Trying to unshare the scanner on a PIXMA MG1300.

My dad keeps complaining about his computer defaulting to the scanner on my PIXMA MG1300 instead of the scanner in his office. I managed to make it so the printer isn't shared; is there any way to do it for the scanner deck?

Your dad will want to set whatever printer/scanner he wants to be the primary as the default on his computer. What operating system does he have?

Getting "HP imaging device not found" error when trying to use the scanner in mountain lion. Anyone else have this problem?

The odd thing is the printer works, but the scanner isn't recognized.
I ran the latest Mac software update first, and then reinstalled the HP software. I checked all the settings as suggested from the HP site, but nothing seems to work.
Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

I can't find the scanner on my Macbook Pro

I'm operating Macbook Pro OSX 10.9.2 Mavericks. I'm trying to install the scanner part of my PIXMA MP560. The printer installed, but the scanner doesn't show up. I downloaded the drive for it but still no luck. Any suggestions?

As arthur mentions, try using Image Capture...
Launch Image Capture located in your Applications folder.
Connect the scanner to your Mac whether Wi-Fi or USB.
Click the very small black box bottom left side of the Image Capture window.
You'll see this pop up menu: Connecting this (device) opens:
You can select a default app to scan (Image Capture) and select a folder from the Import To pop up menu on the right to save scanned files to.
If you need help with the Image Capture software, click Help from the Image Capture menu bar.

Is it possible to reuse the Scanner instance in this case?

I have a data file that gets updated by another process, and in my program I periodically read the file, and if there'S new data added I will update my data structure (contained in ArrayLists).
The issue is for every read I have to re-create a Scanner instance and skips all the lines that have been read. Since the file could get really long, and to skip lines in the file we need still to call scanner.readLine() which might be expensive since it interacts with the hard disk, I'm trying to reuse the Scanner instance and count on the scanner.hasNextLine() to return true if new lines are inserted to the file by the other process:
while (in.hasNextLine()) {
String line = in.nextLine();
// intepret th eline here
This code is put in a Runnable that is executed periodically, and I was hoping that the next time it is called in.hasNextLine() would return true and we can happily start where we were left off.
But the bloody method does NOT return true even though new lines have been added to the file. Does anyone know to make it recognize that the file has been updated? Or really there's no other way but to re-open the file and skip old lines as I'm doing now?
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated!

Unix has a nice little utility called 'tee' that allows you to write out to a file AND stdout, allowing you to connect other commands via a pipe. I'm sure you could write something similar for Java; however, if this is intended as a daemon process, you'd probably have to make it non-blocking, which might be an issue.
Alternatively, have you considered using a database instead of a file?

You could have made your question here much easier to understand. You mentioned none of this in your first two posts.
There's a fairly recent version of that extension for Safari, here: https://code.google.com/p/mailto-chromeextension/downloads/list
If that doesn't work, maybe you should try using the Chrome version.

HT4628 My Epson Artisan 725 prints just fine but, when I tried to scan it seems not to be connected. I downloaded the scanner driver but I don't see it. And I can't find where to verify settings.

I'm having trouble scanning with my Epson all in one. I downloaded the scanner driver and tried a couple of things through epson support. I can't seem to find the driver on my Mac anywhere. I tried to download it again but still can't locate it. My printer is an Epson Artisan 725. The driver for the printer looks to be a 720.

In Safari, click on Safari in the upper left of your screen and then click on Preferences. Go to the Security tab...... see below. Select either Never or From third parties...... That should do it.

Trying to get the TWAIN function of an HP Scanner to work with my Photoshop

I have a HP C4180 All-in-One Printer/Scanner; When i had my Windows system and I installed the Drivers, It became part of Photoshop via the TWAIN function, and allowed me to use the scanner through photoshop;
When i got my apple laptop with Leopard and i attached it to the print, it worked right away, but the twain wouldn't work;
Could someone help me to set it up correctly?

First, you need the very latest HP software. HP printers/scanners have been problematical with Leopard and HP has been slow in updating their software. TWAIN, is something else, entirely. If the software is not completely compliant with Leopard's security, they will most likely fail. You need new TWAIN as well.
There are many discussions in these fora concerning HP and problems with Leopard. You can search for them. Many have been solved or at least work-arounds have been offered.

I have a Pixma MX310 multifunction printer. I am having problems with the scanner.

I have a dell computer with windows 7 os. 64X . I have a Canon MX310 multifuncton printer. The scanner has been working fine. Now I am having problems. I am getting an error message when I scan. It scans and then this message comes up from the scanner.
"You are missing a necessary feature. Please install Desktop Experience from the Server Manager. Then restart the computer."
This comes up as a caution sign and I can't get beyond it. I have restarted the computer several times and uninstalled and reinstalled the software.
Any clues would be appreciated

An error occurred while communicating with the scanner canon mp640

Since 3 weeks I have this error *An error occurred while communicating with the scanner" when I tried to scan some document.
The all in one CANON PIXMA MP640 is connected via WIFI to my network and the printer works without problems.
I have repaired the disk permission but I have the same problem.
I have also removed the Scanner only from the system preferences and re-installed the software CD from CANON, no changes.
Do you have any idea about this type of problem? and help me for a solution?

First, delete the scanner again. Then I would suggest downloading the latest version from the Canon website.

Select your OS and download/install.
