Trying to unlock iPhone 4
trying to unlock a iphone 4 with orange ive got the phone off mother in law she rang orange got an email confirming and said it would work today if followed instructions but when i connected to i tunes it said the carrier is not supported please help oh by the way im using a giff gaff sim cheers in advance
To complete the unlock of a device, it normally requires the device to be restored as new, generally with a SIM from the carrier you are unlocking from. However, I've seen some where it can be another carrier, however it has to be a supported carrier, and that could explain the fact it is reporting it is not a supported carrier.

After submitting the unlock request to at&t it was seemingly approved. But after getting off the phone with customer support it turns out that it was unlocked after the fraud check failed, this is why it won`t accept any sim card. Now I´m supposed to contact apple but they would charge me because I do not have coverage anymore... Is anybody from the community able to help?

What fraud check.
the process - contact AT&T - then restore your phone as new - then you should get a message saying congrats your phone is now unlocked. -

The only ones who can unlock your iPhone is your phone company/carrier.
You need to contact them and if they offer unlocking for your phone then ask them to unlock it and if they don't, there is nothing you can do. In this case, you either need to purchase another phone that is fully and officially unlocked or you need to continue to use your phone with your current operator.
Contact your phone comapny/carrier directly - they are the ONLY ones who can help you. -

I have two iphones 4 and two bugs on the white one
1/ Is the first gen (Black)
2/ Is the second gen (White MC604FB)
I both uptdated the into Update iOs 6.0 -
Bug 1 : With the white iPhone 4 i have a real Wifi Problem, as close as 5 to 7 meters from any WiFi spot, i lose the signal, where my "black" iphone at the same time and same distance shows full signal (and tested with safari.... works).
Bug 2 : Once the white iphone is in "stand by" when trying to unlock on incoming call, the touch screen works and receive the touch information, but it bugs on trying to unlock to receive the call. (very very anoying :o) have to call back almost every time.
Are those already known bugs ? Is there a fix ?

I have 24H ago updated to iOS 6.01. So far no more "screen jam" on incoming calls, but the wifi is still inconsistent with very poor signal strenght (compare to my black iphone 4)
PS : For information, did beleive there was two versions of iphone 4 (In Europe ) :
1/ Is firts generation "gen" with With board MC603FB
2/ The white one for me with board MC604FB -

Hi, I recently tried to unlock my iphone using a programme off the internet. All seemed fine until it prompted me to restore it and since then all I get is the usb into itunes logo. I've tried to restore it on itunes but it comes up error. I've tried re-installing the unlocking software but still nothing. Is there anything I can do?

By jailbreaking your phone using a program off the internet, you have voided your warranty, and have forfeited any right to support by Apple, including this forum. It's very possible (and in fact, very likely) you'll never get your phone working again. Hope it was worth the try.

Got an (unlocked) iphone 4s from US and tried activating in India but it throws an error saying 'unable to activate bcos the activation server cannot be reached' ..I tried connecting to itunes through my laptop but it does not detect my iphone..pls help

As kb1951 states, unless this phone was purchased directly from Apple, it is not officially unlocked. In the US, only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones. The message you got generally means your phone was hacked to unlock it...jailbroken...Apple's servers have detected such & are preventing your phone from activating...there's nothing wrong with the activation servers.
You'll need a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to in order to activate it. If you don't know what carrier, you'll have to call AppleCare in the US to determine this info. Be aware, US carriers will not authorize official unlocking unless you are a customer that used the phone on their network. Thus, there is most likely no way for you to get this phone officially unlocked.

Only the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Why do you think they would do so before you complete the terms of your contract? I don't know specifically what their policy is, but most carriers won't do so unless they are legally required to.
If you didn't want to use Optus, why did you sign a contract with them? -

I paid early termination fee two months ago to Verizon and am now out of the country. Am trying to unlock the phone but the local guys say they are not able to. I see from the blog here that iPhone 5 comes unlocked. Is it true?? Do I still have to unlock. How do I go about it?

Just need an active local SIM card that is compatible with your iPhone. Your local provider
may need to configure some settings under Cellular, but it should pick up signal. Just in
case, make sure that Settings>Cellular>Roaming>Voice & Data are
active.
