Trying to sync sports team schedule to iphone.

I've used an iCal sports team schedule download for Baltimore Sports Teams which syncs to my iCal calendar but will not sync to iPhone. Why?

Plug in your old phone to your computer. Let it sync if it does that automatically when you plug it in. Then right-click on the icon for your phone in the left-hand column of the iTunes window and choose to BACK UP. It should be happening automatically, but based on your description, it's not.
Once that's done, plug in your new phone and you should be able to restore from the backup you just created.

The iPhone like all iDevices is not a storage device, it is merely a mirror of the content in the library to which it is synced.
If you wish to sync to a new computer, the first step is to copy or move the iTunes media library from the old computer to the new computer. This can be done via the network or by using an external hard drive.
Once the library has been moved, simply sync to the new computer.

You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...
-> Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Then immediately make a backup of your new computer.
Get an external drive and plug it in and use -> Time Machine

Thanks so much Meg. Unfortunately, iTunes is the program I use to perform syncing. I don't really have other outside options. It is also the location of the backup I would use to restore my phone, and my only way to reclaim important data. I am concerned that, since the last backup occurred when the "other" bar was only moderately huge (around 29G I think), that a backup would replicate the problem back onto my phone.
My contacts, etc. are all in address book and the calendar app on my Mac. As far as I know, iTunes is the way to get them back, but iTunes is where the problem is.
Any thoughts on this?

Trying to sync my music to my iPhone music won't sync

I have tried and tried to sync my music to my iPhone. I have selected "sync only selected playlists, artists, and genres" On my phone it states I have 890 songs on iTunes it states I have 764 selected to sync. There are songs on my phone that weren't selected to sync I don't want all my music librarby on my phone just some of it... Why is it not syncing the music I have selected? Why!!! WHY WHY!!!!! So mad!! I have unchecked and removed all music and tried to resync and that didn't work... I have yet to get the latest update as I am scared of all the bugs.... So.... Can someone anyone please help me!!!

How exactly was the music transferred to the new computer?
The correct way is to copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer. If it was transferred properly there are no issues with syncing to the iOS device.

I have an MacBook Pro that I got in 2009 and an iPhone 4s I got like 2 months ago. I'm trying to sync my calender events that I have on my phone to my iCal on my Mac. I have everything switched to "on" for syncing on my iPhone, but when I try check the sync box on my Mac in iCal preferences it just brings me to MobileMe account, askes me to sign in, and then says my password is incorrect when I know its right. But from what I understand MobileMe is gone now and iCloud is the new software. Which I have an account to online and can sync and access to my phone, but I still cannot get the iCal application on my Mac to sync with my phone. Any ideas on what I can do?

If you look at the details of the error message displayed on your computer, iTunes will show you which songs and account(s) have not been authorized on your computer.
Songs from other people's iTunes accounts are usually the culprit. These songs can be added to your iTunes library by file sharing software, or by perhaps by your friends trying to share music with you.
If you don't recognize the iTunes account that purchased the unauthorized songs, you should probably get rid of them or investigate other (probalby not very legal) methods for working around the problem.

Check connections
Try the following steps to check the connection between your device or computer. You might need to do only one of these steps to resolve the issue, so test your connection after each step.
See if the cable connection at the device or computer has come loose or unplugged.
Unplug the cable you're using to connect your iOS device from the USB port on your computer, and then reconnect it. Then unplug it from your iOS device, and reconnect it.
Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead.
Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
Restart your computer.
Restart your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.

At some stage is is likely to have been connected to another computer's iTunes. It is now linked to that computer's library and iPhones can only be associated to one library at a time. Linking to a different one requires wiping the phone.
If you used the phone with another computer you owned you can transfer the iTunes library from that computer to this one and the phone will still be syncing with the same library it was before.
If all there is on the phone are items which can be backed up to iTunes and purchases which can be transferred you could do that, then wipe the phone and sync them back.

Total mess trying to sync iTunes playlists to my iPhone 5

Hi. So I'm trying to get just certain playlists from my Mac to my iPhone 5. But I'd settle for just copying the whole library. When I try the former, I get 87 out of nearly 600 songs from my main playlist, and I get all my wife's country songs that I can't stand. When I try the latter, I get 246 of the 2200 songs in our library.
The Mac is the new problem. Our old macbook pro died and we replaced it with a desktop, concurrent with getting iphones. My old ipod synced without a hitch on the old macbook, but my experience with the iphone and the mac desktop has been beyond frustrating. It's really puzzling to me how the **** it chooses to import songs I don't even have in the playlists checked to be synced.

your phone is in recovery mode, which means your data is already lost. hopefuly you've been keeping regular backups
