Trying to transfer music and vids(30g)ipod to new computer? Somebody help
just recently got new computer, I have a 30g ipod,I'm trying to transfer songs from Ipod to new computer without erasing anything. Have about 1900 songs, half is from Itunes and the other half is from CD'S. Very fearful of erasing everything, someone help me out me.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

For all non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.

Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -

There is no way to transfer ipod-to-ipod. Look for a 3rd party program, such as Yamipod, that will let you pull the music from your old iPod to your computer.
You really should be backing up your data on your computer. -

I have a new computer and I want to make it my home device for I tunes. I have home sharing, and all of the music and files are on the new computer. Now what do I do to make the new computer the home computer for Itunes?
The computer (windows platform) where I initially began using Itunes has four other computers/devices that are shared with it. All four of the other computers show up in my account, and can be managed. Or I can remove them. But on the new computer that I want to be my base computer (home if you will). The computer I want it to replace, when ITunes is open, has a tool bar, with various functions. All of the other devices are linked to that computer in ITunes, under Home SHaring. The new computer, shows the downloads via Home Sharing, but it does not show/have any tool bar.
I want to activate the new computer to be the computer via ITunes where all of the devices are linked to it as the base for ITunes. And, I don't know how to make that happen.

I have a new computer with windows 8 and i installed new version of itunes. I transferred all of my music from old computer using jump drive. When I connect my ipod to new computer, I can't transfer purchases, sync, get my playlists from ipod onto computer and can't get my pictures from ipod to computer. My computer is authorized. I don't know what else to do.

Transfering music from an old ipod to new computer
I have the guide that was provided on the site on how to transfer music from an older iPod that contains the high capacity drive. My only problem is that I dont have the old computer that is synced to this ipod.
basically I found this old ipod of mine from 4 years ago and it has a bunch of my old music on it. My old computer crashed and will no longer turn on so we got rid of it and bought a new one. My wife and I since then have both bought the new iphones and have created a whole new itunes libary. I figured all of these old songs were lost until last night when i found this ipod with all the music still on it. I want to put it on my new computer but when I plug it in and open itunes it say's it will erase my old songs and replace with my new ones.

Old computer crashed and cannot sync ipod to new computer?
My old computer crashed and now i got a new computer. I can download songs from itunes with my appleID but they wont sync to my ipod?! I tried following the troubleshoot for authorizing a new computer and it says it is now authorized. I also use to use home sharing for my and my mom's computers. I deauthorized all computers and then tried re authourizing this one but still no luck. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Im leaving for vacation Friday and would love to have all the songs I just purchased go onto my ipod! Thanks for any help!

I would try restoring the iPod and then sync again. A thing to look for is to change settings for syncing music. For example change to manually manage music and drag the music to the iPod.

I have switched to a new iPad and transferred all the needed aps, included some high-priced ones for my business. The only thing I can't do is get my music and music videos to move. I originally tried to backup the old unit and restore to the new unit and this was successful for a lot of the aps, it didn't work for the music. It also messed up several aps that I had already initialized on the new unit and I had to go through the whole process again. How can I move my music without damaging other aps?
Thanks for any help.The contents of the Music and Videos apps aren't included in a device's backup. If you don't have them on your computer's iTunes library then if they are iTunes purchases then you should be able to copy them back from your old iPad via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to your new iPad.
