Trying to update. Getting 1600 error

I reinstalled my windows 7 os and am trying to update my iphone manualy and getting this horrible 1600 error. My phone is in DFU any ideas? I think that it does not use the DFU driver or something.

Hello, SofiaO.
The following article details how to completely remove iTunes and related software from your system (be sure to choose the article that's appropriate for your version of Windows). This should alleviate the need to modify the mentioned file.

There are many people suffering from this problem right now (including me). It appears to be a server issue. Just wait and try checking for updates again tomorrow.
Some things I have heard indicate that this may be a regional problem, though what parts of the world are affected I don't know yet. A few people have been helped by deleting the following preference file (paste the path into the Go -> Go to Folder window in the Finder to locate it), though most have not:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
Note that if you are trying to download iTunes 10.7, that can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576
Also, note that there is no reason to be anxious to get it, as the only thing added in iTunes 10.7 is compatibility with iOS 6, which will not be available until the 19th, and the new iPhone, which will not be available until later as well. The new iTunes that was announced is iTunes 11, which is also not yet available.

Thanks.  I have followed all the instructions as recommended and nothing has worked so it looks like the restore/update may have been interrupted - would loss of internet connection do this?
Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data.  Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!
Good luck, but if you expect miracle from that call good luck again.

  • Trying to update ipad2 and error is can open url what do I do

trying to update ipad2 get error can not open URL what do I do

Try a reset and see if it resumes loading after the iPad has restarted (I assume that you are connected to a network) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then you could try syncing it from you computer's iTunes, or dragging and dropping it from iTunes onto the iPad device

  • Tried to update Quicktime - reporting errors

Tried to update quicktime with itunes. Got a:
Error writing to file c:/program files/quicktime/qtsystems/quicktime.resources/quicktime.dll Verify that you have access to that directory
Had to abort. Tried to delete the file and reinstall quicktime. Would not let me delete. "Cannot delete Quicktime: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)"
Now I cannot install quicktime at all.
    Have Windows XP

Had to abort. Tried to delete the file and reinstall quicktime. Would not let me delete. "Cannot delete Quicktime: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)"
hmmmm. both sets of symptoms are consistent with disk damage or file damage on the C drive.
try running a chkdsk over your C, as per the following document:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? if so, does a QuickTime install go through afterwards?

  • TS1368 Pressing "update" gets an error.

On the iPhone, only when pressing "update" from the app store I get this error: "Cannot connect to the itunes store" everything else works fine, like opening iTunes, Apps Store, installing new apps, etc... only the update button gets the error.

I tried to update to IOS7 and it lights up every second it goes on and off goes on and off I think it's destroyed anyone know?

I was trying to update my iphone 5 to IOS7 and couldnt do it for 5 times then I did the following and was able to update it right away
Clearing your DNS cache may resolve the issue and enable you to connect to the iTunes Store.
The easiest way to clear your DNS cache is to shut down your computer completely and then restart. If you can't shut down, you can clear your DNS cache manually.
    Click Start and choose Run.
In the dialog that appears, type “cmd” (don’t type the quotes) and click OK.
After the DOS prompt (C:\), type “ipconfig /flushdns” (without the quotes) and press Enter. Make sure you enter a single blank space after “ipconfig.”
Let me know if it solved the issue for you

  • Trying itunes 10.7 update; get NSURLErrorDomain error -1100

I'm trying to download the itunes update from the app store, and this error pops up: NSURLEerrordomain error - 1100.  I have no idea what it is or how to fix it.  I'm running mountain lion on my macbook.  Haven't tried updating on my ipod yet.

Apple's software update servers are probably being hammered (though why this has to happen every year with an iPhone/iTunes release I can't say -- they should have figured out a way to handle the load by now).
You can download the update manually from here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
I did that last night and was getting 3MB/s on the download.
p.s. According to Xcode, NSURL error -1100, is "file does not exist".

  • Issues starting Windows Update (Getting an Error message)

Hello, I have gotten a computer within the last 3 months and for that time everything was running fine. However, within the last day or two (after Windows installed an optional update) I have been having issues with opening "Windows Update". I
have googled the error message I am getting and most of the things are describing this same problem with windows media player, which I am not having the issue with. So far, I have tried clearing out my search history in the windows metro settings, cleaning
my registry, rebuilt my index, and doing an entire windows restore (which worked untill I re-installed the update) I am using Windows 8.1.
This is the error message I am getting: http://prntscr.com/582lj7
What happens is I search for windows update, click on it, then it does nothing then after a few minutes that error message pops up. Sometimes along with the windows update program, sometimes not. Often not, and then after a few good minutes a bunch of windows
update windows will pop up for each time I clicked it.
Lastly, I am also having a problem restarting my computer and I believe it may be tied to this issue it just stays at the restart screen for ever untill I manually hit the button to turn off the computer.
Do I need to do another system restore and this time don't install the update? Or, is there an easier fix to this problem?

This is the error message I am getting: http://prntscr.com/582lj7
    [}.settingcontent-ms  Server execution failed]
Here's one way to find what is not working:
    cd /d  %LocalAppData%\Packages
    dir/a/b/s  *.settingscontent-ms  |  find  "Classic_{36e"  |  clip
Then open a Notepad window and do a Ctrl-o Ctrl-v and Enter
Somehow I think the failure may have more to do with the program which "executes" the .settingcontent-ms  file extension...
    C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Packages>assoc .settingcontent-ms
    .settingcontent-ms=SettingContent
    C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Packages>ftype SettingContent
File type 'SettingContent' not found or no open command associated with it.
    What a surprise!  OTOH consistency found in W8's continual obfuscation and unhelpfulness.  ; }
For a guess about something hopefully related that you could try see

Otherwise, as usual I would be running ProcMon to try to understand what was going on.
    Good luck

  • 1.Can't sync music error. 2. When trying to update: 1403 corrupted error?

For some reason, my iPhone was "freaking out" when I was trying to access its music library earlier today (constant flickering back forth between different songs by a single artist). In the end, all the music from my phone was deleted . Then when I was trying to transfer music, I got an error from iTunes when I try manually "drag n drop" to sync new music: "the iphone cannot be synced. an internal device error occurred". Any advice? I'm running iOS 6.1.3, when I try to restore, I got error: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occured (-1)".

  • Trying to Update - Get "Download Unavailable" Code 503

I'm trying to download the update Name: update_SCH-I535_LG1_to_LG7 and it will not update.
I already downloaded this update through wifi, and when it was done downloading, nothing happened.
Now when I go to the Software Update screen it says Download Unavailable under "Status" and 503 under "Code."
The "Check New" button at the bottom is greyed out and I tried booting into safe mode with no luck.  I also tried clicking "Software Update" while on 4G and still no luck.  I've restarted my phone multiple times and it doesn't seem to work.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you successfully downloaded the update, you could check to see if it is on the SD card, or you could boot to the bootloader and see if it updates that way.  To get to the bootloader, you have to power down the device, then power back up while holding the home and vol down key.  This should take you to recovery, and from there should be an option to boot to the bootloader.  If the file was successfully downloaded, it should automatically start applying.  This may be a shot in the dark, but based on my experience with Android, if the file is in the proper place, this would initiate the update.
