Trying to synch iphone

Whenever I try to sync my iphone to my computer I get:
“This computer has previously been synced with an iphone or another iOS device.
( ) Set up as a new iPhone
( ) Restore from the backup of iphone
I don’t want to lose any of my photo, music, etc. that is on my iphone. (which has happened before) What do I do?..

Yeah... Don't sync it. Extract the photos from the camera roll the same as you would from any other camera. Then set up the sync if you want.
The reason it's saying this is because this phone was last synced with a different computer/iTunes library.
The iPhone can only sync media with 1 iTunes library at a time. The reason people most often have problems is that they try to sync it to multiple machines or, even worse, then NEVER sync it after getting the phone activated in the store, then when the try to set it up on their own computer months later, they end up wiping it.

I'm trying to synch my iphone 4 and when I plug it in the iphone icon appears in the top right hand corner. I click to synch and it starts, then the icon disappears and the synch stops.
Does anyone know if this is my charger lead? Because otherwise it charges fine.

Get error message when trying to synch iphone

I'm not sure why I keep getting an error message that says access denied, not authorized privelegdes or something when i try to synch my iphone to our new mac desktop.

Restart your computer and the iPhone. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo. It is safe to do, there should be no content loss. It is the same as rebooting your computer.

When trying to synch iphone 3 G, itunes does not "see" it. Ran diagnostics "no iphone found."

While trying to update to newest Operating system, itunes did not detect an iphone. I ran diagnostics, "no iphone detected." I made sure that itunes was not blocked and that the firewall allowed it through. HELP

Look down at the bottom of your Itunes player and check the total size of your library. If the gigs are more than what your iphone will hold that error message will pop up. My suspicion is it that you have some very large video files and those take up a lot of space. To get more room, delete some of those video files and covert your music files to 128, if larger. Then resync your iphone. Also if you are using .wav files, covert those to mp3 @ 128

If you're using a PowerPC Mac, no.

I tried connecting to iTunes and neither the PC nor iTunes recognizes the device. I went through all the troubleshooting on the Apple website for this issue and nothing worked. I've reinstalled iTunes, the driver, everything and still can't get either the PC or iTunes to recognize the phone. I don't know what else to do :-( any help or suggestions are highly appreciated!
I would hate to have lost all my info, especially contacts and calendar items since I have no idea what was backed up prior to the phone getting locked on this screen. I've been told that my only option is to go to the phone carrier and they will reset it for me, but that means it will wipe out all the info.
I hope someone has a fix other than that one.

You first have to subscribe to iTunes Match through iTunes on your computer and have your music library in iTunes uploaded/matched before you can enable it on your iOS devices (see http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/). Without a computer you won't be able to use iTunes Match.

Thanks snozdop for your help but there is a problem. With deauthorising the instruction says "Also, make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations." I did not / could not deauthorise before upgrading from my broken hard drive. Thus I remain unsure how to proceed.

Error -48 when trying to synch 3rd gen iPod Touch

My daughter keeps getting an Error -48 "iPod cannot be synched at this time" when she tries to synch. This happened right after she downloaded a movie--before that it worked fine. I have an older version Shuffle and it synched with no problems.
When I tried to find the iPod under My Computer and clicked Properties, there is no Tools option.
Any help would be be greatly appreciated.

Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.

ITunes 9.1 no longer synching iPhone Contacts to Mac Address Book

Since installing iTunes 9.1 (79) today. my iPhone will no longer synch to the Mac Address Book. iPhone software 3.1.3, Mac OS 10.6.3 MacBook Pro 3.1. The only thing I can think of is that my iTunes library is on an external drive (not with me). Everything else seems to be working OK. I tried resetting the iPhone (but did not erase content) to no avail.
Any ideas why this is happening and what to do?

Can anyone help with this? This has been an issue for me for weeks. Changes to contacts on my iPhone (the original one) don't show up in Address Book and changes in Address Book on my iMac don't sync with my iPhone contacts. Both seemed to be separate from each other. Prior to this, it has done so flawlessly since I have owed it.
I just tried the following, from this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=476130):
*1. open address book, go to File > Export > Address Book Archive, save to desktop*
*2. delete all contact info (including groups) from address book, quit address book*
*3. select "sync address book contacts" (all contacts) in itunes info tab (highlight your iphone on the left of the window)*
*4. under "advanced" at the bottom, select contacts under "replace information on this iphone / ipod".*
*5. sync.*
*6. uncheck #'s 3 & 4 above*
*7. back in address book, import your address book archive file to restore your address book.*
*that should do it- sorry if this was unclear, need to hit the hay.*
My Address Book imported back in fine. Now my iPhone contacts are empty and won't sync back with what is on the computer. When I click on my iPhone in iTunes and go to Info to click "Sync Address Book Contacts," there is nothing in the box. Prior to attempting the above fix, the iPhone's contacts showed up in that box, but not the most recent version of Address Book on my computer.
I have not lost my Address Book contacts, they are backed up, but I just want to be able to sync it all with my iPhone again. My iPhone contacts are currently empty and I could use them for work today.
Any ideas would be much appreciated -- thanks!
