TRYING TO SYNC A SHARED LIBRARY WITH LOCAL ITUNES LIBRARY - PLEASE HELP

Hi. I am so desperate. I have not been able to update my iPod for 6 months and am about to go OS and would love to download all my recent music.
The prob is that all our music is in a Shared iTunes library (called iTunes server, on my husband's computer. We are networked). There is not much in my local iTunes library. I am trying to drag all the music from the Shared iTunes library into my local iTunes library but am having no luck.
Does anyone know how I can make my local iTunes library reflect what's in our shared library? Once I work that out then we can do the same and update my husband's local iTunes library, which is where I update my iPod from (since mine is a work computer and has no USB access). Thanks alot if you can help... DESPERATE

When iTunes Match is is on, you don't sync music or playlists with your computer.

Launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and specify it. If the external drive doesn't contain the iTunes database files, create a new library there and import that music.
If the library contains any rented movies, they won't play on a different computer.

  • When trying to sync or listen to songs in itunes library it says the song on itunes could not be used because the original file could not be found. I am using windows 7.

I have imported cds into my itunes and they appear on my playlist, but when I try to sync to my ipod or listen to them on my computer a message comes up stateing " the songs on itunes could not be used because the original file could not be found".  I have not deleted them and am importing them the way I always have.  This problem has only been for the last 4 or 5 months. Since updating to the last 2 itunes versions.

The message means that iTunes can not find the original imported music files. iTunes should display a red exclamation mark next to the songs it can not find. You will need to look on your hard drive for the songs/files and than correct the file path in iTunes or just delete the files in your iTunes library and import them again.

I know exactly how you feel.
I have been a Mac person for a long time, but resisted the iPod/iTunes way of doing things because I hated that you could not simply drag-n-drop MP3 files to the iPod, like you could do with just about any other MP3 player that plugged into a USB. It seemed to counter-intutiive that Apple would make it something so simple, difficult.
Yeah, so I bought the iPhone 1 when it first came out, and if I wanted to use it for the music capability, I had to adopt "their way", like it or not. Yes, I do understand that all the restrictions are designed to protect the music industry, for which Apple itself derives a major income. Apple wants you to buy music from the iTunes store, and use their hardware/software, which is designed to protect the music from sharing, which degrades their revenue.
Like everyone else, I surrendered to their music business model. It is, what it is.

  • How do I sync an iphone 5 with my itunes library on my pc?

I have just purchased an iphone 5.
I have an account with itunes, my password is correct.
    The phone is not syncing.
The pc says it is but there is nothing in my music library on the phone.
My ipod syncs correctly and I figure now, after trying to find a solution that I will abandon trying to use the phone for listening to music and stick with the ipod.
I suppose thats why apple still makes ipods...

Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download then download and install the current version of iTunes.

  • I am trying to share my HP computer with my iTunes library for iPad and Apprle TV.  I keep getting an error of 3112.  Any suggestions?

I have two apple ids.  One was with hotmail and one is with me.  I started the hotmail account to access iTunes in 2008.  However, recently I purchased an iPad and Apple TV and want to share my library on my PC with the Applice devices.  When I try to give premission to share my library, I receive an error of 3212.  Any suggrestions to help me resolve the error?

The search bar can be very valuable...........
In using it, I found out other's have had this issue and it likely means you have a 3G iPad?  If you do, go into settings and turn off cellular data, then try to update again and you should be OK........

    Niel-
Thanks for the response. Do you have more specified instructions to which you can direct me? This sounds "too easy." I had a problem once before consolidating libraries (when moving the music from my hard drive to an external hard drive on my old computer). I missed one small step and it was a nightmare!
My libraries are already on my external drive, btw. Thanks.

  • I have the iPad 3 and I cannot get it to sync with my iTunes. Please help.

The only way I've gotten it to sync is by restoring it to factory. Any other time it gets stuck on the preparing to sync step and then just quits. No error message or anything. I never had this problem with the iPad 2 so i'm not sure if it is my iTunes or my iPad but I have updated the software on both to no avail.

    Hi MLAbbott,
Since you are having issues with the wireless setup using the WPS feature, try connecting the printer to the network using a USB cable temporarily. We have a great article on our Knowledge Base to guide you through this process.

  • I'm having issues with syncing songs I just purchased from iTunes. Please help me?

I just purchased a few new songs from the iTunes store on my macbook pro, but I can't sync them to my iPod touch because whenever I try to, a box comes up that says I need to authorize my computer, which I've done more than once and it doesn't seem to help. This is really starting to aggravate me. Does anybody know what I should do?

CS3 is too old to run on a new Macintosh laptop, sorry. You'll have to purchase CS6 or a Creative Cloud subscription.

  • Can't sync my  iPhone or iPod to itunes anymore- please help!

These had been working fine, but now when I connect either decive to the USB ports on my computer, I hear the "beep" but itunes does not start up atuomatically and when I open it it does not acknowlege the devices.  I just uploaded the latest iTunes update but it was doing this before and the update did not seem to help.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I just bought my wife an iPad as a birthday surprise and now I'm worried we won't be able to connect it to iTunes.  Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
