  • Safari 5.0.5 freezes & crashes when trying to view pdf

For some reason safari 5.0.5 freezes & crashes when trying to view pdf
Any ideas how to fix this issue?

    Hi
    that's usually due to a plug-in over-riding Safari's built-in pdf support.
Quit any browsers & remove any 'pdf...' plugins from either of these folders
    Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
    Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/

The pdf is loading as html code. If you save it, it will download as :
    605124.pdf.html
    Change the extension to .pdf
And it opens and works perfectly, I just tested it:
Use this link to download it automatically:

  • Unable to download/save a pdf doc from Adobe Acrobat Reader (in IE8 or IE9)

I can open the pdf doc, but the button that I would normally click to download the doc to my computer is not highlighted.  I tried upgrading from IE8 to IE9, but still cannot download.  Thanks for any help!

Actually, I had similar issue, but it was FM.  Occasionally, when I did a Save as PDF or Save as with HTML, FM went on for a few moment then stoped saving with an error message along the line: Cannot create <some file name>...  It kept doing the same thing for several tries until I deleted the previously generated files, then all would be well for a while, until the next time...  I don't know it had anything to do with the generated files (PDF or HTML) being opened on a web-browser at the moment.  Yet, as I remembered prior to that and verified afterward, in those times that went without such error, those files were being opened as well.  Thanks!
    PS: I'm using FrameMaker 11

  • Corrupted content error when trying to download .pdf file from one website.

Unable to download .pdf file from a website, but IE8 provided the download without hesitation.
Both v7 and v8 produced the same message:
    "Corrupted content error"
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected.
This may be a particular website problem, or it may be common to the particular industry segment and their protocols.
I have followed the help leads and examined the profile for Firefox as used in this instance. Nothing untoward seemed to pop out as a causal factor.

Reworked some of the javascript for our webserver and fixed the problem.

  • Unable to view PDF output from Report Server

    Help!
I have successfully setup CGI Report Server and can generate and view reports in IE5 as HTML repformat.
However when I try to generate output as PDF I do not get the report displayed. Instead I get a little acrobat icon displayed in the top left of the browser window.
When I click on the icon I get a IE5 message:
"There is no viewer available for the type of object you are trying to open....
    Content Type: application/pdf"
...and then insists on taking me to Microsoft activex plugin page.
This is very stange as I DO have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 installed and the plugin works ok when viewing PDF files on Oracle webpage.
Any suggestions on how to resolve are gratefully received!!
    Regards,
    Richard.

You have run into an interesting problem. The problem is not with Reports. The problem is with Adobe. You can search Adobe's web site and they point to Microsoft (btw, this problem doesn't occur with netscape as the browser) Microsoft's web site point to Adobe.
The Problem is that the .ocx Adobe puts out for use with IE times out if the report take stoo long to start sending back data. We had report that worked and some that didn't. We took a report that worked and put a sleep command in it and when the sleep command got to 10 the report quit working.
My suggestion: move to netscape, make your reports as fast as absolutely possible.

  • When trying to generate pdf file from firefox 7.0.1 , getting corrupt content error, used to work with previous versions of firefox

We have done toleration testing on firefox version 5 thru 6 and haven't got an issue with our website generating pdf files for our users. One of our users upgraded to firefox version 7.0.1 and they tried to generate a pdf report, now a screen pops up with Corrupted Content Error The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected. I recreated this issue on my pc yesterday by installing firefox 7.0.1. Any hints as to what I need to look at would help. Cannot provide the url because it is a secure website for law enforcement. Thanks.

You can turn off compatibility checking, but more and more of the Google Toolbar will not work. Google is no longer supporting the Google Toolbar so you should use the alternatives.
    Hi Mark,

  • Why am I getting an error message trying to view pdf files.

When trying to open any pdf file, I have just started getting this message"
The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.
Why. I have made no change in my system that I know of. I get this message in IE8 or Firefox. I have Windows XP  Professional SP3. PC computer with plenty of RAM and Intel dual processors. So what is the deal. Why the message, I have not turned on Adobe Acrobat/Reader, so why am I being told to shut it down? Why have I never had the problem regardless of browser I use before?

This is incredible. This problem has been going on for years according to the messages on this forum. Adobe? Are you listening? One person had 247,000+ views to her message. Exact same problem I am having today. Here is the error message in case the Adobe programmers have all gone to sleep.
The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.
When are you going to let us know what the fix is Adobe????

  • Viewing PDF files from Email

I just recently changed from a BlackBerry to the new iPhone 4. Other than the known problem, the change has been great. Quick question for those of you more technical sound than me. I receive a large number of PDF files for the kind of work I am involved in. I was traveling yesterday and noticed that I am unable to open the PDF files from the email I received from one of my co workers. In fact, it is not even showing as an attachment although I knew it was coming. Would someone(s) let me know how I can remedy this situation as I am on the road alot and need to ability to view these crucial files. I am really not concerned with making any alterations to the files, just viewing them and then calling the appropriate people to make the changes in house. Your help is greatly appreciate.
