Trying to update my ipod software so I can use my Bose Sounddock remote

Hi,
I have a 30 GB 5th Gen ipod that is running Version 1.2, apparently I need version 2.2 to use my Bose Sounddock remote. After searching the Apple website to find a way to download version 2.2, Apple kept bringing me back to the latest itunes 7 download which is supposed to alert you to any ipod updates. So I have downloaded itunes 7 which tells me my ipod is updated with version 1.2. How can I get 2.2 on my ipod?
I notice other people are having similar problems with no solutions, thought I would give it another try, any solutions?
Thanks,
Jessica

Version 2.2 of the software is designed for a different model of iPod, most likely the third generation models, and is older than your model of iPod. The current version of the iPod software for your model is version 1.21; if the remote doesn't work with this version, you probably can't use it with your iPod.
The version numbers are determined relative to the release of the original iPod for first through fourth generation full-size models, and relative to the release of the first iPod with that product name for other iPods, including the iPod photos.

  • Trying to update my ipod software, but it says /iTunes/ is up to date...?

I haven't updated my iPod Touch in a long time -- it's iOS 4.1. iTunes says it needs to be updated, but when I press the update button, I get a message telling me that "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version." And that's it. It never even tries to get the iPod software. What the...? What am I supposed to do, here?
My Mac is old; it's 10.4.11 and lacks Intel. Software update says that everything is up to date.

You need itunes 10, which requires Mac OS 10.5.8 or later in order to update your ipod.

I am trying to update the software on an Ipod Touch 3G but can't find software updates in the generral settings.

What is the firmware of the iPod touch you're updating right now? If it's not 5.x, then you cannot, because that was a primary feature of 5.0 (the mobile software updates). Then, you would have to update the software using your computer and iTunes

  • HT1766 Can the iPad 1 (the original) be updated to current iOS? I cannot figure out any way to update it's software so I can use newer apps

I'm trying to update the software on the original iPad.  Cannot figure it out.. Can it be done at all? If so how?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • I want to update my ipod touch so i can use mobile me but...

My Itunes wants to force me to sync the Ipod Touch when all I want to do is update the Ipod Touch to the latest software to use MobileMe. I have an IPod nano that I don't want to wipe clean just to get this done. There's got to be a way. Do I have to create a second Itunes account? If so, how do I do that? Help!

You can sync more than one iPod with iTunes, there is no need to create another account.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • When updating new iPhone software I have to use a different computer.

When trying to update new iPhone software I have to use my MacBook instead of my iMac. If I use the iMac I can download the software with no problem, but when updating it gets to the point where it's almost done then it just stops. When I use the MacBook I can complete the whole process no problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Any reason why you have not updated to 10.6.4? On your iMac, navigate to ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates and delete any & all .ipsw files you find. There should only be one, but delete all that are listed. You will most likely have to first turn on show all hidden files & folders to see them. Once done, run software update. Make sure iTunes is up to date. Once done, launch disk utility from your utilities folder, select your hard drive, select "Repair Permissions". When finished, re-boot your computer. See if you can update now. There should be NO firewalls or anti-virus running...none.

  • Trouble updating InDesign CC 2014 so I can use DPS tools.

I am trying to update InDesign CC 2014 so I can use DPS tools. But "updates" is grayed out. I noticed that CC desktop says InDesign is up to date. Any suggestions?

You could try renaming your AdobeUpdateAdminPrefs.dat file. It looks like Adobe CS6 and CC have an automatic update mechanism that can sometimes prevent users from seeing available updates.
    - Locate the file:
    Mac OS
    <Startup Disk>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
Windows 7.0 and Higher (32 bit)
    C:\Program files\common files\adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
Windows 7.0 and higher (64 bit)
    C:\Program files(x86)\common files\adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
    - Try renaming the file, such as AdobeUpdateAdminPrefs-old.dat
    - Restart InDesign
    - See if the update is now available

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

    No.
