I cannot view my photos on apple tv after I did the steps - iTunes | File | Home Sharing | Choose photos to share, and select the appropriate folder, then click the "Apply" button.

No you should not continue to use iPhoto. You can't have an iPhoto Library on an NAS. The disk format is wrong and iPhoto is not designed for network access. End of story.
Neither should you use iPhoto in Referenced mode with the Photos on a NAS as that's just storing up problems.

That said, iPhoto is due to be replaced soon - in the coming months - by a new App, and this may not have that issue. For instance, there are no such reservations bout running referenced Aperture library - so who knows what may come with the new (that also replaces aperture.)
So, you might want to hold on making any big decisions until you see the options. Why? Because what you're describing as a workflow is moving to an entirely different kind of workflow. You're going from non-destructive with iPhoto, to lossy and destructive in your suggested replacement. Is that what you want?
What you export from iPhoto really depends on what you want: the original unedited image? Or a version of the edited one? What's for sure is the one thing you don't want is to export as Current - that's just a preview and missing loads of metadata.

Why can't I view my photos on Apple TV?
I am set up to stream photos from iPhoto to my Apple TV. When I go to the Photos area, I see a thumbnail "preview" of my photo, but when I try to go to an album and view the photos, I get an error that says "Apple TV cannot play the current song".

Photos can of course be streamed from a streaming only (or secondary library).
Your issue sounds unusual and clearly there is something wrong. Can you see any of your photos. Do you have music selected to play with the photos that may be causing an issue. Have you tried restarting your tv. -

You can only view photo stream photos on an iOS device or computer that is signed into your iCloud account with photo stream enabled. This requires Windows 7 or 8 if you have a PC, or OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher if you have a Mac. If you do, you can set this up as explained here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html. Note: you will only be able to access photo stream photos from the last 30 days; older photo stream photos are no longer in iCloud.
If you backed up your phone, your camera roll photos are included in the backup. Restoring the backup to a replacement iPhone should recover them. Note: be sure to do this soon as Apple removes backups for devices that have not been backed up for 180 days. -
I set up a new Apple TV yesterday and the iCloud Photos worked fine and I could see all my photos. Today it keeps asking me to agree to the terms and conditions, which I do, but it then comes up with the 'connecting' screen and then reverts straight back to the terms and conditions, this keeps happening time and time again. I have tried resetting the Apple TV but that has made absolutely no difference.

We have iPhotos in a shared folder so both my pertner and I can access the pictures.
Recently, when my partner tries to open some of the more recent pictures, they open briefly, then disappear. This doesn't happen with all of them, and there doesn't seem to be any link between those that do, and those that don't.
When I try to open them, they open with no problem, and remain open until I close them.
Has anyone any solutions, please?
Thanks.A shared folder is not sufficient to share an iPhoto library. When you open the library from your account, the ownership and permissions of library items changes.
The safest way to share a library is to put it onto a separate disk or disk partition with the "Ignore Ownership on this volume" flag set. See this document on how to achieve this:

Open iPhoto > About iPhoto and type the version. If it's 8, you have to buy '11 in App Store, if it's 9, open > Software Update

I have tried to renew my icloud subscription on my iphone. I have been unsuccessful after several attempts. The last time the reason give was that the security code of my credit card is incorrect. It is the number. Can you help?

Help changing to new Apple ID can't get rid of old one
Hi jackburkholder,
You will need to delete the iCloud account with your old ID, but before you can do that, you will have to go back into Manage Your Apple ID, and change your Apple ID back to the old address. Don't worry about verifying it, you just need to change it.
Then, go into Settings>iCloud and turn off Find My iPhone (it will ask you for a password - put in your current one to turn it off). Then, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and Delete the iCloud account using your current password.
Also go into Settings>iTunes & App Store, clidk on your old ID and sign out of iTunes.
Then go back to Manage Your Apple ID and put your new Apple ID back in.
Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your new Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID.
Go back into Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign on with your new Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID.

This is the third iPod classic this has happened to, so it's not a fluke.
I upoaded a video podcast from iTunes. The video name, etc. displayed properly in the iPod, but when I tried to open it, the iPod crashed and now just continuously reboots. My iMac does not recognize the iPod anymore.

iPhone, iPad or iPod touch: Your photos will appear in the My Photo Stream album in the Photos app. If you're using iOS, you can find your photos by tapping the Photo Stream tab, then tapping the My Photo Stream album. In iOS 5, your photos are in the Photo Stream album.

ICloud Photo Library - a really poor support experience (and still unresolved)
I am using (or should I say trying to use) iCloud photo library on iOS 8.1.2 and on an iPhone 5S with 32Gb memory. I bought 200 Gb of Cloud storage too so was ready to go with about 12 Gb of photos.
It was about 3 weeks ago when I turned it on and was initially hopeful, as the number of photos left to sync gradually decreased on my device (there are about 4000 to do). I could see they were coming up at iCloud.com and all looked good for the first 600 or so. And then it "stalled" for the first time and nothing seemed to help - reboot, airplane mode on/off. Occasionally it might do a couple more but then it would just stop.
So, I logged out of iCloud on my device and logged back in again. A long pause whilst everything resyncs and then the photo resync begins again... from the start... 4000 to go. It got further this time, to 800 and every now and then it would process a few more. I left it a week and a half to see what it would do but eventually sure enough it stalls again.
My first chat session with Apple support and the engineer suggests resetting the network settings... nothing.
So the a second chat session with Apple support and the engineer suggests logging out of iCloud on the device and turning it on again. I'm reluctant to go the start of the process again, but I do and overnight I'm rewarded by getting to about 1200 photos this time. And then it stops, so I reset the network settings. A few more and it stops again. By now, I'm pulling my hair out.
So another long chat session and after repeating all of the above an escalation is requested to a senior engineer. A call back is made to me and after a wait of 15 mins on the phone (Apple called me!) the senior engineer begins to lecture me on what beta software is (I know, it's software pre-full release with a few minor issues left to resolve). I politely ask what the next steps might be and the engineer explains to me that I should have no realistic expectations that it should actually work. Her experience is such that uploads may not register with iCloud, downloads may not register with my device and that I may LOSE photos! When I protest, again politely, that this might not be acceptable she hangs up.
The chat engineer who is waiting for my call promises to complain on my behalf to the management and offers a call rescheduled for later which I take up. That was 30 mins ago.
The call comes, I wait 15 mins in the queue again (it tells you a 2 min wait!!!) and then guess what, the call hangs up again.
So here what I am left with. A sync that has now taken 3 weeks and ultimately is no more than a quarter complete. No confidence in the sync process or any idea of what might be causing my connection to fail. 4 hours wasted this weekend with Apple support. The rudeness of staff hanging up on my calls and lecturing me on the merits of beta software. £3 a month paid for storage that I cannot fill.
I can only conclude that the iPhone photo cloud library is not ready and the support staff feel unable to offer any support on next steps. "Beta" or not, you really have to ask if this is good enough.

If you're ready to call back with a genuine bid to help and an acknowledgement of the problem please feel free. This is a user-to-user support forum, not a way to communicate with Apple regarding a support call or issue. (Just trying to save you some more frustration when you don't get a response to this post from Apple).
As a user, I can note that it is beta software, I don't trust it with my photos and I'm not willing to spend the time dealing with issues that can be involved in beta software. There are a number of more proven 3rd party cloud storage options available. -

What happened to the Camera Roll album on my iOS device?
When you turn on iCloud Photo Library, The Camera Roll album is replaced with an All Photos album. The All Photos album gives you the same compact scroll view, now with all your photos and videos organized by the date you add them.

My ipad will not open icloud photos and I have a windows 7 laptop so I removed icloud and and I am trying to download it again but get the following message: There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part of the set up did not finish as expected. This problem occurred I think after one of the Apple updates and I couldn't find icloud photos on the icloud main page. When I tried to open icloud photos from the select menu it was there but nothing happened.
