Trying to uninstall Final Cut Studio - files reappearing?

I am trying to uninstall Final Cut Studio, I have tried using FCS Remover and I have tried manually deleting the files (and emptying the trash) but after a restart the files are all reappearing? How in the world is this happening?

  • Anyone know how to uninstall Final Cut Studio?

I've attempted 3 installs and at the very end it says there were errors (of course, it doesn't say what errors), and to try again. Well, after 20+ hrs. into this I think it's time to start with a clean slate. But I can't find anything online on how to uninstall Final Cut Studio. I found several links to some mysterious document 93150, but apple's site doesn't have it anymore. Yeah, my luck.
If anyone could help me on this, you're sure to get lots of good karma this weekend, maybe even into the week.
    thanks,
    -w

Yeah, the Knowledge Base documents to uninstall FCP 4 or higher no longer exist. (only the doc for FCP 3 exists) That being said, the Troubleshooting Basics for Final Cut Pro 5 document does detail how to trash receipts and reinstall. Haven't needed to try it myself (knocking on wood) but I take it you've have and it still hasn't worked out for you?
What, exactly, is prompting all of these installs?

  • I am trying to install final cut studio on my computer. I get to where it asks me to insert audio disc 2 and it fails.

I am trying to install final cut studio on my computer. I get to where it asks me to insert audio disc 2 and it fails. How do I continue to install?

What I've done to get around the problem of quircky DVD readers is to create a disk image of each of the installation discs and store them on an external firewire drive. When I need to install/reinstall, I open the images and put them all on my desktop then launch the installer from disk 1. Since all the disks are available, the installation happens without any intervention from me and is done within 30-45 minutes. (your time may vary depending upon computer variables)

  • Trying to install final cut studio and not recognizing serial number

I am upgrading from final cut pro 5.1.4 with final cut studio 2. When I enter the studio 2
serial number it asks me for my original serial number from 5.1.4 and it tells me it's not
a valid serial number. I have checked over and over with my manual and the serial number
on the software in the computer and it still says the same thing.
    Please help me thank you.

Well we are not together anymore but he was my boyfriend at that time. He was trying to do something really nice without realizing many things about purchasing something like this.
Actually, I have 2 serial numbers one for DVD Studio Pro 3 academic and one for final cut pro HD Academic Su. Is that what I am looking for ?

  • Trying to install Final Cut Studio/Pro that was on my old Mac Pro.  Have old disks and upgrade but need to know the install sequence.

My old Mac drive died and bought a Air.  Trying to install Final Cut but bumping into error on trying to install Studio.  I have an upgrade to Pro but I have been told that I need to install Studio first.  I have all the original disks.

Final Cut Studio 2 has a "bug" in the installer program that results in the "PowerPC" dialog box.
There are two alternative methods to install into Mavericks:
    Use Pacifist:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Use Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method:
    http://www.jeremyjohnstone.com/blog/2012-03-11-installing-final-cut-pro-studio-2 -0-on-mac-os-x-10-7-lion.html
Be sure to follow the August 2012 comment for the remaining FCS2 disks for this second method.

  • Uninstall Final Cut Studio Pro 2 (buggy)

Really Frustrated with FCPS2, can any tell me how to remove Studio from my system. I need to go back to 5, but need to clean out the buggy Final Cut Pro Studio 2

You can do a "clean" install of your OS, or you can:
    http://proapptips.com/tips/article.php?story=20060927223215377&query=reinstall
the clean install is the most hotly debated topic right now, other than the utility of "Content Creation with Final Cut Studio" forum. you decide. good luck.

  • Uninstall Final Cut Studio

Ok this may have been addressed but I could not seem to find any info. I am looking to update to Final Cut Studio 2. I want to buy the full version. However I have Final Cut Studio installed how can I unstall it and then install the new version without any issues. Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the discussions!
    Apple agrees with you: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305389
The procedure is to trash the applications, and their respective folders in Library>Application Support.

  • Trying to install final cut studio 2 but disk unrecognisable

    Hey,
I've recently had problems with compressor so I thought I would do a clean erase and install to reinstall compressor. Lo and behold I go to put my disk into my macbook's superdrive and installer refuses to kick in. It keeps seeing the disk as a blank disk and treats it as such. Would anyone know why this is so?
The disk doesnt have any scratches on it and is usually kept in its sleeve in the final cut studio box that shipped with it.

One possilbility is your optical drive. Try some other install disks from other software to see whether anyread issues surface. (I recently had to replace my drive that was displaying similar symptoms.) If you have a cleaning disk, you could also try that.
    Good luck.

  • Uninstalling Final Cut Studio 1 Extras

I am on a 1st-gen MacBook Pro with a 100 GB hard drive that filled up quite quickly. I am looking to remove some unnecessary features so as to clear up as much space as possible.
I'm running Final Cut Studio 1 (Academic Version) and remember that when I first installed it, I installed a ton of optional material (tutorials/templates, etc.) for the programs included with Final Cut Studio. What is the best way to go about removing this extra junk off my hard drive? I think it will clear up a lot of space.
    Thanks!

Go to the Library>Application Support>Final Cut Studio folder. Inside you will find the additional content for FCS; Soundtrack Pro loops, Motion & DVDSP content, etc.

  • Trying to install Final Cut Studio on my Lion Notebook

    Hey guys,
I bought a MacBook Pro with Lion on it but I can't seem to install Final Cut Studio 2 without Rosetta.  I have the Final Cut Studio 3 upgrade discs which are universal but I cant install FCS3 without first installing FCS2.  Anyone have any ideas?

    > Will I run into any issues if I install Final Cut Studio 3 to run in conjunction with Final Cut X?<
That's been a running topic and I've found the posted discussions to be mutually exclusive. Maybe it depends on the hardware platform. Dunno. Might search the FCPX forum too.
Please post back if you figure it out with your own experiences.

  • How can I UNINSTALL Final Cut STUDIO?

I do not want it anymore! How can I Uninstalled??????????????
    Thank you!

    1) In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G)
    2) Enter the location /Library/Receipts/FinalCurPro.pkg/Contents
    3) Click Go to open the Contents folder
    4) Launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
    5) Enter the command lsbom -s (that's a lower case L, not an upper case i)
lsbom lists each of the files inside the bill of materials. To list only the folders, the command would be lsbom -d.
    6) Type a space, then drag the Archive.bom file from the Finder window to the Terminal window.
    7) Press Return to view the list
    8) Drag to select the list in the Terminal window and choose File > Copy (Command-C)
    9) Open a text editor and paste the list into it. Print if you have a printer attached.
    10) Guided by the list, delete all the files and folders, being extremely careful to delete from the exact locations shown in the list.
