    Hello, GwladysPa.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I believe that the iTunes update is requesting your computer's administrator password to update the application.  Here is the article that explains this process.

  • How do I start a new iTunes, iCloud account on iPod, iPad?

I need to know the best way to approach this... I have an iPhone & iPad that I share an iTunes account with my brothers (each of them has an iPhone). I want to start a new iTunes account on my personal laptop since i'm no longer living with them. Should I restore my phone from scratch and create an entirely new iTunes account, having to redownload all my apps, songs, etc? No matter what I need to do, I have a feeling it'll be time consuming, but I just want to know the best way to go about things! Thanks!

Well, if you want to waste a ton of time, go right ahead and restore.
Or if you value your time and sanity... simply go to Settings > Store > Sign Out.
Then select Sign In and when prompted select the option to create a new Apple ID.
Keep in mind that all your current media and apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID they were acquired with.

  • TS3716 installed the new itunes and now my ipod nano  does not show in the device menu

installed the new itunes and now my ipod nano  does not show in the device menu

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • Uploading to new iTunes from old

I have an older version of iTunes that came with the 30GB video iPod back in the day and I want to upload to the most recent one because I want to watch some videos but I want to make sure that it will work. I want to make sure because one time I accidentally uploaded to the newer version and I wasn't able to put songs into my iPod so I had uninstall it and put all the 2000 something songs back into my iPod.
My brother recently did that and nothing happened at it works fine for him today so my question is when I upload to the newer version of iTunes will I be able to put songs into my iPod? Or should I do this first before uploading to the newer version first just incase that way if it doesn't work I don't have to upload the songs over again.
    Thanks in advance!

No, do NOTHING to your iTunes music folder. The link you posted is basically only used if you wanted to move the iT music folder to a new drive location. There are no 100% guarantees with computers as I'm sure you realize. You should really have no problems with upgrading iTunes, but it would be a very good idea to have your library backed up, if you haven't already, just in case you do have a problem.

  • I want to start a new itunes library

I have an older itunes account that I shared with a friend. I set up a new appleid for myself, and want to have my own itunes library with all new songs. Each time i go to itunes and sign in with my appleid (new), it shows the old library, but i can't manage my new account. I have tried uninstalling itunes and starting new, but it defaults to the old account even without signing in.

Launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and create a new library, or use separate user accounts on the computer. Apple IDs are separate from iTunes libraries.

  • I want to create a new itunes account but keep the content.  Is this possible?

My family has always used one Itunes account for all devices.  Now it is necessary for us to create a new itunes account.  We want to keep the apps, music etc that we each have now.  How can I do this?  Is this even possible?

I hope this isn't too wordy but I want to be as clear and explicit as I can for you.
You can't transfer purchases from one account to another account. Apple doesn't allow it.
You can continue to use your daughter's Apple ID in order to continue to use the apps that you purchased with her ID and you will need to use her ID and password any time that you want to update those apps. What you do want to avoid is having to download any of those purchased apps again on any other devices - if you create a new Apple ID.
If you create a new ID and then you sign into her ID in order to download a previous purchase-  you will lock yourself out of the new ID for 90 days and there is nothing that you can do about it. So as long as you do NOT download any past purchases with her ID - you will not lock yourself out of the new ID. So you can keep using the apps that were bought with her ID, you can also update those apps using her ID (you have to sign into her account in Settings>Store) but you can't download past purchases without messing things up with your new ID.
When you download a past purchase with a different ID - you associate that device with the different ID for 90 days. This is one way that Apple hopes to cut down on pirating of apps - friends using other friends IDs in order to download apps without patting for them.
This explains it in a little more detail.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
The bottom line is that you can create a new ID, still use her ID - judiciously - but you really want to avoid downloading past purchases with her ID. Transfer all of those purchases into iTunes so that if something happens and you need the purchased content again, you can just sync it again rather than downloading it.
    This explains transferring purchases.

  • I have a new iPod Touch and PC running Windows 7. I want to upload pictures from my PC to my iPod. The best I can do right now is to create a new subdirectory on my PC and put all the pictures I want in that subdirectory. I want many subdirectories! ??

I have a new iPod Touch. I also run Windows 7 on my desktop PC. I have tried to post pictures from my PC to the iPod. But the only way you can do this that I know of, is to create a subdirectory on the PC and put all of your pictures that you want on the iPod in that subdirectory. Then you must use iTunes to synchronize the PC subdirectory with photos on the iPod. But I want many subdirectories to organize my pictures on the iPod. Can you do this??, it doesn't look to me like you can!??
    Thanks Tom

    Yes.

If you mean iTunes library, create a new one and import the song files.
