TS1286 iPod no longer syncs with iTunes either by USB or Wi-Fi

My iPod Touch2 is recognised by Windows7 PC when connected by USB and only shows in iTunes under STORE under items purchased. But there is no icon to allow sync to take place. Wifi no longer works even when iPod is charging and iTunes is running on PC. iTunes and iPod software shows as up to date. iPod has been hot and cold restarted. Nothing suggested in FAQ's is working. Please help.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

New cable and different USB port?

Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem
Then try restoring again.

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.

Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

You mean you can't get to the Summary pane?
If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

I have a 30gb ipod video that is no longer syncing with itunes (8.0.1.11).
I had about 10gb of music on my iPod previously, when I hooked it up to iTunes to add more music to it, it deleted everything on my iPod and only synced about 500mb of new music. I've tried restoring my iPod as well as restarting my computer & iTunes and have had no luck adding any music to it.
I've scoured the iTune site for help as well as googled my issues and nothing has popped up.

It was a precursor to my G4 HD going south. Had to rebuild from scratch and it's fine.

As I said in my reply to your other post you need more storage available. Like about 1 GB or more. You have to delete stuff from your iPod.

IPod won't sync with iTunes on Windows 7/64 bit PC

I just updated my PC to Windows 7/64 bit. iPod will not sync with iTunes. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, and tried all the suggestions on the Internet (except restoring the iPod, too scary; and modifying registry on the PC, too too scary). The device thinks it has the most current software. The iPod tries to connect and appears briefly but then disconnects. A Windows message appears asking the following: "Do you want to scan and fix My iPod? There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it." If I tell it yes to scan it gives another error message that is it not recognized. If I tell it to skip the scan, the device disconnects and nothing happens. No syncing. I am at a loss as to how to fix this. Has anyone encountered this type of issue and if so - how did you resolve it. I don't want to restore the iPod as I do not know if it will ever connect and sync again and all the music on it now would be lost and the device would be useless.
