TS1208 question: conflicting dhcp range

Hi out there
Am after a basic language easy to follow instrution to resolve the above
I have a TC as my main wifi router, with an extreme and express as part of the network.  I have the above message on my TC, and I have absolutely no idea how to resolve.  So, i am after someone who can explain how to fix this, and please do so as if I am the dumbest person out ther, I do not understand any of this DCHP/NAT/PPoPe stuff, all it says to me is "blah, blah blah blah!"
Ihave attached to my TC via ethernt - Mac Mini, Denon AVR, and apple TV.  And wireless I have an Asus PC touch screen as a media server.
Am trying to set up so I can airplay wirelss with iphone 3gs, and 4g, plus retina ipads.
All help greatly appreciated!

No complex network is easy .. sorry but the easy is a modem wireless router and every item connected to it.. then it is easy.. as soon as you have multiple items.. it gets hard.
First question is, if you don't have the skills to do this get in a Tech.. think of it as the washing machine on the blink.. if you have that happen most people do NOT start stripping down the washing machine.. they call a tech.
Same here. Networking is something that people do a couple of years in school for a diploma level.
If you want to DIY..
The first step is to write down the IP of every single item..
So start with the Ericson modem router. What is its IP and dhcp set to?
Please list that.
Please remove everything from the network except the TC and modem.. and any switches.. they are fine.
Put the TC back into bridge modem.. and ensure it gets an IP from the Ericson.. if not restart the Ericson and the switch and the TC.. make sure it gets an IP and you can ping it.
List the IP of the TC.. make sure in the Ericson it is listed correctly.
Also note.. items have issues with Apple names.. please name all your apple devices to SMB standards.. short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
No luck.. wire the TC direct to the Ericson.
No switch.. nothing else but a computer wired to the TC to see what is happening.
So you have
Modem--ethernet--TC in bridge--ethernet--computer.
Note down again the IP of everything.
use the tools in the computer.. ping and traceroute to make sure you have local and internet access.
Always..
Reduce complexity of the network, until it works.. then add items. one by one.. ensure every part works as it is added. If a part doesn't work.. reset it and try again.. do the setup in isolation from the network.
Or call a tech.. and think of it as a washing machine.

  • Time Capsule shows error message "Conflicting DHCP Range."

I just set up a wireless network using a Time Capsule as the main router with an Airport Extreme bridged to it so I can have a strong signal downstairs. It all worked fine at first, but at some point the Time Capsule showed this error message on Airport Utility: "Conflicting DHCP Range."
The instructions that pop up when I click on the error message are beyond my level of understanding. They say: "This Airport base station rejected a DHCP address in the same subnet as its internal DHCP server. Try switching your Airport Base Station from using DHCP and NAT to bridge mode. If you still want to use DHCP and NAT to share a single IP address, change your DHCP range."
Could one of you tell me what I should do? Thanks.

Try switching your Airport Base Station from using DHCP and NAT to bridge mode.
I suggest that you do what AirPort Utility suggests.....
Open up AirPort Utility, click on the AirPort Express and click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the window
Insure that the setting for Router Mode is set to "Off (Bridge Mode)"
Click Update to save the settings and give the AirPort Express a minute to restart

  • Airport Extreme - Conflicting DHCP Range - Only 1 router set up

    Backstory:
I recently upgraded my router to the new Airport Extreme from an older Airport Extreme in order to take advantage of the Gigabit ports. The old router worked great, just wanted to take advantage of my 300mbps up/down speeds.
    Problem:
My router is flashing orange and I get an error that pops up on my computer from the Airport Utility stating 'Conflicting DHCP Range'. Normally this problem occurs when there is more than one router/bridge on a single network. However, I have only the one router with no guest network set up. The wireless connection works fine, but an error pops up and interrupts me every few minutes and gets very annoying and the router is flashing orange, indicating a problem. We have tried turning on and off the 5GHz.
I've searched the forums front to back and have found others with this problem but only if they have more than one router set up on the same network.
We have 2 macbook pro retinas running OSX 10.8.3, an AppleTV, an HP printer, and 2 iPhone 5's that connect to the network.
What can I do to address this issue?!!??
    Thank you,
    Nick

When you configured the new AirPort Extreme, did you use the option to "Create a new network", or did you use the option to "Replace an existing device"?
Can you provide the make and model number of your modem?

  • Trying to set up Directv GenieGO using Airport Extreme.  Getting error message: DHCP range entered conflicts with the WAN IP Address of your base station.  How do I resolve the conflict.

Trying to configure an Airport Extreme manually.  After I enter the IP Address of the GenieGo along with the rest of information required I am getting the following error message when I click update:
DHCP range entered conflicts with the WAN IP address of your base station.
How do I resolve the conflict?

You cannot use the same range on LAN and WAN if you are routing.. it must be different.. and you should not be routing at all.
The AE should be in bridge mode. NO DHCP settings at all.

  • Static IP address and DHCP range

    Hi,
A month back I decided to move over from Win to OS X and got my MB Pro RD. Along with that decided to replace my DLink DIR-655 wireless router with TC.
My home network counts up to 15 devices that uses wireless AP. ISP ethernet cable comes out of wall and directly to TC, no other devices in between.
Back in time when I had DLink in use it was using static IP 89.201.x.x and DHCP was assiging 192.168.x.x addresses to devices.
Now when moved over to TC only DHCP range I can get is in range 89.201.x.x, it does not allow to change DHCP to something else than 89.201.x.x
Question - is there a way to configure TC so that I use same static IP (89.201.x.x) but DHCP gives out 192.168.x.x to devices?
    Thanks in advance!
    BR
    UAUX

Ok you must set the TC into router mode.. at the moment you have it in some other mode..
You can use 192.168 if you want to but by default the TC is 10.0.1.x
So the Internet tab should be set either dhcp or if you have static IP then you can apply that.
Normally even a static IP from the ISP is still received by dhcp on the WAN interface.
On the Network tab you must select DHCP + NAT.
In the network options you change the IP and dhcp range..
The TC always takes address 1.. and you do not set the TC address directly.. rather you set the dhcp range and the TC will follow.
So in my example I have set 192.168.2.2-200 for dhcp and the TC will automatically become 192.168.2.1
    Set it as you prefer.

  • Airport Extreme 802.11ac manual DHCP range

I have one of the new Airport Extreme 802.11ac units, and am running airport utility 6.3 on my server.
I am trying to setup my network but I would like my own DHCP range instead of 10.0 or 192.168 - I would like to add 10.20,  This way it wont conflict with my other network for work which has 10.0 and my IP TV Network which is 192.168.  I would like to add a manual address for my home netwok so I can add a vpn to avoaid the conflits.
Is there anyway of adding my own DCHP range in the new extreme?
    Thanks
    Greg

It isn't possible to change the first two octet values other than what apple has already allowed.. ie 10.0, 172.16 or 192.168
That is how Apple build their stuff.
I have no idea if this would work.. but someone else suggested the idea.. export the configuration of the AE .. you will find that is available via the top menu.. then open the xml file that is produced and do a search and replace for 10.0 to 10.20 or whatever you want.. save the file.. and import it back to AE.. it is crude windows sort of operation but it worked to change dhcp messages for the poster.

  • Setting DHCP Ranges - HomeHub 3

I connect to a remote site via a VPN, running a remote desktop to do various jobs on that remote site.  Owing to the remote site using various ranges of private IP addresses, I have to change the default DHCP ranges on the routers I use to avoid conflict.  I have used a variety of Routers over the years, and have had no problems.  My first change to my BT Home Hub 3 worked just fine - I changed it to 172.21.1.x, and there were no issues.  Now the remote site are changing things around, and they are using that range internally.  So I have tried to change the settings to 10.0.5.x, but this results in 'invalid entry!' error messages being displayed against the router's IP address (10.0.5.1) and subnet mask (255.255.255.0).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That range is reserved by the home hub by BT for BTOpenzone and FON.
    Its built into the firmware.
You should be able to use the same range locally, provided you set your local TCPIP  metric value to 10, and your VPN TCPIP properties to metric 1.
This will ensure that when the VPN is connected, it has a higher priority over your local adapter.
All network requests will then go via the VPN, and not to your local network.
You could then continue to use 172.21.1.x locally.

  • Max IPs in a DHCP range for Roaming network?

Setting up an AirPort roaming network comprised of a dozen or so AirPort-Extremes all connected via a Fast Ethernet backbone.
The Master base station has a Public IP on it's WAN side and is Set to 'Share a Public IP address' and DHCP - but it seems no matter which network prefix I choose for the LAN side, I can not create a DHCP range larger than a single Class C. Is there a way to give out more than 254 IPs? Or can you have a single roaming network with multiple base stations set to DHCP?

Is there a way to give out more than 254 IPs?
No, as the "main" router, providing DHCP server service is the limiting factor here.
Or can you have a single roaming network with multiple base stations set to DHCP?
This may be possible, but NOT with the Apple routers. When configured as bridges, as required for a roaming network, both their NAT & DHCP services are disabled.

  • How do I change DHCP range other than standard options

Recently I discoverd that the settings of the DHCP range of my Time Capsule changed after an update. Through my provider we have received a DHCP-range so I can access the disks remote via BTMM. Due the the internal fiber network it was necessary to adjust this. The range which was set started with 37.17. After the update it is only possible to choose from 10.0, 172.16 or 192.168.
The problem now is that I cannot remotely access my TC from outside the office. Can anyone please hand me a sollution.
    See screen captures below
    NEW:
    OLD

This is interesting one.. normally the setup when using a block of IP's is not NAT at all. NAT must use the private IP address range.
So I am not sure how it worked in the old setup.
On the Internet tab.. you should select the static IP.
Then on the network tab, you set the dhcp to the actual range of addresses that you have been given.. surely not the whole block of 200 addresses.
That is just how the Apple auto fills it in.
It is only if you NAT that you would then have issues with the private IP range.
In this case you are NOT going to NAT. You are applying an ISP provided range of IP addresses to your clients.. and you must use just dhcp..
I cannot understand how you OLD picture with dhcp and nat could have worked. But it was a mistake in an older utility.. at a guess.

  • Custom DHCP range on Airport Extreme?

    Hi Guys,
I've been googling unsuccessfully for a solution to this problem. It seems that the Airport locks me into 3 possible DHCP ranges. However, I need a custom dhcp range like this:
    192.150.23.*
Is there any hack I can use to do this?
    Thanks!
    John Francis

Um, someone correct me if I'm wrong but that's not an internal IP. In fact, It looks like Adobe owns that class C subnet.

  • Aironet 1240 ag setting dhcp range

How do I set up a dhcp range in the Aironet 1240ag access point? The access point is the dhcp server.

You can only set the DHCP scope on a AP from the CLI, so you would need to get console/telnet/ssh access. After that is the same setup as a router or switch.

  • IP address outside TC DHCP range

Hi. I want to set my Powerbook IP wireless IP address outside the DHCP range of my Time Capsule. can anyone tell me what the default DHCP IP address range of the Time Capsule is??
    Thanks .... TC

*"I want to set my Powerbook IP wireless IP address outside the DHCP range of my Time Capsule"*
Then start your DHCP addressing at an address ending in .5 or greater and assign yourself an IP address ending in .2 .3 or .4.
*"can anyone tell me what the default DHCP IP address range of the Time Capsule is??"*
You can find all this out using the Airport Utility application under Internet --> DHCP

I use a DSL to connect to the internet. The modem is a Westell C90-810030-06. Two things happened in connection with the fail. I upgraded the firmware in both my Time Capsule (connected to the DSL) and the Airport Extreme (connected to my printer--used to extend the network). I also upgraded my Colof Nook to the Android Faux Tablet version. I can't imagine that that is creating some sort of mismatch.
I have now downgraded the firmware on the Time Capsule to 7.4.1 which is what I had before. Fortunately, I found the trick to downloading the older airport utility to find the older firmware. All the older versions disappeared from my computers.
I still have the same problem. Wifi works fine. If a second device connects to the wifi, then it works fine, but the first no longer has a connection.
And my Airport Extreme is not working at all. It cannot be seen by the computer. I tried resetting it. I'm going to connect it by ethernet and downgrade the firmware on it.
I appreciate any help. This is so frustrating.

  • How to keep DHCP range from going back to default?

Whenever I call Verizon for service such as activating a new STB, my DHCP distribution range will go back to factory settings. This is quite annoying as I have devices that require a certain IP segment. Is there a way to prevent anyone from resetting my router back to factory settings??
    Joe

I am not sure how to prevent the resettting but you could backup your router configuration by logging into the router, advanced - Config. file - save. Then restore it as needed.
