Trying to update an app and it says waiting and never updates
I had 3 apps that needed updating, I went to the App icon and pressed update to all three. They all said "waiting" for a couple days and never installed. Then I deleted the apps and tried downloading them and they said the same thing "waiting", but never downloaded. Now, I try downloading any app to see if anything will download and I am still having the same problem.
Any advice?
I have tried reseting my phone a couple different ways and that doesn't seem to help either.

What worked for me was deleting the application, resetting the iPhone and then try downloading it again. If that doesn't work, then as Allan suggested, sync the apps to the iPHone via iTunes.

The free apps and the ones I try to purchase will not download. I have updated all my app and the ios 5 have the most recent updates. I have turned off the system and reset the system and it will still not download the apps. When I purchase an app it ask for password. iPad App Store app said "20 updates". Attempted to update w/3G. Updated some, but now many apps say "waiting" and are frozen. I attempted to update then by attaching to computer Itunes Store. All it did was very quickly go thru the 4 steps and said, "Synched, OK to uplug." I clicked my ipad and then apps. It also said Update complete (or something like that). Now several apps on iPad are frozen and say "Waiting". Help!!
Oh a few other things I forgot.
The long winded back-ups!!!! JESSSSSSH! Although I think the latest update seems to have bit into this a bit.
Also why is it that sometimes when the iPhone is syncing it will not say on the actual iPhone that it is syncing. I see it's syncing in iTunes but the iPhone doesn't have the typical do not disconnect -syncing message!!! What's odd is I can see the new apps being updated to the iPhone and as long as I don't open any apps it will finish it's sync but the minute I open any apps the iPhone will lock-up!!! -
When I try to reinstall an app it just says waiting and then tells me cant go into iTunes.

Never comes up says can't enter I storeIf there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Tap on the one that says Waiting if the above is not the case and it should resume downloading.

What exactly happens when you try to buy the app ? If you are trying to gift it then you will need a credit card on your account, gifting can't be done via your balance.
If you are being prompted to review your account then how did you create the account ? Unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.

If you are buying for yourself and it's charging your card then it shouldn't, your balance should be used up first before any remainder is charged to your card. New Apps or updates not downloading. It says "waiting" and will not download on 4s
I have a new 4S. I tried to update my apps and they're just stuck on "waiting". Will not load. Help.
No messages pop up.
I am able to access the app store, browse and send/receive mail. so my internet connection is fine. Also my ipad works just fine over the same network.
The app is a very small file. (A flashlight app for iphone)

Tapping and rebooting has not helped me. It is Gmail. I can open from the App store download.

Restart your iPod. Hold down the sleep / wake button until you see the red slider then swipe to power off. Then hold down the sleep / wake button until you see the Apple logo.
Try iTunes. -
TS1702 Why are my apps updates and apps remaining in the "waiting" and "pause" state?
I get update notices for my apps but when I click to update my apps remain in the "waiting" and "Pause" state.
I have tried powering down my phone and restarting it to see if that will resovle the problem but it's not correcting the problem.
I have deleted several apps just to remove them.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Glam33Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the iTunes Store.
You can also try resetting or restoring the iPhone.
And, if that doesn't do it, try contacting Apple through Express Lane. -
I just found my old ipod touch (i think 1st generation) and would like to let my toddler use it instead of my phone. I am trying to download apps but it say I need to update to 4.3 but it won't let me update. I have the most recent itunes. any idea why? I saw a thread saying to purchase the newest software (that was posted a few years ago) I paid 4.95 for the software and it's still saying it can't be updated. Am I just SOL??
The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

I'm trying to update apps and download new ones on mi ipad, but it doesn't work... the icons say "waiting" and nothing happens for days!Help!
Here are a bunch of things that you can try to get the downloads to resume.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad. -
My App Store won't allow me to download any apps. It says such and such app is unable to download try again later every time. I have enough storage all my devices are up to date on all updates please help
I am a librarian at a 1:1 iPad school and we are having this problem with all ~3000 student iPads as well at ~300 teacher iPads. This is extremely frustrating. I have tried suggested fixes found on other discussion boards but none have worked.

I downloaded the Keynote app to use on my iPad and because of iCloud, it is trying unsuccessfully to download onto my iPhone. How can I get it to stop attempting to download onto my iPhone? It says waiting and I can't delete it (no X to click). Thx!
Did you try shutting down the device? Resetting? Disabling iCloud? Disabling auto-update?
I'd find the problem that is keeping the download from proceeding and fix that so that the process can finish...sounds like it may be your connection or a server issue, in which case you may need to wait. -

If you did the update through iTunes, try going into the Settings App on your iPhone and doing the Software Update in there. The same thing happened to me, and the wireless update worked.
