TS1277 sony laptop - downloaded iTunes but cannot get laptop authorised to play content

Hi, just downloaded iTunes to new Sony Vaio laptop and although all iTunes content appears as on old Sony laptop I cannot play it! A message appears saying computer is not authorised. I have tried to authorise it through iTunes Store as per support instructions but no box appears saying click here to authorise this computer (or similar message). Any ideas? Keep it simple please I'm not not a Geek! Thanks.

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

Click on the iPhone Subsection, then go to the music subsection, and remeber to enable the sync music. When you are done, click on the APPLY button on the lower right of iTunes. Afterwards, sync your iPhone. Hope this helps!

You can delete apps from itunes by going to the Apps section of the Library NOT the sync page. Select App and delete. It will then be gone from the App Sync page as well.

You mentioned in a different thread that you cannot download Flash without deleting Internet Explorer. That should not be necessary. Anyway, your "More System Details" shows that you have Flash 12 installed, so you shouldn't need to reinstall it unless we determine that it is really broken.
When on the problem site, do you see a notification icon to the left of the address, up in the address bar? It would look like a piece of Lego. Could you click that and see whether it indicates anything about the status of Flash, or any other plugin?

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

I am having trouble downloading ITunes without getting a virus or other problem. I went to Apple clicked on ITunes and then hit get redirected to itunes.descargar.es. I don't trust this because I have heard that it is not safe.

Let's try a malware scan to see if we can knock out any redirecters you might have picked up.
Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hours on my Lenovo.)
Does the scan find any infections? If so, please paste the contents of the log file for the scan in a reply here so we can have a look.

I have rented a movie from iTunes, but cannot get it to play

The film has downloaded, and on the picture of the film title, there is the word "play" with an arrow. When I click on the word play, nothing happens. I have iTunes 10.5, and iTunes has been happy as a clam, and I can listen to music and audio books...but I cannot play this film!
I appreciate any advice anyone can give!

I'm far from being a newbie with computers and digital toys and I'm also having this problem. You do realize that the apps for the iPad cannot be used on the Mac, right? They are two different operating systems. iOS apps for iOS devices and Mac Apps for Macs.
You can only store iOS apps in the iTunes libraries on a Mac.

Latest version of itunes installed and sequencing seemed normal...but no transfer of recent purchases. (Worked fine months ago on a different computer). Any ideas appreciated.

iIn iTunes - click on the Tones tab. Now go to the menu - select "File" - "add file to library" - browse to your file - select it and thats it.
