How can I STOP iTunes from automatically trying to add podcasts to my iPod when I plug it in and sync it, so I can manage the files? I have already unchecked "Sync Podcasts" and "Automatically include,"yet EVERY time I sync it,it still transfers podcasts as the last step, and at other times randomly, when trying to just add some MP3's to a playlist, for example.  I can't seem to find any other option to uncheck, and can't find an answer from my so-far internet searching.

erict, you blew me away with that suggestion! It was something so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt thought of it! But in the end it didn't work, which I was really surprised about. On Windows anytime anything was moved itunes was hoplessly lost, but on this mac it still kept up with everything. I tried renaming folders, moving folders, and even renaming moved folders but it still kept trying to import.
I even went as far as deleting EVERYTHING i had moved to the Mac, which didnt really work. It still kept trying to import what wasnt there which made it continue to freeze up. However, after doing this it, the freezing was not nearly as bad. It gave me enough of a break to cancel it through the itunes dialog box at the top of the app. So in the end, thats all I really needed to do, only before I had deleted everything the freezing would not allow me to do it.
So now Im reimporting everything again, only slowly, and only a few Artists at a time.

  • TS1717 when trying to download podcasts to my ipod I get an error message that the download was interupted and to pust the get button to continue.  The same message happens every time I push the get button.

When trying to download podcasts to my ipod I get an error message that says the download was interupted and to push get button to resume.  When I push the get button the same thing happens again and again.  It never completes the download.  What do I do?

trying to add podcasts to shuffle I tunes says they are there but when I play them only a few are available?

    Hello rhdarby2,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iPod shuffle: Playing audiobooks and podcasts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1831
Adding Audiobooks and Podcasts to iPod shuffle
The Autofill feature of iTunes will not add audiobooks and podcasts to any iPod model. They can be manually added by dragging them to the iPod shuffle in iTunes.
For iPod shuffle (3rd generation), you must enable Manually manage music in the Summary tab to drag songs to iPod shuffle. Additionally, you can automatically sync audiobooks using the Music tab and sync podcasts using the Podcasts tab in iTunes.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • I'm trying to download podcast and it says preparing to download, but nothing downloads. since i upgraded to the io6

im trying to download podcast and it says preparing to download but nothing happens, since i upgraded to the io6

    Stacey Lou,
All I can say is I am having the same problem on my 4th Gen iPod Touch, but not my 3rd gen iPad.  Occasionally, the podcast app will work, other times, all the downloads get stuck on "Preparing to Download".  No obvious solution has presented itself.
Illaass, none of the previous discussions I see in "more Like This" seem to cover this topic specifically.
Idle speculation:  Based on the behavior I have noticed elsewhere in iOS 6, I am convinced what is happening is if you start the podcast download someplace with a crappy connection, all subsequent attempts to download the same file will hang.  I have seen this in app updates that stalled due a bad connection.  All subsequent attempts to update the app also stall, regardless of the quality of the internet connection.  I have to DELETE the app and reinstall it to get it to work.  Maybe something similar is going on here with the Podcasts app.  Unfortunately, there is no easy way to 'delete' the podcast and then re-download it.

  • I am trying to download podcasts, and I am getting an error message.

I am trying to download podcasts, and I am getting an error message.  I have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing, deleting and redownloading the podcast, and shutting off and turning on my computer an iphone.  I have also tried refreshing the podcast.  I have also tried closing itunes and reopening it.  What gives?  I have an iphone 5s and my MacBookPro and the software is updated on both.  What gives?

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.
If you're still stumped, you may need to reset the password on your Mac:

  • I am regularly getting a message "...cannot be played on this iPad" when trying to download podcasts.

I am regularly getting a message "...cannot be played on this iPad" when trying to download podcasts while using a strong wifi connection.
I accidently deleted an episode that I wanted to save to listen to again and went to redownload it and got the message so the file and/or publisher aren't the issue.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me get my iPad to function correctly!

I am getting the same issue!! I have found it only seems to do it on podcasts with explicit content like idiot abroad or frankie Boyle.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?

  • Itunes crashes when trying to download Podcasts

Just updated to 11.3.1.2, Everytime I press the Refresh button to download the latest Podcast, Itunes keeps on Crashing, I get the "Itunes has Stopped Working" error message and forces me to close it.

uninstalling and reinstalling did NOT work for me.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • Tried to purchase podcast, can't find it!

PLEASE help me! I'm a newbie at this stuff. I have tried three times, to purchase an episode from "this american life", and can't find it anywhere!
    Thanks so much!

I see some discrepancy between the information in the Albums section and the Songs section (all but two of the podcasts in the Songs list say "album only") so there seems to be some sort of error in the iTunes Store. For that problem, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find an "Email Us" button) and explain the issue to them.
    Regards.

  • Unknown Error (-4) when trying to submit podcast RSS feed

I have been having this problem for two days now. I'm trying to submit the RSS feed://www.toikids.com/physicians/peds.xml to the store and I get the following error message every time.
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-4). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.
I get his message when using http:// and feed://. I have validated the feed and have tested it in iTunes and in my browser, so I know its not the feed. I haven't found anything about "unknown error -4" either. Any suggestions?
I'm using iTunes 8.1.1 (10) if that matters.

Seems like Apple is at least aware of the issue. I got this response from Apple Support:
+I'm sorry this error message is persisting. Apparently there is an issue with submitting podcasts today and Apple is working hard to correct it.+
+I recommend waiting until tomorrow to try submitting again and replying to this email by Tuesday if the error happens again.+
+I know this is an inconvenience and for that I sincerely apologize. I appreciate your patience with this, Jeff!+

  • Error when trying to submit podcast RSS feed.

I was just trying to publish my podcast and submit the rss feed to itunes. To do this i simply went to file>submit podcast to itunes. I did this using iWeb, but for some reason every time I do this it gives me an error message. I cant figure out what im doing wrong, I thought iWeb was supposed to make a working RSS feed automatically. Also, after hitting publish to .Mac, I went to .mac and clicked my site, but the site is not at all updated, instead it is the old site. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

If you did a "Publish All to .Mac" and remembered to empty your browser cache, it would seem that you are not connected to .Mac.
This would also explain your failure to upload the RSS feed.
However, I notice that somebody else is having this problem...

  • Trying to Shuffle Podcasts in iPhone

I subscribe to a podcast service and have been able to get the podcasts sync'd to my iPhone. I'm not able to play the podcasts one after the other. I tried putting them in a play list and the shuffle feature doesn't seem to want to work, as it does in the regular music playlist.
Any suggestions if I might be doing something wrong?

    drsailer wrote:
Clicking the shuffle button might not work completely. In the playlist for your podcasts in iTunes, select all the podcasts and then hit (cmd-I) or (ctrl-I on a PC). In the info box that is presented, choose to turn skip when shuffling off. This is turned on for podcasts by default. I haven't tried to shuffle them on my iPhone, but on my 5G iPod, even leaving shuffle on will not shuffle the podcast playlist unless the skip when shuffling tag is reset.
Good info to know. I guess the Podcasts I get (from iTunes that are for local radio stations) don't have it on by default (as mine do shuffle). Perhaps it is something experienced Podcast distributors set and the folks at my local radio station (who I know are computer dumb) may not be setting.

  • Trying to delete podcast from nano (5th) but only seems to have disappeared from iTunes

My daughter set up my nano a few years ago by putting running songs on, which was all I wanted it for then . Am thinking about getting another Apple device so have been teaching myself how iTunes works and also other things about this neglected nano.  I decided to try downloading a podcast through  iTunes, which worked fine, with it showing in the podcast library and then transferred it on to the nano where it appeared correctly in the Podcast menu and played.
I don't actually want that podcast (was just using it to trial the process ) so tried to delete it from the nano.  I thought I had followed instructions gathered from here (the user manual wasn't clear) which said I had to do it via iTunes.
Result: I have managed to delete the  podcast from the library (shows as nothing in there) but it is still on the nano.
Woudl be very  grateful for help on where I go from here!

Further report: I reset the nano, deleted everything and reloaded the music. It worked  - no lingering unwanted  podcast - but surely there must be a proper way to do this ?
