Trying to use a Dell printer
I have a MacBook Pro and my printer is a Dell AIO 942. I'm trying to avoid buying a new printer, and didn't realize Dell doesn't support Mac. I have read several forums and have read that my printer is basically a Lexmark p6250. I downloaded the drivers and plugged in the printer, but the Mac doesn't recognize that the printer is plugged in. Any idea why? Any other suggestions?

Apparently Dell (in their infinite, soon-to-be-bankrupt, wisdom) decided to use proprietary software for printing. Of course, this proprietary software relies on Windows. They also didn't write Mac drivers.
The good news is that printers are cheap (you can find them for less than it would cost to put ink in that Dell, probably) and if you buy something like a Canon or Epson it will probably be much better quality than the Dell.
I have a friend that purchases a new printer (Lexmark) every time the ink runs out because it is cheaper to buy a new printer (which comes full of ink) than fill the old one with ink. Not saying I agree with it, but printers are cheap.

Trying to set up Dell printer on Mac Mini
so i have a dell 720 inkjet printer i got free from a friend and i want to use it on my mac mini. When i try to add it to my list of printers it says it cant find the driver. So i went to the dell website and tried to download the driver but they only had drivers for windows. is there anyway to download the driver or get this dell laptop to work on my mac? please help, i am a student and need to get this set up fast! thanks!
Sorry, Dell does not support their inkjet printers on Macs. I do not think there are any third party drivers, either.

How to use a Dell Printer (with USB)
I have a dell all-in-one printer 964 that I would like to use (via USB) with my Macbook Pro. When I try to use it, it's looking for a driver and forcing me to choose one. Dell is not in the list. I can download the driver from dell, but it's an .exe file.
What can I do to get these 2 to work together? Anything?

The dirty little secret about Dell's printers is they're all actually Lexmarks in different cases. You might, then, be able to get a Lexmark driver to recognize your Dell as one of its own. Unfortunately, the Lexmark that the 964 is apparently derived from, the x8350, does not offer Mac drivers.
However, you may be able to use one of the two following drivers:
For the Lexmark X9350

No guarantees, but those drivers may help.

Getting spool error when trying to use a network printer from a remote computer.
I have 2 HP deskjet printers attached to my computer. One is a D4260 and the 2nd is an F4280 all in one. I would like both of these printers to be available on our wireless network so that my girlfriend can use the printers from her laptop. The D4260 is working just fine but when I try to print to the all in one it looks as if it printed on her computer but I get a spooling error on mine and no printing.
Go to hp.com.au, top right corner select support & drivers
select software & driver download type in your printer name HP Deskjet F4280
then select your operating system-step 1
on step 2 select utility diagnostic tools,select HP Print Diagnostic Utility
run the software, select your printer, then diagnose...then select fix all
this software automatically detects spooler errors & fix them
just follow the instructions from the HP Print Diagnostic Utility

Trying to use bluetooth to print from my computer through another laptop
My Mac Pro doesn't have airport (long story there) and the printer is connected to the airport base thingy. We have a laptop that is connected to the airport, and prints. The other day I accidentally set something to print from the Mac Pro and to my great surprise it printed! I thought it must be b/c it is paired with the laptop via Bluetooth. But today I can't print and when I open the Bluetooth drop down menu it says that the computers are not connected. Can't seem to get them to connect - how do I do this?

I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to import content over homesharing from a computer you no longer have, you are out of luck. If you are just trying to redownload purchased content, you don't need homesharing. -

Unfortunately the j610a does not have ePrint or AirPrint capabilities. You will be unable to print to this printer from your iPad for the time being. We are coming out with an app called HP ePrint Home and Biz soon that will allow you to print from your iPad in a limited capacity but if you want the full functionality of AirPrint you would need an ePrint enabled printer.

How to use Applescript to print out a certain calendar at 7am every morning?

I am trying to use AppleScript to print out one of my calendars each day at 7am every morning.
I have come up with this so far:

The problem with this is that it will print out whatever calendars are currently viewable. I can't figure out how to tell it to deselect other calendars and just select the one I want. I also want to tell it to print this out at 7am every morning.

Want to use dell printer on imac
I have an A920 all in one Dell printer which I love and now have switched to mac. I just bought a new imac and am trying to add the printer but Dell is not listed as a printer and of course their website only has drivers for windows. What can I do? I dont want to get a new printer and I am not comfortable enough yet to get the boot camp or other software to run windows to use it.

I am trying to add a wireless printer to my MacBook Pro. It was working properly until we had to get a new modem. I have gone through the steps with the printer customer service rep, and it was working properly for one day. When I booted up the next morning, the printer was no longer "connected". It will work if I have the printer and computer connected, but I much prefer the wireless capability. Suggestions? The printer is a Brother MFC7860DW. The other laptop in the house (Dell) can print wirelessly so I don't think it's an issue with the modem or the printer.

I have a mac os x 10.7.3 and am trying to install a dell v515w printer. Have tried numerous times to find driver, but mac says not compatible. I read something about using a Lexmark driver. Any suggestions???

My computer is saying it can't find the file 'iTunes64.msi' when I try to update or redownload iTunes how do I fix this? I've tried just about everything I can think of. I am using a dell laptop running windows 7 and have tried changing the file location to run the update in all of my iTunes files as well as when I've tried reinstalling it.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I am trying to transfer older files from a Mac PowerBook G4, running system 9, printing those documents as pdf, using Acrobat 4. Then those pdf documents will transfer to my newer MacBook Air, running OSX 10, allowing me to store and use them. My problem is that Acrobat 4 no longer seems to work on the old Mac, and I don't know how to fix it. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Is it possible to use an older model Dell printer (wired) with a HP wireless laptop?
I am using an HP Pavillion laptop computer with Windows 7 at home. I am connected to a wireless printer (Canon 3 in 1). I have to leave town & go to my aunt's house in another city. She has no computer setup at her house, but we have wireless router there so I can use my laptop.
Can I take my old Dell printer (which I used when I had a desktop), plug it into my laptop (I assume I'll have to also install printer) & use it there (without it being wireless, etc.?). The ink should still be viable but it has been several months since I've used it. I need to know if it would be worthwhile to take my old printer with me & be able to set it up & use it. If so, is it possible to use a laptop (I use wireless at my aunt's house) with a hard-wired printer? And would it be hard to set up?
Bottom line is, I'm selling stuff on Ebay this week, I have to make an emergency trip to help family, & will probably have to lug items (and print out shipping labels) while I'm there. I thought it might be useful to have in the long run a printer (albeit an older model) that I can use while helping out family in another city.
I'm sure I'm leaving out some info but if you think you need more to answer my question, let me know.... thank you in advance.

View Solution.If I read this right, you can install your wired printer right now and test it out. Then go on your trip and just plug in back into your computer and it will work just fine.

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?
Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
