Trying to upgrade Iphone 4 from IOS 4.3.3 to IOS 6

Im trying to upgrade the IOS from 4.3.3 to 6. When I plug the phone into Itunes and click on upgrade, the process just kinda of freezes when the phone is being backed up. I can back up the phone no problem without doing the IOS upgrade. I do have the latest version of itunes. Any suggestions? Is there another way to download IOS6?

No. You can only update to the current version. As of this writing, that's 7.0.4. You can no longer install iOS 6

I have an iPhone 4 and when I plugged it in, iTunes notified me that iOS 4.3.2 was available. I clicked on the "Download and Upgrade" button and then from the iPhone Software Update dialog clicked on the "Next" button and then the "Agree" button. At this point, iTunes crashes.
My MBP is up to date as far as software updates.
My iPad upgraded to 4.3.2 fine. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

Trying to update iphone 4 from ios 4 to ios 6! whys it saying its going to take so long?

so im trying to update from ios4 to the latest software update. the phone used to be my dads but now he gave it to me so i reset the entire phone so there's nothing in it at all. like brand new. i know you cant do it on the air so im doing it through itunes. i clicked on the option that said download and update so it happens straight away however it says "iphone software update (17hours remaining)" and its been going on for previously at least an hour. this is ridiculous. is it meant to take that long because im updating from ios4 to ios 6 and missed out ios5?

just like to correct: im on iOS 4.3.1
also additional info:
- secondly i have restarted my phone and restarted itunes many times & i have the latest version of itunes
- restarted everything again. i synced my phone for the fun of syncing hoping that might help although i didnt have anything to sync but anyway now its reduced the time & said "8hours remaining" but in the space of 10minutes went up to "11hours remaining" seriously? please help .

SSince Apple does not support downgrading the iOS I suggest you start a new question that gives a good title to a specific problem. Then in the body of the thread describe the problem in detail, tell us what steps you have tried so far to correct the problem, what happened, and what error messages you received.

Not a great analogy, but this is a user-to-user forum, and Apple will not allow discussion of jailbreaking; if someone tried to help with jailbreaking the message would be deleted. However, if you have a jailbroken phone Apple will generally not block a discussion of how to unjailbreak it. Thank you. I ended up performing the Restore after I did an Update, and performing the restore solved the problem----I now have a functioning iPhone with all of my data, pics, and apps on it. Fortunately I made sure that I backed up my iPhone before I tried to update to iOS6. Man, what a headache though, and it sounds like I had it easy compared to some other horror stories I've read. I won't update my iOS on my iPhone again; i've learned my lesson. It remains to be seen whether iOS6 will be worth it :-)

When I try to do this using iTunes on my MacBook Pro (OS X v 10.5.8), with my iPhone in its cradle, clicking the "Update" button in Tunes gets a message saying "This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version." I can't get the iOS update to download.
When I try to update to the iPhone directly, I get a message saying "iOS 6.0.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet" at the Verifying Update step. I noticed that this message refers to iOS 6.0.1, even though I want to update to 6.1. It is possible that, a few weeks ago, I may have downloaded but not installed v 6.0.1.

I tried powering down and re-starting the iPhone (as suggested at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275). This seems to have cleared the "...not connected to the Internet" problem, and iOS 6.1 is now in the process of downloading.

Go to settings do a reset after that tou will need to enter you Router wireless key Then wait for iPhone to come on. This worked for me on iPhone & ipad. Bsydd uk
