Trying to Upgrade iLife 5 to iLife 6 - Elusive Error

Hi, Searching the Apple website was unproductive.
I'm a paid user of iLife 5.0 with master installer CD. I have the receipt on file. I downloaded the various iLife 6 applications, ran the Apple installer to perform the iLife 5.0 to iLife 6.0 upgrade. The installer returned errors similiar to this on each of the various applications:
"You cannot install iDVD Update on this volume. An eligible iDVD application was not found in the location / Applications / DVD.app"
The above error message (obviously) fails to describe "why" and fails to describe what the user must do.
How do I upgrade from iLife 5 to iLife 6, is there an upgrade fee I must pay Apple?
Any information will be appreciated.

Hello, I am trying to upgrade an iMac to Mavericks. At the end of the download phase, a message pops up that says
"OS 10.9 has not yet been approved for software upgrade. Thanks! - SWN IT"
The download stops, and I cannot resume. Made several attempts to start the process of downloading again and receive the same message/error.
I am not familiar with any software that has the intials SWN or have SWN in the title.
Does this error look familiar to anyone?
Any clues as to how to find out the what application could be sending this message would be greatly apprciated.

Is this on a Mac that belongs to a company or did you buy it used?

Trying to upgrade to FireFox 4 and getting this error: The operation can't be completed because the item "libsoftokn3.dylib" is in use.

I am using a new MacBook Pro. I click on the "Download FireFox 4.0" button. The file(s) download and the dialog appears to drag FireFox icon into the Applications folder.
I get a dialog that says "There is a previous version.. Ok to replace?" I click "Replace".
Then I get a Copy dialog that says: "The operation can’t be completed because the item “libsoftokn3.dylib” is in use."
The software is not updated and I am still on FireFox 3. I tried rebooting and doing it again - I get the same results. I also did a web search and was not able to find a solution to this error.

I had success by:
1- Quit Firefox
2- Go to the Applications folder and drag Firefox to the desktop
3- Install Firefox 5 (it installs successfully at this point)
4- Put old Firefox in the trash
5- Secure empty trash
It may be possible to just drag Firefox directly to the trash and use regular Empty Trash, but I did not try that. Some people on the net reported that they could not empty the trash after putting the old Firefox in the trash (got the same "libsoftokn3.dylib is in use" error), so I just tried Secure Empty Trash, which may be no different from a regular empty trash as far as this goes; not sure as I'm a bit new to the Mac.

Like I said above, I am trying to update to iOS5 but I have a problem.
When I try to update it says that it is backing up. But after about 5 minutes I get a 0xE8000067 error. I found someone saying to transfer purchases and if there is one app that keeps trying to transfer but doesn't, to just delete it. But that's the problem. There is an app that keeps trying to transfer, but the problem is... I deleted that app. So it is trying to transfer an app that no longer exists. I tried redownloading it and everything but it still fails.
I really, REALLY don't want to continue with it and lose everything on it so I would extremely like some advice.

Tried to upgrade to iOS 5 and keep getting error message 1611.

I plug in my iPad and try to upgrade to the new iOS 5 and it restored the iPad and now I'm getting error message 1611 and it won't even let me use my iPad right now, it's stuck at the start screen with the sync cord and iTunes logo... HELP...

I had a similar problem -- but found a simple fixe here.
All I had to do was move my USB cable from a port on the side of my computer monitor to a port on the computer itself.
Easy!
Funny thing is, the original setup worked fine when I upgraded my iPhone 4 earlier in the afternoon, and I've synched my iPad 2 using it hundreds of times. But it wouldn't do the upgrade for the iPad.
Hopefully it will work for you too, and others that may read this thread.

I have Reader 9.5 . trying to upgrade to 11.0 and keep getting error message "Adobe boot strapper for single installation has encountered a problem & needs to close. Sorry for the inconvenience." What does this mean and how do I fix?

I'd try getting and running the full installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/. If that doesn't clear it up the run the cleaner tool at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html Then try the installer again.

Error Message of disk not formatted when trying to upgrade to Lion

I am trying to upgrade to Lion and have received an error message stating "The disk in not formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Use disk utility to enable.
What exactly am I supposed to do in Disk Utility?
I opened it up and I wasn't sure if I am supposed to reformat? Repair? Partition? Am I supposed to be reformatting as an Extended Mac OS?
How exactly do I do that?
Basically has anyone encountered this and what steps are needed to continue from this point?

Open Disk Utility.
Select the volume to enable or disable journaling on.
To enable, click the Enable Journaling button or choose Enable Journaling from the File menu.

Internal error (-43) when trying to upgrade to 8.81.319 SP0 PL10

I am trying to upgrade from 8.81.313 PL05 to 8.81.319 PL10. After the database upgrade check completes and the upgrade begins it immediately fails when trying to upgrade the server tools and states Internal error (-43).
Please let me know what is wrong. I am logged in as Administrator and running the upgrade on the SQL 2008 server.

Upgrading Solman from SP 17 to EHP1 errors with the Kernel install

I've been trying to upgrade solman to EHP1 but I get errors when I try to install Kernel 7.01. After I have copied the kernel to \SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64 I can start SAP and for a while it works. Then SAP stops working and both services stop. I've tried to restart the services but I get and error telling me its the wrong product version and to re-install the software. Its a 64bit unicode kernel on windows 2003 64bit and I have the right kernel. Any ideas anyone?

I am having the same issues. when upgrading via JSPM or manually, the sap services won't start and keep saying the version is incompatable, and suggested to reinstall.
Did you manage to get around it?

Just tried to upgrade to SnowLeopard with new software. iLife failed to download and now the computer will not start up--grey screen with lines going round and round in a circle. What can I do to get it to start up?

This is a brand new machine that I just purchased from Apple. It was delivered yesterday
The old computer is an old PowerMac G5, but my OS X install disc is a retail version of 10.5.
I also tried the OS X 10.5 install disc that came with my MacBook Pro (2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Dual).
Same issue - nothing but a grey screen when the system tries to boot from the DVD

Upgrading iLife from 04 to 08 and want Templates from the older versions

I am upgrading Ilife 04 to 08. I want to make sure that I first keep all of the templates from the previous versions including the ones between 04 and 08. Are all old templates included with 08? If not how can I get them? i only have a disc copy of 04 and 08. 03 and older were already on my system.

The old iDVD templates are included as an option in the iLife '08 install. After you accept the EULA at the beginning of the installation, choose to Customise your install. Tick the box for the earlier themes under the iDVD dropdown.
