Trying to update iTunes but keep getting the error messag "the url could not be opened" when it's always worked fine in the past. What does this mean?

Trying to update my iTunes but keep getting the error message "the URL could not be opened" what does this mean and how do I resolve this? It's always worked fine in the past!

Select a broken track and press ctrl-i to Get Info. Look on the summary tab for the location where iTunes "thinks" the file should be. Where is it really? Post back the two locations and I can suggest the best approach.

  • TS1398 cannot connect to the store : a secure connection could not be established. Please check your date and time settings. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???

    please help!!
    thank you xxx

Your date, time and region settings have to be correct to connect to the iTunes store.  This is from Apple:
From the home screen, tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
If the option exists, turn off Set Automatically.
Verify the time zone and time (in the status bar) are correct for where you are currently.
If not, adjust the incorrect setting accordingly.
If everything was correct and the option exists, turn on Set Automatically.
You must also be able to open a secure connection to access the iTunes store.  Launc Safari on your phone and see if you can go to https://appleid.apple.com.  If you can't then see the troubleshooting steps under "Blocked by software firewall: (Mac OS X/Windows)" in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I tried to update itunes but keep getting the message download corupted

I tried to update itunes but keep getting the message download corupted.  Try later to download the update.  I have tried 5 times.  I looked for the corupted download to delete but could not find it. What is the best way to proceed?

I'd try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple Website:

  • Tried to update ITunes, but keep getting error: Service "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services". How do I get my ITunes back?

Tried to update ITunes, but keep getting error: Service "Apple Mobile Device failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
So how do I get my ITunes back?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • I'm trying to upgrade to the latest iTunes, but keep getting an error message C:\config.msi\7db625.rbf

    Please help
I'm trying to upgrade to the latest iTunes, but keep getting an error message C:\config.msi\7db625.rbf

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Trying to install itunes but keep getting windows error126 message and libicuin.dll missing

trying to install itunes but keep getting windows error 126 message and libicuin.dll missing have reinstalled numerous times and keep getting same messages.

Are you saving the installer first and then installing, or are you running the installer directly from Apple's website? Also save first.
If you're saving first and still having issues, try and use Microsoft's Cleanup Utility and then reinstall Quicktime/iTunes:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Make sure it's a new and fresh download from:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If not mentioned in the articles, make a new user account in Windows and see if iTunes opens. That will tell you if there's something funky in your main account (if the new user works), or if you have a system-wide issue.

  • I am trying to update itunes to 11.1.1.11 and i keep getting 'erreo writing to file : C\ : Config.Ms\301ded48.rfb.Verify that you have access to that directory'. What does this mean and how can i fix it?

I am trying to update itunes to 11.1.1.11 and keep getting message at the end ' error writing to file :c:\Config.Msi\301ded48.rbf.Verify that you have access to that directory'. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

I had this exact same problem just now, trying to upgrade to 10.7.
I even got that error msg when trying to UNINSTALL iTunes!
After hours of frustration trying everyone's different suggestions, I downloaded Revo Uninstaller http://www.cnet.com.au/apps/revo-uninstaller-10610875/ which solved the problem.
Use it to help uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then you can install iTunes from scratch.
    Good luck

  • I have tried to update itunes and I get an error message. Any ideas?

Itunes said it had a update. When I tried to install it gave me the 1114 error message. When I try to open itunes it tells me there was a problem installing itunes. I tried to install itunes from their website but I get an error message their also.

  • I am the administrator for my computer, however I have tried several times to install itunes but keep getting an error message.

Apple gives an error signal saying that I need to be an adminstrator to make changes to all the users...there is only one adminstrator account and one guest account.

It reads that I don't have enough adminstrative privileges for every account to download the program
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please.
Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

I am trying to download itunes to windows 7 and keep getting the error message "cannot access network location $APPDATA%\." I have contacted an Apple advisor and was not able to resolve the problem. What to do?

Since this a problem pertaining to the iTunes application, you might have better luck posting this in the iTunes forum.

  • I was trying to download iBooks, but keep getting an error message. Other apps do download.

I seem to be able to download other apps, but when I try to download iBooks I get an error message.

    Hi,
I just updated my iTunes account and added a valid credit card in addition to the gift card, waited a while, and iBooks still would not install, so I thought, I did not do much yet so next step.
I went ahead did a 'Erase all Content" and settings, gave the iPad a new name, and strated over - still the same problem: iBooks crashed rigth after it started installing, with the "An Unknown Error occured message"
Ok next try is to download iBooks on iTunes on my Mac, and then sync the App over to the iPad .. and I have iBooks installed on my iPad.
... Not quite sure what did the trick, but I would recommend every body in this thread to download iBooks on iTunes on the PC or Mac and sync it back to the iPad . that worked for me.
good luck everybody and thanks for all of your help !

  • IPhone told me I needed to restore and update, also said the phone did not have an IMEI number. I tried to restore from iTunes but keep getting an error message.

Ok I need help. I went to use my phone, put in my passcode, emergency dial came up, then the phone said I didn't have an imei #. I hit the back button and then I was told I needed to restore and update using iTunes. I tried several times to do this and my phone is still not working. It acts like it's updating, but once the bar reaches the other side of my phone, iTunes tells me there was an error. I used all the ports on my pc, changed cables, restarted my pc, and still nothing. Can anyone please help me. This phone is my life and I can't afford to get another one.

Sounds like you might need to take it to an Apple Store but if it is an iPhone 3G it would no longer be under warranty.
Looking at the Apple Store online you can get an iPhone 3GS from $49 on AT&T if it comes to having to get a new one. Your other option is second hand.
