Trying to texture my UV map

Hi,
I'm trying to texture my UV map (Maya 2011) but after I'm done painting and I save and use my image as a texture it only shows up in maya as a wire frame. The colors I have been using are in the wire frame so its kind of like im only painting over the wire of my UV map. I'm not sure if this is a maya issue or a photoshop issue that I'm not doing this correctly in but I get the feeling its photoshop as I completely started over on my maya project and got the same results. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you opening a 3D file in Photoshop, or just the texture map image?
If it is just the image - then the problem has to be with Maya, because Photoshop just edits and saves the image.
If it is a 3D file, then lots of details could cause issues (and I'm sure Daniel will be along shortly to ask about those).

Ask and ye shall receive. This should be doable in Windows 7 and Windows 8 on another PC. I recommend using a USB Flash drive like in this tutorial, but I'm sure you could use something else.
If you want, you could also use Hiren's BootCD to make a bootable CD with many options and programs on it (I keep one, just for certain situations) that will allow you to do the same things.

Trying to upgrade N95 from Maps v2.0 to Maps v3.0

I have an N95 with device software v31.0.017 and I the latest update to the Nokia PC Suite v7.1.30.9. I have downloaded Setup_Nokia_Maps_Updater_1.0.8.exe and installed it on my PC. When I run the program it cannot find the N95 connected via USB. PC Suite however shows that it is connected and it can be synced etc.. The download maps application in the suite was updated yesterday but now no longer works with my v2.0 maps software on the N95.Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong :-) I have been back over everything several times and I can't see it. Deleting the cities folder and the qf file made no difference. I am trying to update the application - not install it from new. This should be a simple process you would think but it seems to be defeating others as well as me. The question is this: if the other applications can see that the N95 is connected via USB why then can this updater program not see it? I cannot see that the existance of v2.0 map data can be relevant. Can anybody who knows this particular piece of software give me any clues or point me to an updated version?

HT2693 How come my apple map doesn't show the map on apple standard map.. However, it does work on google map. I was trying to close the apple maps, restart, and many other ways but still didn't work. Please help me.

A standard map on my iPhone 4s is suddenly not working. It shows the blue dot but it doesn't show the actual Map where I can see the streets.
I don't know how to fix this problem. I did try so many ways even restarted iPhone but still not working... Please help me out.

Yes I worked previously but it's now not working. I did double click home botton and terminate the maps many time but still not working.
The standard maps just not show any route only the blue dot (my location.) I really don't know what to do. Btw, I used to live in SF but now I'm traveling to Thailand. One of my friend is using iPhone 4S as well but his maps is working. So I guess it is about its application on my phone...

Warning when trying to launch application over mapped drive "We can't verify who created this file. Are you sure you want to run this file?"

We have 2 load balanced application servers that map drives with programs on them for users from a central server that are giving the warning "We can't verify who created this file. Are you sure you want to run this file?". Basically how it works
is a user logs in to one or the other application servers (for example, 10.0.0.1 or 10.0.0.2) and runs a log on script that maps an L:\ drive to the users folder on the central storage server (10.0.0.100). When the user goes to launch the .exe from the L:\
drive it presents that warning.
I've looked around and have seen recommendations that you need to add the site to the local intranet zone for IE, but when I try to add L:\ it tells me that I have entered an invalid sequence. It appears that you can only put network shares in that location,
which is not how we're mapping the drive.
Has anyone run in to this before and knows how to resolve it?

A mapped drive letter is not supported so please try to input \\server or \\server\folder to see if it will help.

Error when trying to deploy a valid mapping

Dear all
I have created a simple mapping in OWB 10g 10.2 having a table as source and a flat file as a target. When I perform validation on the mapping, I get a message that is validated successfully.
However, when I try to deploy it in order to debug, I get an error message that says the mapping is invalid, although I have checked it already.
Could you please suggest me what I could do?

Hi,
you may use the repository assistant to add an existing db user as target user to your repository (owned by the control center). Using design center, create a location (in your design repository) pointing to that user. Use this location for your target module.
The different architectures are explained in the document "OWB Installation and Configuration Guide for Microsoft Windows and UNIX.pdf", chapter 2 "Installing an Oracle Warehouse Builder Repository".
Of course you can do all this by using only OMBPlus. But using the GUI is somehow more straight forward.

Trying to create a heat map

I require the table cells to appear as colors based on if the value is null or not null
When the user mouse overs the cell they should see some values.
I have tried every option I could google and either I get the colors or the mouseover but not both.
If someone could point me to a good example or walk through for this it would be great.

Problem trying to crop a large map?

Heres my problem I cant figure out. I'm working on a large state map (25 inches x 35 inches) but only wish to show a city and its main roads. I dont want to show 95% of the rest of the map. Problem is how (or can?) you crop the unused map? When I saved it as a jpeg and opened in PhotoShop to crop it appears fuzzy after I crop.
Any tips or suggestions?

Incredible as it sounds, Illustrator cannot properly crop its own artwork. It has never provided a decent cutting tool. So everything for this common task becomes a ridiculously convoluted workaround.
You don't state what you intend to do with the cropped map after cropping it. Will you be printing it directly from Illustrator, or do you intend to use it as a spot graphic in a page layout program (InDesign, etc.)? Is this destined for commercial printing?
Assuming the answer to both those questions is yes, the closest thing Illustrator provides to what any decent drawing program can do in mere seconds (actually, properly trim vector artwork) is the Eraser tool.
1. Open a copy of the large map file.
2. Set four ruler guides to indicate the four edges of the desired crop.
3. Zoom out.
4. Eraser Tool: Outboard of the upper left bounds of the artwork, press and hold Alt. Drag the Eraser. This causes the Eraser to act in rectangular marquee mode. Drag until the marquee aligns with the left guide. You have to eyeball this because, in typical sloppy Adobe fashion, the Eraser tool fails to abide by snaps.
5. Similarly erase the artwork outboard of the other three sides.
6. Save as PDF for placement in InDesign as a vector spot graphic.
Be sure to check the result carefully after using this workaround. The sub-standard Eraser tool often alters the shapes of the remaining portions of open paths that it cuts.
The reason for having to resort to the half-baked Eraser tool is: There is no option to enable Illustrator's pathetic Scissor tool to simply make a straight cut across multiple objects at once. Illustrator's absurdly debilitated Knife tool can make a straight cut across multiple objects at once, but it cannot properly handle open, unfilled paths, of which maps have many (!). No Pathfinders work for proper crops of vector artwork, because they all also wreck open path strokes.
Thus, Illustrator's patently absurd three cutting tools fail to do what users of any decent vector drawing programs have always taken for granted from one properly done cutting tool. This is why whenever this common question arises, the answers in this forum always resort to some ridiculous method of merely masking the map (Artboards, Clipping Masks, tile printing , etc., etc.) or rasterization (egads! this is supposed to be a vector drawing program), not actually cropping it. I consider this a gross conceptual disservice to other users, especially beginners. "Cropping" does not mean "masking."

'Operation could not be completed' when trying to load a displacement map

Im running PS CS6 13 x64 on a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2. I want to load a displacement map but when I'm in the Displace dialogue box and I click OK I get 'Operation could not be completed' Any ideas? it's pretty urgent and have been on hold on the Adobe helpline for 30 minutes so far!!!!

Anything particular about the files (Color Mode, size, …)?

OP, sounds like a browser issue (which is documented in the readme's/install guides/...)
First ensure FDM URL you are visiting is setup as trusted.
Second set these settings:
Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted Sites / Custom Level
Use Pop-Up Blocker: Off
Downloads / Automatic Prompting: Enable
Downloads / File Download: Enable
Allow Script initiated windows without ... : Enable

3d modeling and texturing in Photoshop CS3 Extended

I spent longer than I care to admit today trying to figure out how to get a model into Photoshop and texture it. I couldn't find any native tools for modeling or texturing, which led me to do these things in external tools, relying on Photoshop for compositing and rendering. Hopefully future versions of Photoshop will make this easier.
I first tried Google Sketchup, but was having trouble figuring out how to texture and UV map the model, so I turned to Discreet's GMax. A few years back, Discreet released a free version of 3D Studio MAX without the rendering or exporting features, targeted at game developers. GMax's interface is just like 3D Studio MAX, so if you have any experience there, you're golden.
The trick is getting the file out of GMax and into Photoshop without ruining the textures. To do this, I used Baltram's ASE Exporter, which is a script that traces the geometry of your model into the MAXScript console. You can then copy/paste this into a text file, with an ASE extension, or use GMaxSLGrab to do it for you. Finally, I used Biturn to convert from ASE to 3DS, and imported into Photoshop using File>Open.

Texture Overlay Issues

In the image attached I'm making a map of the United States. Each state is its own shape.
To each shape I've added a radial gradient.
I would like to add that cardboard texture to the whole map, or even each individual state keeping it within the borders.
In the image right now I've put the image of the cardboard on a layer and set it to overlay, but that only gives me the results in the photo.
Anyway if that's clear and you know what I'm talking about I'd appreciate any help.

I also tried to add a texture to each state using the transparency mask, but once I apply it everything except the texture seems to lock and is not selectable.
Perhaps you could just walk me through how you would add a texture to the map or to one of the individual states/shapes?

XSLT Mapping on ABAP Engine

Hi All,
I am trying to implement an XSLT mapping on the ABAP Engine. I went to the Transformation Workbench(SE80).I have created 4 levels of packages (Structure->Main->then 2 more levels) and included Package Interface SAI_TOOLS in 'Use Accesses' tab.
I have also set com.sap.aii.repository.mapping.additionaltypes=R3_ABAP|Abap-class;R3_XSLT|XSL (ABAP Engine)
in the Exchange Profile.
Now I want to create the tranformation (ST or XSLT) so that I can see it in the Repository.
At which package level(1st to 4th), should I right-click and go to 'Create->More->Transformations' so that I can see this XSLT Mapping program in the repository?
I have followed all the links from help.sap.com but I am unable to get the desired result, i.e. see my Mapping in the Repository when I choose Mapping Program of type 'XSL->ABAP Engine', from the drop-down box in Interface Mapping.

I did as you told, i.e. keyed in the name of the ABAP Transformation program (mapping) name.I have not written any namespace for the Mapping program in the Interface Mapping Design, just the Program name.
When I execute my mapping from se80, it works perfectly.
I created this Transformation program at the topmost level (i.e. Structure package level).
But when I execute my scenario, I get the following runtime error in sxmb_moni:
Error in mapping program zpc_transfom2 (type R3_XSLT, kernel error ID UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION).
What is wrong? Did I create the transformation program at the wrong level?

XSLT mapping with Java helper classes

I'm trying to implement a XSLT mapping to convert my request to a specific soap request message format for this I'm calling some methods from a java helper class. I have imported the jar file into the archives. When I tried to test the interface it keeps complaing there is some exception but doesn't give me the exact error. Has any one called any java helper classes with in XSLT mapping, if so I would appreciate if you could help me with this. Here is the code from xsl.
