TS130 ERROR CODE 1962 - NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND

Lenovo TS130 Ubuntu Server 14.04 Error 1962: This error occurred during the installation of Ubuntu Server on a hard drive that was completely deleted and then re-partioned using "use entire disk" option in the installation menu: No operating system would start regardless of the BIOS settings such as UEFI, legacy, auto; quickboot; etc.
The solution was to update the BIOS to the latest version from the Lenovo website and then enable the new securboot feature in the BIOS menu.
For the TS130, this was accomplished by burning the BIOS update on a CD after downloading for the system from the Lenovo website and then updating the server via the CD and on-screen prompts.
The optimize BIOS defaults was selected from the Exit menu in the BIOS settings to set everything back to original before the update was run.
Then the CD drive was moved upwards above the hard drive under primary in the boot menu to run the BIOS Update CD at boot.
Afterwards, there will be additional options in the BIOS menu which is where the solution lies. There is a new option below the "load optimal defaults" which is new from the BIOS update and named optimize operating system defaults. Selecting this will bring up prompts asking about enabling securboot and such but if everything is enabled, the system started Ubuntu Server 14.04 without issues.

  • ERROR CODE 1962 - NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND

My B540 continues to experience intermittent problems with Error Code 1962-No Operating System Found.  Sometimes the computer will run correctly for 3 or 4 days, other times for just an hour, but in the end it repeatedly locks up and will not reboot.  If I check the Bios Setup immediately after this happens, it says that there is no HDD.  However, if I wait for an hour or two with the computer off, it will boot.
    1. The logical explanation is that the HDD is faulty, but that is not so in this case.  In addition to the HDD that came with the computer, I have tried two other HDDs, both brand new, never used, and both with fresh Win 7 installs.  Both of those ended up with the same Error Code 1962.  There is no way that all three HDDs could be defective.
    2. I removed and reseated the memory.
    3. I ran extensive diagnostic tests on the memory; it tests OK.
    4. Someone suggested plugging the HDD SATA cable into a different SATA connection, but the B540 only has two connections (one for the HDD, one for the optical drive).  I swapped those two, but still got the error code.
I have to believe that the problem is with the motherboard.  I have noticed on the forum that other people are experiencing the same 1962 error code; has anyone found a working solution?
    Thanks!

  • When the keyboard is unplugged I get "Error 1962: No Operating system found."

I have a new Lenovo ThinkServer TS130 1105B2U. It has a Core i3-3220 and 4GB of memory. SATA 0 and SATA 1 each have a 250GB HDD configured to mirror each other using RAID1. I just finished installing Windows 7 Pro and drivers. However, I have discovered that when I try to reboot the machine with my USB keyboard disconnected I get "Error 1962: No operating system found. Press any key to repeat boot sequence." When I reconnect the USB keyboard and reboot the machine, Windows 7 Pro boots like expected. Why can't it find the operating system if the keyboard is unplugged?

This is fixed in BIOS version 20B.
You can use the following link to update BIOS from witin Windows.

  • "ERROR 1962: No operating system found." After installing ESXi 5.5 successfully.

I just installed VMware vSphere esxi 5.5 hypervisor on my lenovo think-center machine with config: i5, 3.2gHz, >300gb SATA HDD, 6GB ram. However after successful installation I receive "ERROR 1962: NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND". I've tried 'formatwithmbr' and tweaking some of my BIOS setting like changing boot mode to legacy, auto and UEFI one after another, putting boot preference for HDD first etc. But none seems to work. I think BIOS and its settings are completely ineffective when it tries to boot, and I am not even taken to the esxi 5.5 hypervisor menu. Kindly help.
PS- The machine had windows server 2012 as running OS while installing esxi 5.5.

    Dear rachitt_23
    1. May I know what machine are you using?
    2. Check whether Intel VT Technology is Enabled?
    3. Even if the boot mode is set to Auto, check that it is configured to Legacy first.

  • H520s Error 1962 No operating system found

Hi, I have a Lenovo H520s, and two problems just appeared. First of all, it started to show "Start PXE over IPv4," then after waiting for a while "PXE-E18: Server response timeout. Start PXE over IPv6" would appear. A little bit later, the computer simply shows "Error 1962: No operating system found."
I went into the BIOS and I have Boot Mode set to "Auto" with UEFI first. I don't know where to go from here.
I recently used IOBit Uninstaller to uninstall all the software for my Epson WF-3540 scanner/printer and then reinstalled everything, and my only theory was that IOBit uninstaller deleted something that it should not have. This is probably the first time I have turned the computer off and on again since then.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

  • B540p error 1962 no operating system found

i have had nothing but problems with this model since day 1. i upgraded to windows 8 and have suffered all of the associated symptoms that everybody else is suffering..
today is the last straw.. i have an error 1962 .. no operating system found..
i have been overly patient.. fixing this brand new machine has taken alot of time and effort...
why should i already have spent all this time on a brand new machine..
there is only help on here from other frustrated users. i find this incredible for a machine that cost over 900 pounds..
lenovo have had very little in the way of advice to their customers on here over this machine..
the answer to this problem nay have been very easily solved..
THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A VERY BIG WARNING  SENT OUT WITH THIS MACHINE..
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 8... BUT HEY WHO WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE MACHINE THEN???
I HAVE A BRAND NEW MACHINE THAT SIMPLY DOESNT WORK...
AND WITH WINDOWS 8 UPGRADED ONLINE.. WINDOWS 7 IS GONE FOREVER..
SURELY ITS TIME TO ASK FOR A PRODUCT RECALL..
the worst thing about buying this is that I dont even know if I would have had the same amount of problems if I hadnt upgraded to windows 8... lenovo seem to be hiding behind this issue.. its a windows 8 problem , not lenovo, or its a store problem, they are the ones who said it would be compatible...
I saw nothing from lenovo to say , dont upgrade..
this machine simply doesnt work and its surely time for lenovo to do something about it.

Edit : saddly the crappy message came back. It seems that indeed it's a connection matter. When it reconnects the HDD correctly, sometimes it messes up with the boot sequence so this is why I could "repair" somemthing.
    Waiting for the SAV.
Hi there, I felt on that topic today since the brand new Lenovo B540 computer of my wife gave us that deadly message.
Well .. I have been able to make it work (so I think, I don't trust that computer anymore)
So, I registered in order to share what I did :
First of all I created a bootable usb key with http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
In that little jewel I used Parted Magic (in the first page, third from the bottom) to realize that "hey, the HD is actually HERE !!" I could see the files modify them etc ..
But since I ain't no expert I haven't been able to use the tools to change something. However, I could see that something was wrong with the boot sequence, that the letter of my hardrive was on D:\ and the booting was on some weird Lenovo partition... So, I said to myself : Well, lets find a way to place back the boot on the D:\
I then created a Recovery CD from my Win7 64bit personnal installation.
To create such a CD, place an empty CD in your burner :
Start menu -> Run -> recdisc -> choose the letter of your CD/DVD burner -> create
Then I booted on it (you must the *Boot Priority: [Auto].)
After a decade of loading, the windows 7 recovery system found a Boot error and asked me if I wanted it to be repaired. Of course, I said "YES, f...k YES !!" .. and, of course, it didn't work . . .
But, interesting thing is, after the fix failed, I had some options like restore previous versions etc etc and "DOS Line codes (or something like that, it pops up a CMD line comands window).
And then the real deal started :
I placed myself on the correct letter -> D:
Then that line of code : BootRec /RebuildBcd
After two decades of works, it asked me if I wanted the D letter to be added back on the boot list. Of course, I said "YEEEEEEEEEES" while crying my soul out, and then, of course, it made me an error ...
After a 10 min of curses that you don't want to hear, I then typed : BootRec /fixboot
    And it worked.
I rebooted on the Windows CD recovery who of course found one more time the Boot issue, and when I asked for it to repair that error : IT F... WORKED !!
I rebooted 3 times the PC just to be sure, turned it off 2 times, everything SEEMS to be fine.
So, I share that with you now, because all the way I used I found it here and there on this forum !
    Hope it helps

  • 2 probs! HDD Formatted and no recovery discs and "1962 NO Operating System" error message

Hi, I have had my Lenovo Idecentre B540 for approx 2 weeks now and my hard drive had to be formatted and windows reinstalled.  However, this means the partition is lost and i had no recovery disc or drivers disc with it so have been unable to get the touchscreen working and probably missing out on all the features that were the reasons for buying this machine.
Running Windows 7 home premium and have downlaoded all the drivers from the support page on here but nothing there for the touch panel drivers and cant find it or ideatouch 4.5 online either.
I would like a disc sending to me or a link to be able to downlaod please.
    Also now i have had
"1962 no operating system" error message when booting. ANy known reason for this? Lots of guesses online but no concrete answer.

  • TS140 EasyStartup 3.8.1f - Win 2012 R2 "No Operating System Found"

Hi, I have a strange problem that I hope someone can help me with. I am very sorry for that the problem description is in caps.
I INSTALLED WINDOWS SERVER 2012 R2 DATAACENTER WITH EASYSTARTUP V3.8.1F IN UEFI MODE, I USE RAID. ON REBOOT I GET ERROR CODE 1962. CTRL+ALT+DELETE DOES NOT FIX IT, ONLY A FRESH START WITH THE HARDWARE BUTTON WORKS.

I am having this same problem with my system.
Maybe things have changed since I worked on servers but it used to be you used the start up disk to set up the OS install answer file and included the driver\utility run the RAID set upprior to OS installation.  The EasyStartup disk that came with the server (v3.8.1f) says so on the label:
"RAID con?guration tool and automated installation tool for server operating systems"
    - that is not a typo, it has a "?" in the word on the label.
So, I loaded the disk and instead of making the RAID configuration utility available as an option to run during the process, it simply says to Click Exit and configure the RAID before installing the OS.  Thanks Mr. EASYStartup!  How ever could I do this without you?
The utility I need to run/use is called the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology enterprise option ROM configuration utility" but the EasyStartup disk does not have it.  It is also not in all those downloads on the website that I can tell with those cryptic names.  Would anyone like a "ul_lsi_storcli_1.09.14_anyos" download?  I think it is originally from the beautiful Greek islands.
I am downloading the latest EasyStartup disk iso (v3.8.1g) and giving that one a shot.  If that fails, I am making a bootable USB key and loading all the TS140 downloads available and clicking on everything not labeled BIOS until it breaks or loads what I want.
I did call the number posted here on the off chance I could get lucky and get someone smart to help me out.  No such luck.  The correct SERVER support number is (800) 426-7378.  Have your Model and S/N ready.
I got hung up on once.  Then, I called back one more time and was transferred to the server tech support line where I finally got someone ... unsmart.  They were trying to be helpful but clearly were guessing (with their eyes closed) as to what I was trying to accomplish and what solution would work.
I was told to update the BIOS to the latest version because maybe the older version of BIOS did not have the instruction to prompt me with the "Control-I I" am supposed to see (according to the ThinkServer TS140 User Guide pg 32) when trying to configure the onboard RAID prior to OS installation.  Yeah, so glad I called ....
After 5 minutes diagnosing, they said "try this and if it doesn't work, call us back and we'll send someone out with a replacement motherboard".  Really? Already??
My first trip to Lenovo Server land and so far, the product is impressive (it is so quiet I swore it was off the first time I powered it on) but the support is not.  Dammit Jim, I need a utility, not a motherboard ....
(I think my EasyStartup iso finished downloading while I wrote this post. Finally)

  • T43: "No operating system found"

I have an aftermarket, Western Digital 320 GB harddrive installed on my T43 (2668).  Every now and then it will display a "No operating system found" message.  After some random number of restart attempts, it will work, and firefox will even remember the tabs I had open.  It will display the 2010 error, but that is not a problem.  Does anyone know how to fix/avoid this?
    Thanks

  • Could not open error log file ''. Operating system error = 5(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).

    Hello
When I try to start the SQl server service i get the following error:
    Event id 17058
Could not open error log file ''. Operating system error = 5(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).
As a test I have made sure the errorlog file ,and the entire drive it is, has everyone full control permissions, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this issue?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Try running:
    SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ErrorLogFileName')
Then verify that the account being used to run the SQL Server service account has access to the path output above.  If possible, you could try logging onto the server with the same account used to run SQL Server then navigate to the errorlog folder.
    Thanks,

  • XML Form Error: java.lang.RuntimeException: No system found for alias

    Hello,
We are currently having an issue with our XML forms.  When we try to access our XML forms we receive the following error:
java.lang.RuntimeException: No system found for alias SAP_R3_QWA
Is there a place within the forms to set the system alias?

    Hi Jereme,
Have you installed the DMS Connector for KM?
I can imagine that this issue is related to an incorrect version of the DMS Connector for KM (regardless of whether you are using the DSMRM or not).
In that case you can do the following to correct the issue:
    1) Undeploy your current version of 'DMS Connector for KM'
    2) Download the latest version of 'DMS Connector for KM' from Service Marketplace and deploy it to your portal
    3) Restart J2EE engine after deployment
    Hope this helps,

    Hi All,
I am doing a silent install of EM12C, I have downloaded the 2 zip files from e-delivery.
The installation is done as ora3010 user whose group id is ems3010. On the same machine I have installed 11.2.0.2 with the same ora user ora3010 and group ems3010 for EM repos.
Now when I try to do the silent install of EM12C with the command

    I get this error
ERROR: OUI-10180:Invalid Operating System group name specified.
As you can see the UNIX_GROUP_NAME is set to proper group id ems3010

    Please Help.

    Thanks Asheoran.
However the issue was with my Ora Inventory file OraInst.loc. I had actually installed 11.2.0.2 database on the same machine and as same user, and for that db I had a different OraInst.loc file. When I give the same OraInst.loc file for the EM install too, the error goes away. It seems we just need to have one Inventory file for both installations.

  • Virtual WLC on VMWare vCloud - No Operating System Found

    Hi,
Trying to install/deploy a virtual WLC image (7.6) on a VMWare virtual Cloud Domain (VCD) environment.
The OVF deployment runs just fine, but as soon I am booting up the image, VMWARE is stating "No Operating System found".
    What am I doing wrong?
    /Sijbren

    Fixed this one.
In VMWARE Cloud Directory you do not have access to the directory structure.
In a "normal" VMWARE environment the OVA file is correctly deployed including mounting a bootable ISO as CDROM disk. This does not happen in VCD.
To fix this, you must manually upload the ISO and mount it to the VM in VCD.
The ISO can only be recovered from a regular VMWARE OVA deployment.

  • Big troubles! clicking hard disk, no operating system found

hi group.i have a satellite p305d-s8828 laptop. i was told my hard drive is fried. when i turn it on, theres a constant clicking noise and then message that no operating system found. any ideas? anybody? PLEASE.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Of course there is.  They make good quality drives, that perform well, are affordable, with excellent reliability, something most of the others can not claim.
Seagates over the past few years have had too high of a failure rate.  They used to make some excellent drives (I have a couple of older 7300.10's from 2006 that are still running strong) but pretty much anything made after the 7200.10's have been problematic at best.  They also tend to run MUCH hotter than comparable drives from WDC which is one of the main things that kill hard drives.  Since laptops are so compact there is no way to adequately cool down overly hot hard drives so Seagates really aren't a good option.
Toshiba hard drives run slow and hot, two things you don't want in a hard drive.  That's enough to keep them off of my recommended list.
Fujitsu used to make great drives, but now that they are part of Toshiba I question their quality and have to place them on the same avoid at all costs with Seagate and Toshiba.
I've never used any Samsung hard drives and have no experience with them.  While I don't go so far as to say avoid them at all costs like I do Toshiba and Seagate hard drives, I can't recommend them as I simply don't have anything to base an opinion on one way or another.
Hitachi make some excellent drives, and their 7K500 is the best overal performing hard drive and come highly recommended by people who know that I trust.  That would be the only NON WDC drive I would recommend.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.
