Trying to upgrade Quickbooks in OS 9 to OS X 10.4.3

does anyone know if i do this upgrade, will i lose my quickbooks? should i back it up?

Hi, Milton, and welcome to Apple Discussions. Yes: you should absolutely, positively back up your Quickbooks data — right away, without any regard to whether or not you do anything else. Every iota of important, irreplaceable information that is stored on your computer should be backed up — at all times.

    have you read the message in the panel? Something is wrong with your credit card. Perhaps you have to enter a new date of expiration.
    In the small print it says, there is still a purchase, that needs paying,"Ugly Heart" with an amount of R 9.99. And "We were unable to authorise your credit card for this purchase".  You will first have to update your Billing Information before you can proceed to make a new purchase for upgraded storage.  Click "Account Details" in the iCloud panel.

    If you cannot fix the account from the iCloud panel, open iTunes and sign into the "Store" menu, Then use the "Store > View account" item there to check for problems with your Billing Information.

    Without contract is not the same as unlocked. The update to iOS 7 relocked
    the iPhone to the wireless carrier to which it was originally locked. You must
    contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
    If you used jailbreak or other hack to unlock the iPhone initially, the method
    used may prevent a legitimate unlock from succeeding and may render your
    iPhone unuseable.

    I am trying to upgrade my iPhone via my macbook but the following message keeps coming up and the download does not work
    "There are purchased items on the iPhone “Mark Price’s iPhone” that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this"
    Please advise how I can transfer these files, I am not sure what files are in question.
    I've only had the MacBook a couple of days, I am PC savvy but this is all new to me so please keep it as simple as possible. I am a brit based in Bahrain.

    okay I've done everything regarding the transfer process (via file>transfer purchases) and syncing, so everything on my iPhone device seems to have been transferred to my iMac... however, I still get that message ("There are purchased items on the iPhone..."), trying to upgrade the iOS Have tried several times the same process of hitting transfer purchases via file, but nothing seems to make that message go away! Would have been nice to know which files I actually do need to transfer, which I don't get any info on of course...
    Starting to get really annoying this thing.. Any smart suggestions what's going on?

    I am trying to upgrade iPhoto 9.4.2 to 9.4.3 on a Mac Mini with Mountain Lion.  When I run the iPhoto9.4.3Update.dmg file, I get the alert:
    The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store.  Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available.
    When I close the alert, it shuts down the update. 
    Since at our location our only option to get on the internet is via a 3G modem with a data cap of 5 GB per month, we take a laptop into the local library, hop on their wifi, and download dmg files for large upgrades like iPhoto (in this case, 766 MB).  This has always worked before - what is different here?
    Since we were near the end of our data month and still had a GB left, I then tried the software update route from the Apple menu on the Mac mini.  It started downloading the 9.4.3 update which was only 177 MB.  2 hours later it had just finished the download and suddenly continued onto another download (still in the iPhoto upgrade) of a 1.2 GB file.  So I aborted.  So my 2nd question is what was happening here.
    And my 3rd question is what to do next?

    Evidently there was more than one update listed for your Mini.  Next time launch the App Store app in your Applications folder and log in with the Apple ID used to purchase your Mini. Click on the Updates folder and look for available updates.  There you can select one at a time for installation.
    Look in the Download folder in your Home folder to see if the 9.4.3 update is there.

    yes, that app engine didnt inserted any rows. So now when i tried to drill down i found that there was no data in the "new demo" database on table UPG_DATACONV. That is the reason for all this.
    When i applied required for upgrade patch in demo it said couple of patch already exists so those update i skipped. Now when i check upd877654 has a step which imports the data in this table. my change assistant told that the update is already available in my demo so i skipped. Now i am not sure what to do.
    I tried reimporting the data and running the analyzer again. But worried that there can be any issues due to this.

    Install more RAM in the computer; the Mac needs to have at least 2GB of RAM and should have 4GB or more first.

  • I get a disk error when trying to upgrade to mountain lion on my mac book pro that also runs bootcamp

    I recently tried to upgrade my macbook pro OSX to mountain lion via the app store. When it tried to install it gives me a disk error. I have run disk utilities and repaired, verified etc. but it makes no difference. I am running bootcamp as well and have tried to modifiy the partition sizes in disk utilities, but it says for both that they cannot be modified. I can switch my startup disk and reboot in windows, no problem, so getting my files off isnt the issue. I have also tried to recover the hard disk using time machine which i was lucky enough to backup the day before it all went wrong. However, time machine runs fine until it asks me which disk to recover and it gives me an option of the time machine disk or bootcamp, but no option for my mac partition. So, I have tried everything that makes snese, but getting errors with disks lock, cant repartition, disk error needs repair (which i know is not true, its only because of the Mountain Lion OSX that its messed up). Any ideas?

    You have some other problem with your boot drive that has corrupted data backed up to the TimeMacine drive.
    My advice is to boot into each operating system and manually backup just your Users files each to separate regular external drives (no Timemachine or backup software) and disconnect.
    Make a note of any serial numbers, emails, address book contacts, export bookmarks etc. that isn't typically in your users folders data.
    You might be able to Winclone 3 the Windows as a whole thing as it's appearing not to have issues but it's your MacintoshHD partition that is so that will have to be rebuilt from scratch.
    Most commonly used backup methods
    If your OS X parititon doesn't boot, you can use this to recover files.
    Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
    Without any further detail about your machine I can't advise specifically what to do, but it involves using Disk Utility to Zero Erase (move slider one spot to the right or in 10.6 using Security Option) the ENTIRE boot drive and reformatting, then installing OSX fresh and then setting up BootCamp again.
    If you wish to switch your boot drive for something better, this is a good time to do this.
    Install/upgrade RAM or storage drive in Mac's
    If your machine is capable of Internet Recovery, then use that, then upgrade.
    If your machine came with 10.6 or earlier, then use the 10.6 install disks and work up from there.

    ME : I was sat watching late on Friday night (around 1:00am Saturday morning actually) when my box decided an update is in order. I was patient, I waited and the client was downloaded and seemed to install.
      DS : So did you see a green screen, followed by the boot screen?
         ME : Hard to recall now but I think picture dissappared and the pale blue starting screen appeared followed by 'please wait'. Then it went to the client download screen. I don't remember any green screen.
      ME : Only problem is that I now just get a black screen.
      DS : I did have to wait for 15 mins after one of the updates, after the above screens, before our black screen vanished. how long are you waiting?
        ME : I've left it over night, around 8hrs.
    ME : Try a factory reset and it tries to update but still a black screen.
      DS : As above
    ME : Called the help desk and they escalated it to their technical people but said it was a known issue and they were trying to correct it. It will be fixed by November. OK I thought a couple of days and it's November but wait, on pressing them it seems that November means the second week of November.
      DS : They are getting confused by the sounds of it. A random reboot issue is probably what they are talking about
      You sometimes have to explain it as if you were talking to a child to get your problem understood
        ME : Yeah, I noticed  I did get the impression that they didn't really understand but no matter how much I tried to explain and dumb down I don't think they were really listening and I just got the same answer back. Gave up in the end.
    ME : Called them again and the best advice seemed to be to plug it into a different power socket!
      DS : What, the box or any powerline adapters (PLA's), if you use these?
    The box can be plugged in to any mains socket, though PLA's can sometimes lose the connection between themselves, thus the box loses it's connection to the bt vision server(s).
        ME : They were talking about the box. I played along and did as they asked ... their next question was 'is the blue light on' ... yes my box has power!
    There are no PLA's involved, I have an ethernet cable direct to the hub.
    When it attempts the upgrade the progress bar partially fills, the ring light on the box turns yellow and it starts the download. After several minutes the bar fills apart from a tiny sliver at the end and it says 'Download of client successful. Upgrading'. The power light flashes off briefly then back on and then I see just a black screen. There is no aparent reboot at this stage and the screen remains black overnight as I mentioned.
    If after leaving it I then disconnect the power and boot up again it cycles through 3 boot attempts and then tries an upgrade again. Something of a circular problem!

    Well it does sound like the update worked, though you should of seen a green screen, even if it was brief. The green screen indicates that the box is accesing the hard drive. The more content saved on the box, the longer this screen wil appear.

    It sounds like maybe 8.0.1 has downloaded onto your phone but not installed. You can check for it in Settings > General > Usage > Storage, Manage Storage. If it's there you should see it at the top of the list of apps. Swipe to delete it. 8.0.1 was pulled by Apple quickly after it was introduced due to issues and replaced by 8.0.2. Once it's deleted you should be able to download and install 8.0.2.
