Trying to sync photo folder on iPad 2.

Created folder on computer caled iPad Photos and loaded pics in. Renamed all photos from usual DSC 00297 etc. to a1, a2, etc. In folder they are in correct order, but after syncing the iPad photos are not in order. Why does this happen and can I correct issue? Thanks for any help.

Photos will be ordered by capture date in the iPad - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4221 :
If you are using Windows, or are not using iPhoto or Aperture on Mac OS X, you must change the Date Taken of photos to change their sorting on your device. Third-party photo-management software may be able to do this.
As mentioned by Mary, there are third-party apps, but as far as I know they won't update the albums in the Photos app itself, instead they'll get their own copies of the photos and will sort those.

There may be a corrupted video or image file on your iPad.
Try to download from the iPad using Image Capture instead and save the photos to a folder. If that succeeds, you can check the files for corruption before importing them to iPhoto.

Recently I am getting a message when I try to sync photos to my iPad from my PC in iTunes suggesting that photos already on the iPad will be removed if I sync. I don't want to remove existing photos. Any ideas?I

I am trying to copy photos from a recent vacation to my iPad2. The process was straightforward using iTunes until recently. Now I am getting a message warning me that if I sync photos from the folder on my PC to iTunes and my iPad, photos already on the iPad (except ones taken by the iPad) will be removed. I am running iOS 8.0.2 and the most recent iTunes update. I do not want to remove all the other photos from my iPad, so I cancel the sync. I have tried copying the photos using the Apple SD card connector, but it does not recognize my SD card (it does recognize an SDHC card, but I am unable to copy the photos to that card). Is anyone else gettinga message like what I describe above when trying to sync photos to an iPad2 in iTunes?

It is really a very simple fix. Place ALL of the photos that you want to sync to the iPad into one photos folder and sync that folder to the iPad. In your case, place the next set of photos that you want to sync, into the folder with the first set of photos that you already synced to the iPad. You can only sync from one main photos folder and if you choose another folder that does not include the photos that you previously synced, those photos will be erased from the iPad - as you have now discovered.
You can sync one level of sub folders with the main photos folder. You can have as many sub folders as you want (as long as you have the storage space available on the iPad) but you can only sync from one main photos folder. After you place all of the photos into the one main folder, when you go to the Sync Photos From drop down menu in iTunes, select that main photos folder and all of the sub folders that you placed in there will appear and you can select each sub folder to sync as well.

For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS. I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer. iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups. It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me". Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! How did the photos that you want to copy off get on the iPad ? To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you should be able to use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

Error -50 when trying to sync photos

I am having the same problem, but I didn't install Lion yet. I have iTunes 1.4 (80) though, I suspect it started happening after updating to it. (I am still running Snow Leopard because one of the 3rd party audio drivers I need for my work has to be updated for Lion first).
I am syncing to my iPhone 4 to my Aperture 3 library. I haven't had this issue before. It syncs everything else but when iTunes goes from "Analyzing Photos" to "Optimizing Photos" in the sync process it reports that it is unable to sync because of an "unknown error (-50)"
To resolve the problem, I tried the following:
I repaired my Aperture library database (using Option+Command when launching Aperture 3).
I deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder inside my Aperture library. It had to resync all my photos again, this time it worked when re-syncing the entire library, but the next sync it had the same error again.
Updated my iOS to the latest version.
Repaired Disk Permissions on my Mac.
I changed USB cables and ports (using only ports directly on my Mac Pro).
Tried syncing with only iTunes running.
Doing all the above made no difference, I am still getting the error message and it won't sync new photos back to my iPhone 4 now. It is very frustrating.

I have a IPAD generation 1 and i just got my iPAD 2 last week, both ipad are 64 gb. I have a picture collection folder on my macbook pro desktop that is around 45 gb that i need for my work.The problem was that when i tried to sync this folder into my ipad 2, it started eating up a considerable amount of my computer memory space leaving me with around 13 gb left and mysteriously adding more gb to the foldering (it is around 90gb now). I've had my Ipad 1 for a while and it has never been a problem when i sync the same folder, i was also able to store a lot more document folders on my desktop before my ipad 2 came along. im wondering if the IPAD 2 somehow creates backup files of things it syncs within my computer and how i can get back my computer memory space?

Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Restor from backup
- Restoe to factory defaults/new iPod.

This is a problem. Normally you do need to connect to the computer you've synced ith previously to delete albums that were copied from that computer.
In the case where the old computer fails, crashes or is sold or discarded, you need to get all of your stuff off the iPad and onto a new computer. Visit Apple support to learn how to do this. Once you establish a new tunes library on a different computer you can sync and delete the photo albums you no longer want.
Another option is to restore your iPad to its original state. That will delete everything including photos, non default apps, music, videos, etc.
Once reset and erased you can download all purchased apps again.

All I had to do was complain. I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store. I have no idea why.

If you have the iPad connected to the PC and think that you can simply copy the photos to the drive via the iPad without importing them to the computer first, you can't. Import them to the PC them copy them to the device.

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

And of course I forgot about the built in way to send them back to the Mac .... Email them. You can email up to 5 photos at at time.
Launch the photos app, while looking at the photos in thumbnail view - tap the arrow icon in the upper right corner - tap on up to 5 photos at a time - Tap the Share button in the upper left corner - tap email from the resulting window.
