Trying Windows on a Mac ... installation help

Hello,
I need to venture into the MacWindows world. My boxed version of XP Pro with SP2 arrived a few hours ago. I've read up on the differences between Fusion, Parallels, and Boot Camp, and would love to try all of them.
Can an experienced "MacWindows" user tell me if there is a preferable order of installation?

I have been using Boot Camp and Parallels. For these two, it is important that you install Boot Camp first. After installing Boot Camp, you will be able to choose the "Use Boot Camp" option when setting up Parallels. Otherwise, you will have to have a Parallels "virtual machine" AND a Boot Camp partition. I have not tried Fusion, but I recommend installing Boot Camp first anyhow, since it is a beta and there are risks involved. Be sure to back up everything on your Mac partition first. The first time I tried to partition Boot Camp on my MacBook, there was an error and I had to reinstall Mac OS X. Good Luck =)

Running windows on a mac- NEED HELP

I recently purchased a mac book that runs windows. i installed everything i had to, got the windows side to work.. etc. however, after about a week, the black message screen appeared saying that my computer was not starting up correctly, how would i like to proceed? you could click safe mode or use the same settings as before.. however, i have tried both of those and after about three minutes, the computer freezes, then reboots itself on the mac side. has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone kow how to fix it? thanks-

you have an ibook? well a similar problem has been faced by people with 24" imacs...
i dont know how to fix the particular problem, bu you could simply reformat that partition adn reinstall windows...as for the data, back it up through mac os x first.

I'm Worried: Windows v. Mac Installation?

I purchased Academic Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium today. I have NOT yet obtained a serial number.
I want to install this on my Mac Pro tower.
I only have one disc that says "Mac" but two "Application" disks that say "Windows".
Do I need to exchange this for a Mac version?

The charger is rated 100-240 volts and 50-60 Hz...the real culprit may be heat related...Lithium-Ion batteries are very temperature sensitive.

Conversion of windows file for Mac consumption- Help, please!

I bought a book to study for a test, and there are a couple of tests on a cd that came with the book. I desperately need these to work, soon. Does anyone know of a way to convert these files to run on my mac book? I really don't want to go through boot camp. Thank you for your input in advance.

Removing Windows from my Mac's I used Fusion

I have a simple question, if I uninstall fusion from my MACs will this remove windows also? I just want windows off my MACs any help will be greatly appreciated. Simple is great for me. Thanks in advance. Susan

since Fusion is not an Apple it would be better to use their own Product Support.

I think there's some remmants left over from when Apple transferred stuff over. We can try a quick fix, but if that doesn't work, I think the only option is to clean install OSX and then install Windows.
open disk utility, confirm that you only have 1 partition (mac journaled)
restart and PRAM reset
open disk utility and repair permissions twice
restart boot camp assistant
Does it work?
If not, I would boot holding command+R, choose disk utility from the menu and completely erase your HD (formatting it as mac journaled again). Then, install OSX on this HD. Once OSX is installed, don't copy your files over from the backup yet. Instead, start boot camp assistant and see if you can get Windows installed. You can copy back your other files after we get Windows installed.

ASk in the DW firum and be much more specific. Web page rendering issues are specific to specific versions of browsers and you may simply be using some bad code that messes up your page.

It sounds like it is time to restore from the backups you made just before making the disk changes.
You can re-partition and restore your backups. If you didn't make backups first (you were warned that it might damage things and to make sure you had a good backup) then you will need to repartition everything and reinstall from scratch...

So I'm trying to get a window to fit my mac. Its a window on pokerstars if that helps, so no minimize/maximize. The window is actually too long vertical ways to fit the screen so the bottom is cut off? I hid bottom toolbar but still no help :-/ any help?

Got into trouble when trying to clean install mac but forget to download the installer. plz help

hi everyone, I am using retina macbook pro. i wanted to make a clean install for my macbook, so i erased everything in my macintosh HD in DIsk Utility. afterthat, i realised i have to get the mountain lion mac installer into the usb before wipe off the HD. so what should i do now? i have no installer and cannot get back into my mac either (since i earsed my mac already).

If you did not partition the drive:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
      left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
        the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
      the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
            because it is three times faster than wireless.

Well, let's hope that nothing was jiggled out of place when you were installing the new hard drive. Your optical drive may just be out of alignment or the disc you have is "dirty." Get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol, then clean the disc as thoroughly as you can starting from the center and working outward in a concentric circlular motion. See if that helps. In particular clean the inner portion well.
If this does not help, then you have a problem. You have opened the computer yourself. That action voids all support from Apple. If you take the computer in for service the store may refuse to service the computer. This is not related to your now expired warranty.

Trying to install Windows 7 on Mac Mini Mid2011

Am trying to install Windows 7 on Mac Mini (Mid 2011) OS X Mountian Lion (10.8.2) - 2.3GHz/i5/4GB/500GB with external optical drive attached. Using Windows 7 Ultimate (on USB Flash Drive) and Windows Support Software (on separate USB Flash Drive), as the external optical drive is not recognized when Boot Camp restarts to begin installation process. Here are some issues I am having:
Going through BCA, when selecting the new partition to install on (Disk 0 Partition 4 BOOTCAMP), the warning of "cannot be installed...", so I select Drive Options (advanced)/Format. Drive is reformatted to the NTSF, but loses the BOOTCAMP name. (Reformats to UNTITLED);
Installation of Windows 7 proceeds, until after its third restart and the color bar with the light burst at its center appears at the bottom of the screen with messages stating "Preparing....". The computer then reboots and starts this endless boot loop.
As it never gets to the part where the Windows Support Software is engaged, can I have both the Windows 7 Ultimate installation and the WSS on the same USB?
I have been researching this issue, but with no difinitive solutions (other than snarky "You obviously didn't read the prior post for this issue..." & "Don't people READ previous posts?" responses.), other than one rude reply saying this was a known issues and there is a fix/driver for it, but no reference as to where this fix resides.
Please if anyone has a solution, I would be very grateful for serious and considerate answers. If you feel the need to be rude/snarky/downright unhelpful, don't reply. This is a community help page, not your venting page.

Right now I have 6 different systems installed. Windows XP, 7, and 8 plus Linux Mint, Commodore, and OS X Snow Leopard (for old times sake), all running on Mountain Lion.
I recommend reading the user manual as it greatly helps getting through the steps, however an intuitive person should pick it up fairly easily.

There are other ways to get Windows on a Mac but I'm a big fan of open-source software.
Give it a try. You might like it or it may not be your cup of tea.

Help! problems trying to open creative cloud installer

So every time I try to open creative cloud installer (on my mac) it comes up with a notice saying "administrator priveleges are required to continue with the installation" but I am the administrator so I don't understand what it means! Can anyone help me please??

on a PC you can right click the desktop icon
and choose Run as Administrator
It tends to be an esential step wit Windows 8
