Trying to update my Iphone 4 on Itunes on Windows XP but a message appears that says "unable to update IPhone. Please check network settings/config., etc...or try again later". Please help
Need to update my IPhone 4 and connected to the itunes on windows XP. I clicked on update and waited. A message appears that says," Cannot update etc. Please check your network settings/config., etc... or try again later" and it's been happening for a while. Please help.
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I get this message when i try to sync and download my iphone, ITUNES was unable to load data class information from sync services, reconnect or try again later. this has happened twice. i have not downloaded by phone in several months. the first time i got this message i did not understand i and left my phone plug in for 12 hrs and it never did anything. today. when i got the message i just unplugged it.

If you could read just a tiny little bit further, under the "Additional Information" section immediately after that, it says:
If you are still experiencing this issue when syncing, or have not installed Xcode 4 and get this alert:
Follow the troubleshooting steps in Mac OS X v10.5, v10.6: Resetting the SyncServices folder.
If the issue is still unresolved, follow steps in Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing.

When I connect my iTouch to my PC (windows 7) an error message is displayed reading "iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from sync services. Reconnect or try again later". Hi Everyone, been struggling all day to restore my settings on my ipod, as my little brother has put a restriction password in place and made me not able to get into Safari, iTunes, Camera which I really need. I have tried everything, resetting my proxy settings, turning off the firewall, changing my network location, ran diagnostics. Everything seems fine on that, I post below my results. I also tried restoring from the device, but with the restrictions code in place I can not do so. And everytime I am dowloading the software update before the restore it comes up with 'Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later'. I have been using google for ages and am not sure what I have missed.

Did that and I tried again, download stops halfway through and comes up with same message I have already quoted. Wifi Signal is 5/5, network is working, just not letting me download via iTunes. -

i just had this message for the fist time when trying to sync my iphone 4: "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later"
what i did is that:
- i unplugged my iphone 4
- clicked on "edit" in itunes, "Preferences", "devices", "reset synck history"
- Uninstalled itunes
- restarted the lap top
- reinstalled itunes
then i tired and the iphone synced fine. i tried it a few times and it was fine.
but i have 2 questions:
1- could this be cause by excessive syncing, since i do sync my phone almost twice a week.
2- is what i did good enough for a solution or do i need to rename folders and resort to the other solutions provided?OK
Here's what I did:
1. Copy all of the contents in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support folder, overwriting anything it if asked.
2. Rright-click on the Computer icon on your desktop (or in the start menu) and select Properties. Click on Advanced System Settings. Then clik on Environment Variables. If you don't have a user variable called PATH, click New... and add it, or select it and click Edit...
Now, add to the beginning of the user PATH the following two directories:
c:\program files\commmon files\apple\Apple Application Support
c:\program files\commmon files\apple\Mobile Device Support
Be sure to put a semi-colon (;) between the two directories.
Click OK three times to save your settings.
Step #2 might require a reboot.
After these 2 steps sync works again (touch wood).
Seems that sometimes there's an additional possibility (which I didn't perform):
If you are still having problems after following these steps, it's possible another application uses one of the same DLLs as iTunes (but a different version) and Windows is finding it in the PATH before the Apple file paths added above. You can check this by opening a DOS command prompt window and executing the following commands:
where libxml2.dll
where sqlite3.dll
where libtidy.dll
Examine the pathnames listed by these commands. If any paths are listed before the ...\Common Files\Apple\... paths, you'll want to remove those paths from the PATH environment variable. -

As the original poster is talking about a 730 meg download then I assume that they are still on iOS 4.3.5 or below and can therefore only download via their computer's iTunes - you need to be on iOS 5+ before you get the OTA option. -

Did anything happen to the computer? It appears that you are trying to sync to another iTunes library since in that case you can only sync with one iTunes library.
