Trying (tried) to install Essbase v11.1.2.0.0

The instructions below are for 11.1.1.3 - thought they were just slightly old and used them to download and configure v11.1.2.0.0

I'm on Windows 7. So I downloaded, installed and configured. There were several problems but I figured them out. Found that I needed the Oracle 11g db and so downloaded and installed that.
In addition, believed I needed the Windows Loopback Adapter and installed that. And at that point I thought I was good to go.
I could login to essmsh (legacy maxl essbase language it seems) but wasn't able to login to the Essbase Administrations Services tool. What I wanted to do next was the examples:

and those require the Admin Services Console which I assume to be the same thing.
Much fumbling around. Reinstalled - that didn't help.
The I noticed: there are a lot more Essbase components listed under the 11.1.1.3 downloads than for 11.1.2.0.0.
Where are the other components (in the newer version)? Have things been rearchitected? Don't know so what I'm trying now is to download and install 11.1.1.3 and see if that works any better.

Uninstalled all of 11.1.2.0.0 and backed up to the previous version 11.1.1.3. 11.1.1.3 was an even bigger mess than 11.1.2.0.0 - I couldn't even get 11.1.1.3 configured. It seems that such things as the application server and apache are not bundled into the 11.1.1 install while they are bundled into 11.1.2. I've repeated this process a sufficient number of times now that I feel I can say this with some certainty.
Went back to 11.1.2. Installed it and configured, all of which I was able to do before. And 11.1.2 is (as it should be) an improvement over 11.1.1.
My original problem was logging into the Essbase Administration Services Console. It turns out that localhost, 127.0.01, and the hostname value are not all equivalent (this machine is getting its address via DHCP and I do have the Windows Loopback Adapter installed). I don't know yet what this all means but when I login to the EAS console with:
server = hostname value
login = admin
password = what I set this value to during the install
it works.
In the Admin console, I've registered my local Essbase server. However I'm not able to connect to it:
Single Sign On External Authentication is Disabled
Google this, etc. I then figured out a bunch of stuff about where various files are. You need essbase.cfg which should point to (for the purpose of Single Sign On) CSS.XML.
And that would seem to work to the point where I get the following in essbase.log:

I've googled this but so far haven't figure it out. The above though should be more useful here in that it's very specific.
Oracle db = 11.1.2
Essbase 9.5 or whatever's the equivalent to 11.1.2
on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
