed) the duplicate menu item (cmd + D ) is disabled.
Itsn't in Numbers.
An other example of inconsistent behavior between Pages and Numbers

How to split a table in messages
Hi,
I've made a BPM which consumes 2 BAPIs. The first BAPI returns a table like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <ns1:MT_Search xmlns:ns1="http://www.prueba">
- <E_COMP_TAB>
<IBASE>1</IBASE>
<INSTANCE>1</INSTANCE>
</E_COMP_TAB>
- <E_COMP_TAB>
<IBASE>2</IBASE>
<INSTANCE>2</INSTANCE>
</E_COMP_TAB>
-</ns1:MT_Search>
My problem is when I try to split this table in 2 messages to send them to next BAPI, like this:
Message 1:
<E_COMP_TAB>
<IBASE>1</IBASE>
<INSTANCE>1</INSTANCE>
</E_COMP_TAB>
Message 2:
<E_COMP_TAB>
<IBASE>2</IBASE>
<INSTANCE>2</INSTANCE>
</E_COMP_TAB>
The table size is variable. I have a transformation step within a loop to try to split the table in 'n' messages, but I get this error when the workflow arrives to this step:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: Received HTTP response code 500 : Timeout
at com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.impl.core.queue.CallConsumer.onMessage(CallConsumer.java:146)
at com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.impl.core.queue.Queue.run(Queue.java:832)
at com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.runtime.MSWorkWrapper.run(MSWorkWrapper.java:56)
at com.sap.engine.frame.core.thread.Task.run(Task.java:64)
at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl5.SingleThread.execute(SingleThread.java:79)
at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl5.SingleThread.run(SingleThread.java:150)
How can I split a table with 'n' rows in 'n' messages to send them the next BAPI?
Thanks in advance,
Samantha.Hi,
Use a maping in your BPM,
This will be a 1: N mapping where the source is your RFC response and the target is the seconds BAPI's Request message.
The steps for 1:N mapping are,
1. In your message mapping make the target message type as 1 to unbounded.
2. In your Interface mapping make the target interface as 1 to unbounded.
In your BPM after the transformation step, use a Block with For Each and use the mapping output Multiline variable as the Block's For Each variable.
Inside the block do the needful.

Trying to create a table but being denied access
Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to APEX. I've been building applications on the apex installation we have at my job, but this is the first time i've actually tried installing this stuff at home.
I was successfully able to get 10g XE installed at home, and i was able to upgrade apex to 3.0.1.
I logged into apex (i tried both the SYSTEM account and the extra workspace developer account i made) and i tried creating a table, but kept getting the following:
Creating table "TESTTABLE" failed.
Failed Creating Table ORA-01031: insufficient privileges ORA-00942: table or view does not exist ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception
The interesting thing is that I was able to make the table if i chose NOT to have a primary key generated. But if i tried to make a table that had a primary key "Populated from a new sequence" then that above error resulted.
Anyone have a clue on how I can fix this problem?
Thanks!
-JohnJohn:
I recommend that you login to the administration interface as the ADMIN user, and create a new workspace. Once you create a new workspace with a new schema, you should not experience the problem you describe. First, make sure you follow Step 3, of the How to Upgrade section of the following document:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html
This will change the password for the ADMIN account. Now go to:
http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin
Supply ADMIN for the username and the password you supplied following Step 3 in the document above. Click Manage Workspace, Create Workspace, and then complete the wizard to create a new workspace.
Thanks,

Hi everyone.
Im new to these forums, and have decided (or more like
forced..hehe) to use CSS. Now, i am going over the tutorials, but
have yet to see something that can help me out. (Or my CSS
understanding needs more understanding). I am trying to make a
table/div bleed all the way to the top and bottom.. If you take a
look at this site:
http://www.helenbwilson.com
Ok, I want to keep the black background, but I want the white
to run all the way to the top and bottom-that is, just having black
to the sides. Can I acheive this, without having to do a complete
makeover of the site? I am willing to do that, but right now, I
want to get my friends site up and running, and when one is
complete, I want to go in and re-do it in CSS (Which i will make
another topic so I can get help with that..) But for right now, I
was wondering if there is something I can do about it right now. I
am using Dreamweaver 8.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, and hopefully I will get better at CSS..
-psypentyou have to remember what stacks are for, and many people don't.
they're not designed to categorise and group images. they're designed to group images which are almost identical. for example, when I'm shooting a neighbourhood bird, I'll usually take 10 or more photos of the bird in the same setting with almost the same pose. I'm not sure which photo will have better focus or in which photo the bird's expressions will be better. once back in Aperture, I can group these near-identical photos into a stack and then rank them (I actually prefer to rank them first before stacking). the result is that I only see the best image from that set. if there are other photos in the stack that are different or that I might want to use independently, they'll have to be removed from the stack.
alternatively but not as ideal, you could view the images in Multi mode, applying ratings and keywords to the images even while they are in stacks. you could then use Smart Albums to get to specific images within stacks by turning on the 'Ignore Stacks' preference at the bottom of the filter HUD.
