This is Linda again. The new iPad actually as not restored on my employees computer. I thought it was working. Message said the device is in recovery mode and can not be restored. Ive migrated my apps from an old mac to my new mac. When i try to open my CS5 programs it get a pop up that says i need to install the legacy java SE 6. Ive done that and it still does not open?
I'm having a similar problem...but mine results from an OS upgrade from 10.6.4 to 10.8.5.
Where did you access a clean copy of Java SE 6? The link at adobe for archicval plug-ins is a dead download (and it doesn't appear to contain Java SE 6.).

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.

Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.

Some days ago i started to have some issues with the internet connection on my iphone (i have an iphone 4s). when it started i couldnt find any wireless available so i turned off the phone and turn it back on and problem solved, when that sttoped working i just disabled the wi-fi button and wait a few seconds and turn it back on and problem solved, and than that stopped working as well so i reset the network setting and problem solved and now nothing of that things work and the wi-fi button is not available anymore. I can't find any answers to this question besides a discussion from 2006 regarding a "SPTD driver installation" with a broken link. I don't think it's the cable because I can still charge the ipod, but the device is not listed in My Computer or in the Device Manager or anywhere. The ports work with other USB cables including my web cam. Help, anyone?
If you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you follow the steps in this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 exactly. Check and make sure. If you did, then try this support document to get the phone into the Recovery mode. It may take more than one try. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

what is the point of the Ipod Touch(2nd generation)?Every single app is not compatible with it.Am I missing something?My cell phone cost 1/2 as much and does way more.This is why I don't normally purchase any apple products.Overpriced flashlight,that's about all it does.
There are still some apps compatible, with the 2G. Also, since September, Apple has now allowed download the last version of apps that were compatible with the 2G but have been updated to no longer be compatibles
To more easily find compatible apps:

you would have to restore device to sync with the windows machine. iPods are meant to be monagonmous with a single computer and iTunes library.

3rd Generation iPod is not recognized in iTunes or Finder with FireWire
My refurbished 3rd generation 30 GB (used the battery replacement plan) all of a sudden is not recognizable in either iTunes of the Finder when connected to a FireWire port, which it has done many times. However when I connect it with a USB connection it is recognized, but when I go to restore the software, I’m told I need a FireWire connection by the warning windows from iTunes.
Any suggestions?

Hank KearnsStrange. Both of my Macs are PowerPC Macs running 10.4.10. My Third Generation iPod works fine. The only problem is that when charging it from the wall using the iPod Power Adapter it won't charge to 100 percent. Even after syncing it up directly to either my '17 iMac G5 1.8 GHz or '12 PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz it won't charge all the way. The Knowledge Base Articles I've read seem to indicate that in rare cases the iPod's logic board or Hold Switch may need to be replaced. So far I've replaced the 10 GB hard drive that died with a 20 GB hard drive, replaced the Hold Switch & replaced the Lithium Ion rechargeable battery. I think in my case the iPod logic board may need to be replaced. I originally bought mine refurbished & replacing the iPod costs about $299 according to Apple. Replacing the logic board only costs $65 though if you Google iPod with Dock Connector parts. The link shows up in one of the ads in the right pane of the search results. I really think Apple should recall the Third Generation iPods with defective logic boards. The least they could do is offer a logic board replacement program like they do for Macs.

ipod is not recognized simply because it's not installed on your new system,the fact that itunes exist doesn't mean that ipod is as well ,try to reinstall ipod soft on your system

Here's an answer from the net:
Go to Settings/Mail,contacts,calendars/Add account choose other, choose Add Mail Account. Fill in name, email address, password and description on the screen that comes up. Save those.
One the next screen tat comes up click om POP in the first line then fil in the host name as
spop.west.cox.net or spop.east.cox.net or the one to go with your region.
Note that is not a misprint, that is spop (secure pop)
Fill in your username one more time (the password should have carried over from previously)
Fill in your outgoing mail server like smtp.west.cox.net (change for your region) and click Save.
When all the settings are verified a checkmark will appear next to them all and you are good to go.
If it says something like "can't connect via SSL would you like to ..." then you probably missed the step about selecting POP on the second screen and are trying IMAP so go back and try over with POP. Or perhaps mistyped soemthing.
Once everything is working you can go back into the settings and see that it has automatically connected on port 995 and that SSL is on
Note that you probably won't be able to send email from a wifi in a cafe or similar as cox won't let you connect to their smtp from outside their network.
I haven't tried receiving mail from a non cox connected wifi yet but I suspect it will work just fine. Anyway these settings work for me using my ipod to my home wifi router connected to cox.
I could not find a definitive guide when I searched so I hope this helps other folks trying to configure this.

Restore, if iTunes will let you. Everything except the password will be restored. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. Be forewarned that it takes a long time. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. If you have IOS-7, read this. -
