Trying to upload a file to an ftp folder

Hello,
I am a recent convert to OS X from the Windows world and am trying to save a file on the ftp site for my work. I used the finder to connect to the FTP site, but I got an error saying that I couldn't change the file, when I tried to drop and drag.
Any help would be appreciated!
iMac (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hi again,
I've had some success with using Firefox, just make sure your using the right ftp address, try different ways of entering address, if you do, a dialog box will ask for your username and password or maybe just the pasword, I am assuming you haven't gotten this far...
If you have no luck connecting to your site via browser try Captain FTP, free to download and try, but disabled after 15days or so, unless you buy it ($25 USD) *make sure you download right version for your OS*... I use it on the Mac and use WSFTP on the PC, almost the same. If you've never used an FTP app, it will take a little homework on your part, but just a little... hope this helps, good luck, Rick
BTW - I have Firefox Version 1.5.0.2

I am trying to upload a file to an accounting website for work. My computer will not allow me to select any type of file, they are all greyed out.

Try using a different browser. If it works, then the problem is most likely Safari. If the other browser doesn't work, perhaps it is the web site.

  • I tried to upload a file and convert it to pdf but it came back saying it exceeds 100 MB. I bought the pack for that reason. What am I supposed to do?

Yesterday I subscibed in Adobe pdf pack for a year. After I payed and signed in, I tried to upload a file but it came back saying it exceeds 100 MB. What am I supposed to do? By bying the product, I was under the impression I was going to install the program in my computer, but it turned out it's online!

    Hi Thalia,
Thanks for posting your question in the forums. There is a 100MB file-size limit for uploading files to the Adobe PDF Pack online service. If you find that PDF Pack isn't going to work for you, you are welcome to cancel your subscription (and since it's within 30 days of purchase, you're entitled to a full refund).
You might consider an Acrobat subscription (which is software that you download and install). You would be able to create PDFs locally, without having to upload your files, so you can avoid and file-size limitations. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html. (You can try it for 30 days for free.)
    Best,
    Sara

  • Delete file from an FTP folder

    Hi expert,
I wanna know if it's possible delete with abap command a file from a FTP folder.
I mean, there is a ftp folder periodically filled with excel files. An ABAP program read this folder and the files content must be moved in a SAP Table. Aftre this, I must delete excel files with an abap command write in the same abap program.
    Thanks a lot
    Michele Garofalo

    1) read directory with fm EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING
    2) process table dir_list
and 3) finally delete files with
    abap command:  DELETE DATASET dsn.
    hope that helps

  • Firfox is ceashing when I attepmt to download a file. Everything works until I close Firfox and then attempt to re-open the browser then it crashes. I tried deleting the download file in my profile folder but it didn't work.

Firefox is crashing when I attempt to download a file. Everything works until I close Firefox and then attempt to re-open the browser then it crashes. I tried deleting the download file in my profile folder but it didn't work.

Downgrade to an older nightly that works for a week or so, then test again to see if the bug's still there. In the mean time, report the bug on Bugzilla if it hasn't already been. There's really nothing you can do about bugs in nightlies.
(A similar sort of bug that triggered 60 seconds after opening, every time, was what got me out of using nightlies as my main browser.)

  • Firefox crashes when uploading/downloading files from/to 'desktop folder'

    Hello
I'm hoping, that you can help me!
I'm using Firefox 28.0 on MacBook Pro Mavericks 10.9.2
Firefox crashes/freezes when I try to upload/download files from/to my 'desktop folder'.
I't only happens, when I use this folder. Download to 'download folder' or any other folder works fine.
Download to 'desktop folder' when using Safari also works fine.
I't only happens when desktop and firefox tries to communicate.
It's very annoying when I accidentally forget, that the bugs is there, and I have to force quit and start all over again. And sometimes I don't even have a choice, because 'desktop' randomly opens as default folder, when I try to upload things.
Thank you so much in advance!
    Kind regards Elizabeth

    Hi ESwan,
I am not a Mac user so not the best person to attempt to assist but here goes.
I am presuming that info such as
PID: 1695 Event: cpu usage (microstackshots only)
Relate to the Mac OS X crash & event logging and reporting.
What we need are the ones that Firefox itself generates and submits for processing by Mozilla Firefox
    * See [[Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash]]'''#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash'''
From what you say the crashes occur after a certain action and I am hoping that you will be able to use the easy method as in the article linked above. Navigate to about:crashes by keying ''about:crashes'' into the address bar. You are loolking for the ones starting wth ''bp-'' Paste two or three of those into your next post. Include the bp- part but not any link information before that. After they are pasted into the forum the forum software changed them to be links.

  • Beach Ball of Death on OSX while trying to upload large files(updated)

    Hi,
I did a search on this and while I got lots of hits none on this issue.
We have a web portal that allows customers to upload files to a DAM server, we have control server.
The issue is not the back end, the back end is php and all set up correctly, we have 2gb ram assigned to php, the upload_max_filesize is set to 1.8gb max post size is set accordingly.
The flex app loads, user selects large file say 1.6gb ( we do file size check to make sure its below the limit), click upload button, beach ball of death shows, a little while later the file uploads.
Great so far, now the user tries another files same size, beach ball of death, script times out (we capture this and end gracefully). If the user restarts safari then the file will upload just fine.
Seems you can upload a large file first time and small files subsequently below 1.2gb, but you can not upload multiple large files.
Seems some sort of memory leak, I was looking at converting this upload app to send files via ftp, but if the flash player needs to process/load the files first then I don't think this will work looking to increase the file size ceiling to 4gb via ftp.
Code is a bit involved but in the end just calls file reference upload, then beach ball appears
Any ideas? player version 10.0.32.18 debug
    UPDATED 09_17_09
It appears to be a memory leak in the player when in safari, the file is read but the memory not freed up after completion. Firefox frees the used memory after upload and you can continue. Not sure if Apple or Adobe issue.
However why bother reading the file first? can we have an HTP stream file upload in the web flash player like AIR as. This way the player would not care on the file size and the limitation would reside on the server, which we can deal with.

Developing for iphone can be amazingly complicated and frustrating.  (even before you start coding).  The process of having to create a Certificate, to approving the Certificate, to Assigning the deviceIDs to the certificate, to creating the AppIDs, to creating the provisioning profiles and then creating the .p12 file... is just too tedious.
I solved the problem of the "Entitlements are not valid".   The AppID i had set in the iPhone Developer Portal did not match that of the AppID i had set in the Adobe Flash CS5 -> Publish Settings.  (ie. com.yourdomainname.yourappname).  After I re-entered my AppID and compile, i was able to sync the .ipa file into my ipad.
I wish the error message had been a little more descriptive.  Could have saved me a whole day.
I hope this helps others.  But my guess is, if you don't set the 40 character device ID correctly, or the email in the signingcertificate correctly, you'll get this same generic error message.

  • PI is not able to pick the file from the FTP folder

This is the FILE TO IDOC scenario. We have configured the file adapter. But its not able to pick the file from the specified directory. We have tried changing the transfer mode from Binary to Txt & also we have tried to put advance selection for source file but it didn't work. Its throwing the below error:

Also we have contacted the FTP team & they told that PI is sending an unsupported command. So instead of taking the file TLOG.txt, its treating this file name a s a directory. Please find the logs from FTP end below:

It should list  *TLOG.txt*  but instead it is trying to get into a directory named  *TLOG.txt*.  same for other interface.
So me & my team is struggling for last couple of days to fix this issue. Please share your suggestion

    Hi Sisir
The screen shot of your config doesn't seem to correspond to the FTP log. I say this because the * is dropped from file name pattern "*TLOG.txt" (comparing your config and the FTP log). Can you share an updated FTP log?

Also, like Rajesh suggested, have you tried to manually check permissions by logging in, traversing the directory, and getting the file?
By the way, we always use backslash \ instead of forward slash in our configs. Not sure this would make any difference for you though. Also, I don't normally use a trailing \ at the end of the source directory path.

  • Using ftp to upload a file to Content Database

    Hi Experts,
I am looking to upload the file to the Content DB using FTP.
Can any one let me know if there is any API for doing this and also if there any way to upload the attributes(META data) after uploading the file using FTP.
I have a tried already uploading the file using web services API now looking for FTP Upload.
    Thanks
    Ahamed

A quick search at google reveals there are plenty of FTP libraries available for the various mainstream programming languages (Java, C, C++ etc).
However, FTP has a very basic command set. (MKDIR, GET, PUT, DEL etc).
So you are not going to be able to perform more advanced document management tasks (such as lock a document, check-in, check-out, modify metadata, modify security, search, sort etc) through standard FTP commands.
In terms of setting metadata through FTP, you could potentially store the various processing instructions required in some type of XML file (or equivalent) and upload this XML file to the repository. A custom event handler could be created that listens for DOCUMENT_CREATED events, and then attempts to process the XML files and perform the various instructions contained within by calling the appropriate in-process Content DB FDK API.
    It's ugly, but possible.
    cheers
    Matt.
