Trying to turn on genius

So I got a new laptop a few months ago to Windows 7 and ever since I have been trying to update the software and am not able to turn on genius. On my last laptop I had windows xp and had no problems. But now with windows 7, everytime I try to begin to turn on genius, a dialogue pops up and says that 'itunes has stopped working.' any one have any suggestions??

Try closing all other apps and doing it again. You also might try installing itunes again.

well I just changed my pc. And everytime I try to turn on genius iTunes crashes. Already tried reinstalling and no luck. Do someone knows how to fix this? (iTunes 11.1.2.31 Windows 8)

If you are running iTunes 11 on Windows 8 and iTunes crashes when you go to the iTunes store, you just need to copy a dll file:
Dopying the QTMovieWin.dll from c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\ INTO c:\program files (x86)/iTunes

TS1702 an unknown error has occurred when trying to update PicStitch and turn on Genius for Apps on iPad

When trying to update iPad I keep getting a message "an unknown error has occurred. Also get this message when I tried to turn on Genius for Apps. And App Store is asking me for my password 3 - 4 times in a row and I am typing it correctly! This is also happening on my iPhone 3GS!

Were you able to find a solution to this issue? I am also getting the 'an error has occurred' message when trying to download or update any apps on my iPhone. Restarted, updated, re-booted, etc etc, nothing has worked.

ITunes 9 crashes trying to sign in to store to turn on genius

I recently turned off Genius with the intention of turning on again in order to 'kickstart' the Genius Mix playlists.
When I attempt to turn Genius back on now, it takes me to a sign in page where I enter my Apple ID and password. I click 'continue' and the status says accessing itunes store and then crashes.
I guess the answer will be to unistall and reinstall iTunes 9... unless anyone out there has a suggestion.

nope. unistalled and reinstalled. iTunes still exits (windows error message: iTunes has encountered problems and needs to close) after clicking continue.
can someone please respond?
is this tied in to all the other iTunes 9 crashing? has anyone figured out a way to stop it?

To solve a different problem, the folks at the store replaced my iPhone 4S.
I came home and loaded my backup onto the new phone. Everything EXCEPT iMessage seems to be working great.
I would really appreciate any feedback...

HT1414 I had my ipod touch off and when I tried to turn it off the best I could get was the apple logo than that went out. I can't get it come on at all. It was working fine earlier and nothing has happen to it.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

How can I turn off genius in iTunes 10.5.3 (3)

How can I turn off Genius in iTunes 10.5.3 under Lion 10.7.3 (other than disconnecting from the internet). It is no longer an option in the Store menu and although I can hide that playlist on the left through parental controls, the atom symbol is still present in the lower right of the window available to generate a list from a selected song. Try resetting your phone, hold the home and sleep/wake button down until the apple symbol comes up, then release. If that doesnt work, you may have damaged your phone and need to take it to an apple genius bar.

then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.
If you are getting a prompt to review your account when trying to use it then you could see if this post by mountaingoatgirl lets you do so without needing to enter credit card details : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24303054#24303054
If not then you will need to create a new account, and use the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it. If you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your iPad, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com

Cant turn on genius

i have installed itunes 10.4.0.80 on windows vista everything works except genius it says i have a bad connection or store is busy - this is lies my internet connection is fine - i have run diagnostics they say everything is fine i have reset my innternet connection and its deffinatly working. i can acsess the store and ping (in which i have no interest) so they cant be that busy - i have left it 5 hours and tried again to no avail - i am beginning to suspect that it is not my own stupidity that has caused this (it usually is but not today i dont think) .
so basiclly in summary is it me or apple?
oh i have an i phone if that is relevent and i did authorise the computer and sign into my itunes account ect

I have the same problem - just installed iTunes last night, and I have the same version. I can get into the store with no problem. When I click on the "Turn On Genius" button, a little window pops up and this is exactly what it says:
Could not complete the iTunes Store request. The store may be busy.
Check your Internet connection or try again later.
I'll check again tonight, but I hope someone else sees this message.

Error in Turning on Genius

I have been using iTunes on my Macbook for the last 1.5 years.
Every time I try to turn on Genius, I get the following error message:
"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later."
Initially I thought that there could be a technical difficulty, but the error message is consistent.
Please help me resolve this.

right after genius finishes the first step (gathering information) and starts sending my information to apple the following error messageshows up;
genius cant be updated... an unknown error has occured.

-wait and try again (for 4 months now)
-deleting cookies
-deleting plist files
-deleting genius file
-apple "geniuses" at the genius bar in zurich didnt know what to do.
-apple europe support has never heard of this error..
i created a new library and there it works fine. so it cant be my network or something. the error must be somewhere in my music or my library file.
anyone?
btw: i have 55k songs. all covered, rated and many intelligent playlists.
so deleting and re-adding the music (loosing library information) is not an option.

New Apple TV- get error -3150 when trying to turn on home sharing

I bought an ATV2-can't get home sharing on, won't accept Apple ID, can't make anything work. Rebooted Airport extreme, two computers, no help....spent two hours on two different occassions yesterday at Genius Bar where ATV2 worked perfectly. Get error message 3150 when password is not accepted.

Me neither... But my home haring did just come back after signing in and out of iTunes and trying to turn on home sharing....judging by the popularity of this issue right now and the older posts on the subject, it would seem that it's some kind of glitch with the apple servers.
