Trying to update my 5800

For 3 hours I'm trying to update my 5800.
Tried with OVI suite, no luck, moved to PC Suite, again, no luck.
30 times.
This is absolutely ridiculous, can't Nokia make it harder? Or, maybe, don't provide updates at all?
This way, I spent half of my day here, to no avail, trying to do something that is impossible.
Note to NOKIA: Update Software DOESN'T WORK. Ok? Got it?
Now, a important question, who wants a 5800 Xpress Music with 3 months of use that doesn't accept updates? So I can go and buy a phone, a real phone.

Upgrading firmware depends on your product code.

  • Updating Nokia 5800 XM Prob

    I tried to upgrade my 5800 OTA, it started downloading but when it reached the middle it stopped and reported
    "network unavailable." though i could use Fringe, so it wasn't problem with my connection, I  thought it was something to do with Nokia's Server. 
    I tried again and now it shows "No Update Available" , though just a minute ago it shouwed, I hard Reset my phone and what not but it just doesn't show the update. any ideas ?? it sucks..

    Upgrading your phone via OTA is the easiest and safest way to upgrade your device there can be...
    Go to Menu --> Settings --> Phone --> Phone mgmt. --> Device update --> Options --> Check for updates
    You´ll need a WiFi or any other full internet access point to make it work! And your battery should be at least 3/4 full or connected to the charger.
     The advantage of this is that the "data preservation" won´t wipe your phone and you don´t have to set it up again...

    I own a nokia 5800 on t-mobile UK. I'm on a mac so cannot use the device update software. I entered *#0000# and tried to update it. However I got asked to create a new server profile. I read some 'default' nokia server settings on another forum and entered them but received a message saying server not responding. I've tried some other server settings I found but none of it works. I really would like to update it! Help me please!

  • I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop.  I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG.  Is there a way to use

    I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3.  When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files.  I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file.  I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud.  I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

    I have a iphone I do not use as a phone anymore. I use the apps and the music on it though. I downloaded itunes and I am trying to update the phone so I can purchase music and apps for it. When I plug it to the computer it starts syncing and runs a good 20 minutes and then I get an error saying it cannot update and it takes me to a update repair page that does nothing to help. Can someone help me on what to do? I have my own itunes account, I have wi-fi, I have all the songs on my phone I purchased but I cant get it to sync with itunes at all. I can do nothing. Is this usual? Can I do something so I can still use the phone as a Ipod putting new stuff on it or am I stuck with all the old stuff and I can never add anything on it? HELP

    From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes.  Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue.  To update or not to update?  And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
    I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista.  My workflow dictates 32b fyi.  One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126),  5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day.  My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12)  Windows mounts it just fine.  itunes is not having it.  no shirt no shoes no service.
    I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano.  The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad!  Weird huh?  I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
    I'm at a loss on the thinkpad.  Scanned for intruders.  Cut the Lenovo bloat.  Executed system and reg maintenance.  Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail.  NO NO NO.  Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad.  Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update.  :|
    So in summary for me:
    5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^  last working version for me = 11.0.1
    5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0  but no way in the world am I updating
    4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?

    Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
    Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
    The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • I want to know if I can backup my Ipad to an external harddrive. I have a pc with xp pro media edition and a partitioned hard drive with very little space on C and lots on D. I am trying to update my Ipad to 5.1.1 and it says it needs 12  gb to backup.

    I have a Sony Vaio desktop PC with a partitioned hard drive, running Windows XP Pro. There is 13 gb on C drive with the OS, and 140 gb left on D drive. I am  trying to update my Original Ipad from 4.3.4 to 5.1.1 and because C drive is full ( I have moved everything that can be moved to D drive) mostly from Microsoft updates over the years, I am unable to do  the backup Itunes is telling me I have to do to update or lose all media on this iPad. 12.67 gb is required to do the backup and I have a whopping 965.2 MB.  I can not get the cloud to use as backup as it requires 5.0 or better. Does anyone know if I can back up to D drive,  and if so how? Also, I have a 1 terrabyte WD mini external hard drive I just got as a gift...could I do the backup to it and, again, if so, how? Please explain from start to finish, as my brain is now fried from, first from finally getting Itunes updated to 10.6 ,and now trying to do this update. Thanks to anyone for their help!!

  • HT201210 I tried to update my Iphone 4S & was sent an error message telling me to restore my phone & did so & now my phone is unable to be used because it will not complete the restoring process & is locked in this screen not letting me use it at all.

    I was trying to update my software to on my phone and it would not let me do so sending me a message to restore my phone before I can complete an update so I did this but it would not complete the restore and was sent another message stating that my phone is already in recovery mode and a restore needs to be completed before I can update any software. I have tried this four times now and my phone screen is stuck with the Itunes symbol on it along with a picture of the plug. It will not let me eject or do absolutely anything.     - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
