Trying to transfer purchases after upgrading to Win8

I upgraded to Windows 8 on Friday and wiped my whole computer to start over fresh. Now since Apple likes to make it hard after you format your computer I'm having problems with syncing my iPad, and I assume my iPhone will be the same mess too. I'm trying to transfer all my apps that are on my iPad so I don't have to download each and every one individually from the store. The thing is when I go to transfer purchases my moms account pops up saying I need to enter a password. I've never used her account to purchase one app, ever. Years ago when I bought the first iPod classic I used her account to purchase probably 2 songs and that's all I've ever purchased from her account. I dont' even have music on my iPad.
So is there any way I can get my apps back? I don't know the password to that account and she doesn't even use it anymore and doesn't know it either. The forget password thing doesn't help either. Getting the password is a lost cause I'm starting to think.

Since I am not having that problem, I'm not sure it will work.
But one thing you can do is open itunes with a completely blank library. See if those purchases will transfer into a blank library. Article on making a new library:

Make sure you only press the transfer purchases or things will go VERY wrong. But I think you know that.

DO NOT PRESS ERASE AND SYNC.
Also - was that 3rd party program free, or something you paid for? The free ones I've tried have had some problems. If you paid for it, I would ask for support on getting those 100 lost tracks.
Just curious, which 3rd-party ipod manager was it?

You definitely need to resurrect the old password associated with the Apple ID you used to purchase the music.
    Go here: https://iforgot.apple.com
An email will be sent to the email address associated with that account with instructions regarding resetting that Apple ID's password.
If you no longer have access to that email, the resolution to this problem becomes considerably more difficult. In that event you would need to contact iTunes Support and explain your dilemma.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only transfer purchases to a primary (syncing) library, have you set your library up correctly.

I've started getting an error when trying to transfer purchased videos to my iPhone.
I get an error saying that selected videos will not play on the iPhone. They were purchased from iTunes and have been played on the phone previously.
So far I've only noticed it on SD/HD videos, but not all SD/HD videos. Not had an issue yet with the judt SD files.
    Anyone else encountered this?

Hope you are having a lovely afternoon today! I'm about ready to go bobo....I have an early meeting, and I don't want to oversleep! The nice part is that I work remotely, so I only have to wake up 15 minutes or so before the meeting.... I don't even use an alarm clock anymore (really, my iPhone alarm, which is much more pleasant), unless I have to get up at 6:30 or something....

Awesome. I had a feeling it could still be there. I'm very happy for you!
Two things you can do now:
1.) Add all of these files into iTunes by using "Add to Library" and selecting the iTunes Media folder. This is the easiest method, but you lose your original iTunes settings, playlists, play counts, ratings, etc.
2.) A slightly more advanced method however will let you salvage your iTunes library and restore it the way it was before. Use finder to look at Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries. In that folder, check to see if there is one dated near today's date (or when the reset happened to you). If there is a very recent one, you can restore to that date. What you'll want to do is take that file, and MOVE it back up one level to the iTunes folder.
Currently in your iTunes folder is a file named iTunes Library (this is the active, and blank one) and now you should have the dated one as well. You can DELETE the iTunes Library one, and rename the dated one "iTunes Library".
Then hold OPTION while loading iTunes, and when asked to choose a library, select Choose Library, and navigate to Music/iTunes, and pick the "iTunes Library" file you just moved and renamed.
If all goes well, your songs, playlists, ratings, and etc. should all be back to the way it was. Just do "Add to Library" and select the iTunes Media folder to make sure nothing was excluded between the backup and your copy before it reset.
    Hope this helps!

  • TS2529 Hi.  I'm trying to transfer purchases to update my iphone but the suggested options are either greyed out or don't exist.  How do I transfer purchases?

Hi.  I'm trying to transfer purchases to update my iphone but the suggested options are either greyed out or don't exist.  How do I transfer purchases?

Just to clarify -  When I follow the instructions to "transfer purchases from iphone to computer" prior to updating my iphone the options suggested are greyed out. The Transfer Purchases option under Devices in the File menu is greyed out. Can anyone explain why its greyed out and how I can make the option available?

    Thanks.

If you are using iTunes, you cant transfer purchases in the iPod to the Mac, you need 3rd Party Software.

  • Trying to transfer purchases from iPod crashes iTunes

My laptop was recently stolen along with my backup, so my iPod (Classic, 120 GB) is the only copy of my digital music. I'm trying to transfer my iTunes purchases from the iPod to the new computer's hard drive, but it crashes iTunes every time I try to do this.
I transferred most of my music (around 8900/9000 tracks) using a 3rd party program, since most of my music was burned from CDs, and that managed to get most of my iTunes store purchases as well. However, the last 100 songs include several iTunes tracks. They won't transfer with either iTunes, Music Rescue, or MediaWidget.
Anyone have any suggestions for a way of transferring my remaining files (especially the iTunes ones)?

Since I am not having that problem, I'm not sure it will work.

  • ITunes freezing while trying to transfer purchases

I just bought a new computer, and I'm trying to transfer my purchases to itunes, but it keeps freezing, and not only that, it tries to authorize the computer. I first auth'd it when I downloaded itunes and signed in. It also keeps bringing up my step mothers login, and shes thousands of miles away, and I've never logged into her computer before with my ipod, and its not authorized. I'm going crazy here, and itunes support isnt really a big help for this issue. anyone have any ideas on how I can transfer my purcahses?

  • Anyone tried the "Transfer Purchases From iPod" function

    Hi all,
If you've tried this, when you view your library on iTunes on your computer, how is the music that transfers from the iPod into iTunes differentiated from the stuff that is already in your iTunes library?
    Thanks

I have used it and it is great, except that I can only get it to transfer purchases to my 2nd computer. 99.5% of my itunes content is not purchased from itunes. iTunes supports ripping CD and using your own music, so I am not sure why the other music is not coppied. I do understand and agree that the second computer must be authorized with the same account. This prevents piracy.
All I know know is that when you plug your iPod into the second computer, a pop up box asks if you would like to transfer your purchases. They are now on the 2nd computer and you do not need to leave the iPod plugged up. I do not know if play count is synced between computers, or if we will be able to use this feature with actual music that we want to listen to between computers and iPod.

I encountered an error with my harddrive after upgrading my Lenovo G500 from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. The error is coming up under the Lenovo Solution Center. I got an error when i tried disk repair ("the underlying task reported failure on exit - 1 HFS volume could not be repaired, 1 volume could not be repaired"). Is that the source of my problem?
    Hi and a warm welcome!
    Absolutely, good deduction.
If DU can't fix it after a couple more tries then, your best bets are DiskWarrior from Alsoft...
    http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/
    Data Rescue II...
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
This last one would require another HD with plenty of space to recover to.
Unfortunately, Disk Utility can't fix all that much, and the only other Apple Options are erasing the HD, or installing OSX to a second drive, then using Migration Assistant to move stuff over to the new HD.

  • Thinkpad Twist 3347CTO Loss of Bluetooth after upgrade to Win8.1

After upgrading to windows 8.1, Bluetooth drops shortly after making connection. Have seen reference of needing to reload Bluetooth driver. I see Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol DI) #2; location on Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 + High Speed Adapter. Currently running Microsoft drvr: v6.3.9600.16384 (winblue_rfm.130821-1623). Do I need to reload the driver for this? What is the file name? where do I locate the file?

    Hello,
If reinstalling the driver didn't resolve the issue, I would suggest contacting Lenovo support directly by telephone and asking them for further assistance.

  • Trying to transfer purchases from my 3gs onto a new PC (Vista).  Keep getting the message "Waiting for changes to be applied".  HELP!

Using the latest version of iTunes and iOS5 on my iPhone.  Backup of the iphone seems to work fine.  My old PC died and I want to transfer my apps to my new PC.  But when I start Transfer purchases from my iPhone, it just keeps giving the message "Waiting for changes to be applied" and doesn't do anything.  I'm getting worried as I have an iPhone 4s coming and I want to move my 3gs stuff over to my new phone.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back when I switched computers and migrated.  Here's what worked on my iMac, so maybe it'll work on your iPad, too.  Go to User(your home folder)/Music.  Select/highlight your "Music" folder.  Then do Command-I ("Get Info" from the File menu), click on the padlock icon in the lower right of the new window.  Enter your user password.  Click on your username just above the now-open padlock.  Select "Read & Write" if it's on "Read Only," "Write Only," or "No Access."  Now having your user account with "Read & Write" privileges (it may have been this way already; still do this next step), click on the gear on the bottom-center of that window.  Click on "Apply to all enclosed items."  When the pop-up says "Are you sure?" (or the equivalent), say "yes."  This will grant access privileges to your user account for all the music files inside your music folder--all your iTunes stuff included).  Then you should be good to go.
