Trying to update my phone

I'm tying to update my iphone 4 and It keeps telling me that my server is not connected to itunes. What does this mean bc both my pc and phone are connected to my wireless internet.

Did you EVER try to hack the phone using tinyumbrella or similar util? If so, you altered the computer Host file and can no longer contact the Apple server - gs.apple.com. You'll have to edit the host file to remove all references to gs.apple.com.

Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.

Good for you that can't update your iphone because I did it and my iphone dosen't work for example I can't download any app like Wecaht or Twitter..

Try to sync after deleting a bunch of stuff, see if that clears up space.
If that doesn't work, then back up your device and then restore from that backup. That should do the trick.

thanks Razmee...I wasnt aware of this. For some reason I thought it was all backed up in itunes and sitting somewhere in the cloud, not on a hard drive. Should spend more time looking into this things....how have people time for this? I mean, I dont even have time to go to the shops and pick up my 4S upgrade!!
